I wasn't sure about this restaurant at first. Their first month or so from their grand opening was rough--needlessly complicated ordering system through the guise of technological "advances", pouring refills out of 2-liter sodas, inconvenient system for removing plates from the conveyor belt, music way too loud. My husband and I swore off this place...until some friends of ours told us about "their new favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place" (I thought, "Surely they are talking about another place"?). They were shocked to hear our experience and convinced us to give them another try. I am happy to report that we go to Kanji (not on weekends...WAAY too crowded and an hour and a half wait time) at least three times a month. Their menus are no longer on iPads that need an employee to "unlock", even to look at what the ingredients are, but now simple, laminated, large double-sized menus with ingredients clearly written out. I personally do the ACYE without the sashimi (I feel like it is extra money spent on not a lot in return). I am pleased with the variety of speciality rolls, nigiri (the eel is my favorite) and mochi. Would love to see more protein items on the conveyor belt instead of sliced peaches (looks like from a can), cantaloupe and honey dew melon, but maybe there is enough of a crowd that likes fruit at a sushi ACYE place. Service is good a majority of the time, particularly on non-peak hours.

Where to start. I called in around 4:30pm 2/25 to place an order for pickup totaling $59.89The young man who answered the phone and took my order asked me to pay over the phone....not sure why it took me reading the numbers on my card several times for him to say never mind pay in person....sigh...being the savant I am..I check my bank prior to picking up my raw delights and I have a pending charge for $59.89...cool. I walk into the restaurant where Mr dyslexic is informing me I did not pay. I show him the charge he says it ~*may*~ say that but on his end it is marked unpaid...he continues to say pay again..if it double charges call the restaurant and we will refund the second charge. I tap my card and my food is released....with 2 pending charges I attempt to enjoy my mediocre meal...can't since I spent $120 on mid level fish butt..awaiting the release of the charge I call the restaurant to inform the manager of the double charge...she at first denies I was ever there. As I double down, she proceeds to say there have been multiple issues with their payment system since they're a new restaurant, and that she will contact their IT department to verify. She calls me back 10 minutes later and says on her end I was charged once and she can't help. Called my bank they're asking for proof. Ok..I'll get your proof. It's 5:58am 3/5/25. I will be up there 11am when you're open until this is resolved.

This place is average at best. We visited on Sunday for lunch, and it was fairly busy. We were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait, but ended up waiting about 40 minutes before being seated.I expected more variety on the conveyor belt, but it mainly had dessert items and an occasional set of rolls or snacks. The service was disappointing--our server rushed us as we have already expressed that we needed more time, which was frustrating given that it was our first time here and we were still trying to navigate the menu. The menu itself offered a wide selection of rolls, appetizers, hibachi, and other dishes, which was a plus. While the price is reasonable, the quality didn't live up to expectations. It was just okay. The rolls, in particular, felt very one-dimensional.

Good quality fishes and good amount of choices. I like the size of the dish, normally 1 or 2 pieces per order, so we can choice more kinds of things. Food was delivered by carts run on the railings very interesting. The waitress and waiter will take orders from you. They pay attention to your status. Good open space.

Came here right at opening time for dinner, to avoid having to wait. A week before, there was a line out the door in the middle of dinner time, so I made sure to go early this time.My son had been wanting to go to a rotary sushi place again, so my family decided to check this AYCE sushi place out. We opted to add the sashimi option, and were glad to hear that my son didn't have to get the add-on too since he's 5 years old. We kind of got filled up on the rolls, and the sashimi took a while to come out. The presentation of the dishes were really nice.We really liked the novelty of the delivery mechanisms that brought out our food. It would have been nice if there were iPad ordering tablets. This was a nice place to check, but I'm not sure if I'd go back.

I wish 8 stars was an option, as I sit here on my couch about to roll off of it. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was what a beautiful space it is with the wood and high ceilings. There are no reservations so my friend and I got on the wait-list, which has a countdown of sorts on your phone. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what the times meant (one was counting up, the other was counting down). All that made sense was how many groups were ahead of us, and that was all I really needed to know. We were seated after about 15 minutes. The way it's set up is you get a menu of sushi and other things to order from, which are all included in the AYCE pricing. You place those orders with your server. They then come around on the top level of the conveyer belt with a tray that stops at your table. The bottom level is a constantly rotating conveyer belt of sweets, sushi rolls, and appetizers. My friend and I had a field day trying a little of everything. We stuffed ourselves silly and agreed that we need to come back. Everything came out at a pretty rapid pace. Any kinks that they needed to work out (based on old reviews) have been smoothed out. They ran like a well-oiled machine.

Saturday night dinner was packed. I'm not sure if making a reservation is an option but without a reservation my group of 2 waited 1 hour for a table. After we were seated, our server was quick to put in our order and was fairly attentive all night. Food was somewhat slow to come out but that was expected given how full the restaurant was. On the plus side, there was a conveyor belt of revolving small bites to snack on while you waited for your food. The conveyor belt had a decent selection of appetizers although the items seemed random. I also noticed that some of the conveyor belt items weren't things you could order from the menu. Some of the things we saw circulating: edamame, seaweed salad, melon, peaches, octopus salad, sushi, bread roll, fried scallop, fried shrimp, mozzarella stick, dumplings, mousse, cake. These items were hit or miss. I think I saw the same plate of octopus salad going around the conveyor belt for the entire 90 minutes I was there.... You can tell pretty quickly what items aren't popular lol The sushi, dumpling, and fried scallop we tried from here were good! Our main entrees were delivered via little robot. Throughout your meal you just watch the robots run back and forth on their track from the kitchen to different tables. Kinda cute lol anyway the quality of fish was good for all you can eat. Salmon and yellowtail were particularly good in my opinion. We really enjoyed the salmon avocado handrollHot appetizers we tried: chicken wings, crab Rangoon, shrimp shumai, and takoyaki. Mid tier apps. Came out hot but taste was 5/10. Worth trying a few just to get a taste but also very skipable. Overall, as a AYCE sushi connoisseur, Kanji is probably my favorite of several I've tried in the area. The quality of fish, specialty roll selection, and conveyor belt & robot delivery novelty make it #1 for me. I would 100% come back here and recommend this place to anyone who wants some AYCE sushi!

This place is amazing and the quality in food is like non other. There are other all you can eat sushi spots in the Springfield/Lorton area but honestly this is the best spot. The menu is large and there's something for everyone. If you go in the evenings during the week the conveyor belt is on and on the weekends it's on during the lunch hours as well. The belt carries a variety of sushi, fruit, dessert and other options that you could also get directly off the menu if you choose. When you order off the menu theres a team that will either bring the food out for you OR there are these adorable meal trains that run above the belt and bring your food to you. Watching them move around is the cutest thing and they're so polite haha. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful and relaxing, they accommodate larger groups in addition to just solo individuals. Highly recommend and I can't wait to go back again (even though I've already been many times lol)

An AYCE in the area is much needed. I would say $29.99 price is very reasonable for the menu options. This place is set-up by conveyor belt but I think they do a combination of that and ordering by waiter. For $5 you can get sashimi, I think this is a great alternative if you don't want all the rice. I have to say the rice is disappointing. Something not too hard to fix! It is not seasoned and falls apart/too dry. I think this would definitely improve test. The fish is fresh and the sashimi option is definitely thicker in cut than the nigiri. I really liked some of their specialty rolls too especially the golden spider roll(?)Yes, I would recommend if you aren't going a la carte, this is a less pressuring expensive option. Good for groups and I would come back!
