Came here on a recent work trip after a very long day of travel. This place freaking rocks. I've never been to Tokyo but this made me feel as if I had been transported there. I believe I ordered the spicy Tonkotsu ramen and it was so good. A massive portion that I couldn't finish but it hit the spot with great presentation. Upstairs in the main dining room, they only serve beer and wine (and sake, I believe). However, there are some incredible cocktails at the speakeasy downstairs.Naturally I had to check it out because I'm a speakeasy nerd even though I was exhausted. It was so seriously cool. The stairwell itself was super cool and then there was a long hallway with a bunch of different doors so you weren't quite sure which was the one you were supposed to go into. I won't spoil it but the hallway is a sight to behold and once you find the bar/lounge it is covered in a fun Tokyo street art, more neon lights, and is just a really chill place. The drink menu has seasonal specials and so many amazing options. I don't remember the drink I had but it was extremely well done- it was so hard to choose. If I was in the area again, I would definitely come back here!

We walked in here after a call ahead since everyone had been sick and we just wanted something warm and quick. The reviews were good, and it was close. What I did neglect to remember was that it is Capitol Hill- no parking. My husband dropped us off and drove around for 10 minutes looking for parking. The call ahead netted us a good table in the window, so first impressions were good. This is kind of an anime bar theme, very much gives cafe vibe and it's straight back with a small bar and there kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. The vibes are Japanese and the kids were ecstatic. I was just there for the ramen. Most of the tables seat 4 and they're booths, so if you're coming with a party, I recommend a call ahead at minimum to ensure seating. Our family is 7 and we had an 8-10 top to ourselves so it was likely the only place to seat us.We started with the Japanese wings, which the kids requested and devoured (10/10) and the edamame, which I love and am determined to get my kids on lol. I'm wearing them down. Everyone had some! And enjoyed it. (8/10 - could've had a bit more salt). Then we tried the crispy Brussels sprouts. They weren't at all sweet, were doused in Parmesan and the umami was tantalizing 9/10.They were out of a lot of things and we are kosher and went for ramen. They have vegetarian and vegan ramen but the whole family did spicy chicken and regular chicken ramen. For 6 we ordered 4 and split and still had leftovers. They put the spicy sauce on the side which I recommend for Littles. We all like spice but keeping it buildable was helpful. The service can be a bit sketchy. Our waiter didn't bring plates for the appetizers, spoons for the ramen nor were we offered any pepper or drinks beyond water, which was fine. He forgot the extra bowls for the ramen, which was a bit frustrating having everyone waiting to eat, but the food was good and these were all easy fixes. I only wish I'd gotten pictures. It was a cute spot and my teen kids would love to hang there or even go on a date there. It would be an UberEats spot for me because the food is good and the parking is trash. Overall 6/10 I'd eat there again in a pinch but there are a lot of other options on Capitol Hill unless you just must have ramen, which is what brought us here lol. Try them!

I was really excited about visiting this place based on some of the photos that I saw. I was a bit disappointed as the restaurant felt a little run down, nonetheless I did appreciate the effort that was put into give you a Japanese feel. The ramen dishes were okay, but nothing special. Same with the Japanese wings, gyozas, and drinks. The service was good as our waiter was nice.

Ambiance was a bit on the darkside, and sink has barely water to wash your hand, with cold water! No hand towels, to turn off the faucets. Barely enough meat.I thinking was this is Japanese Ramen . People don't want anything other than the broth!

I love the fact that there's actually an anime/manga themed ramen spot in DC! It's aesthetically pleasing on the eyes. From the neon lights, to the art around, to the TVs playing several different anime's at a time, it's perfect for the American Otaku! The chashu fried rice was very delicious , I would definitely recommend it as a side. I usually go with gyoza or other sides, but since I haven't seen chashu fried rice on a menu before, I just had to get it. I had the Tokyo style ramen and it was really good. I tried my friend's chicken ramen and the broth was perfectly creamy, pause, and tasty! I haven't had chicken ramen before but this one actually made me want to try them from now on. After a nice meal, head downstairs to the speakeasy called "TKYO". It's small but a nice little spot to get some more drinks and enjoy the "Tokyo" vibes.

When you walk in the place has an odd smell, like a damp rag. I'm not sure if that's umami or not. The portions are good sizes, but the ramen just doesn't gel. I taste the chicken, the spices, etc. but it's quite bland. The seaweed appetizer was the highlight of the meal.

This is one of the more vibrant and lively ramen spots you'll encounter in the area with its floral decor and neon lighting. It was a bit packed on this particular evening but I was able to find a bar seat, the staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The menu features items like chashu fried rice, gyoza, and Japanese chicken wings (around $9-$13) as appetizers and multiple ramen options such as vegetable, spicy tonkotsu, Tokyo, and Yuzu chintqn options (around $18). I ordered the Tokyo style ramen with additional scallions and corn. The dish came out swiftly and was pretty good overall: decent portion size, the pork was well cooked and soft, I would have liked a bit more flavor broth wise but otherwise a solid ramen dining experience so definitely give them a try.

This place has a cool, hip atmosphere and was a great place to escape from a snowy day outside. The staff were very friendly and let us linger after our meal waiting for an Uber even though it was close to closing time. The food was fresh and delicious and served quickly. Definitely recommend.

Ate at Kaiju ramen for lunch last weekend and had a great time. The ambiance is homey but fun because of the Anime inspiration although I did expect there to be more themed items in the restaurant aside from just the decorated walls and figurines. It would be great to have that spread to the Menu or staff uniforms etc. the Tokyo ramen was delicious and I almost couldn't finish it because of its size! My friends ordered a fried rice was was yummy as well. The speakeasy below was unfortunately not open when we went so I didn't get to check it out. I believe it opens around 5pm. Definitely a fun restaurant to visit with friends!

THE LOBSTER RAMEN IS THE BEST RAMEN IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! I'm not exaggerating. It's not because of the lobster. It's the broth!! That broth is rich, creamy, luxurious on the tongue, full of flavor, and compliments every component in the bowl. I expected it to be good but I received GREATNESS in a bowl. And it wasn't just me, my entire family shared my sentiment. Now let's add that everything else we ordered was delicious from the boba drinks to all the appetizers. And even though mine was the best, all the ramen dishes were very good as well. The locker was our cool ass server that was friendly, funny, helpful, and on top of his job. We ate at a lot of places during our DC trip but this was definitely the highlight of the good portion. And that is saying a lot because we had good food daily.
