Not my first time patronizing this food truck, they came to my apartment complex again. Reasonable prices and the food is great. Customer service is on point as well. Love to see a Black Woman owned food truck. I love their hush puppies best. The lemonade was not overly sweet as well, which is rare. They also do catering as well, the food truck mainly service Virginia and Maryland at times; limit service in DC.

We ate here only one time, when we were in DC visiting from California...April 2014. We STILL talk about this place as some of THE BEST soul food ever!!! Delicious, love every single thing about this place.

I saw this food truck parked around my neighborhood as i was walking my dog and decided to try this place after dinner. First off, the owners of the food truck are super friendly and immediately greeted us. My sister and I decided to share the fried chicken, collard greens, and mac n cheese. Lemme tell ya...EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT!!! My sister said her favorite side was the collard greens. The fried chicken was well battered and had the BEST flavor. Typically, I dont like white meat bc it gets dry sometimes. HOWEVER, this food truck KNOWS how to make fried chicken (white meat) still moist. Highly recommend this food truck to others if you ever see it!!!

Margaret's is great. She is so friendly and accommodating, and just wants you to eat well. The fried chicken is really good. The skin is so crispy and delicious, and the chicken is HUGE - our takeout boxes wouldn't shut. You get so much for what you pay, great deal. She fried our chicken fresh (took around 15 minutes) but so worth it. Some parts of my thigh/leg were a little dry, but overall it was delicious and I didn't care because the skin was so good. The mac and cheese is really good too, as well as the greens. Wasn't a big fan of the yams but they weren't terrible. The place is very small (three counter seats and a takeout window). There is some off-street parking, and a few spots up the steep hill. I would recommend calling ahead to see if they're out of anything, or to order ahead. Can't rate this lower than a 5, the food, price, and hospitality are awesome.

Much different experience. Suspect that's the difference when the person whose name is on the business is in the business.Definitely felt the love and soul you expect. The food was available, quick and on point. I smashed the turkey wings and Mac n cheese. Greens were good. Cornbread was good. I'd stay away from the ribs. They felt like they needed more time on the grill as they were tough and chewy. There's a few other things I want to try on the menu. I'll be back.

So this food truck comes to my work about once a week. I've honestly never given it a try, but my coworkers LOVE it. They order from here quite often. After listening to all of the rave, I finally gave in and ordered a hefty meal.I got the catfish with a side of collard greens and hush puppies. The box came out with THREE HUGE STRIPS of catfish, and it was sooooo delicious! Like melt in your mouth delicious! Not even exaggerating, it literally melted in my mouth and was perfectly flaky. My boyfriend loves the hush puppies from here, so I generously gave him mine, but I did keep the collard greens for myself. I thought it was a bit too salty for my taste. The lady at the truck was soooo nice and friendly. Great mom and pops food truck to support.

I am very disappointed with Margaret's Soul Food. My Aunt and Uncle had abirthday party this past weekend and I actually referred Margaret's SoulFood to cater their Birthday Party. I was so embarrassed that I referred herafter I saw and taste the quality of the food. It was nothing compared towhat I experience from her food truck. The food was beyond horrible to me. I was personally responsible for servingthe rice and mac and cheese. The rice was super mushy and sticky; I had toliterally scrape the rice off the serving spoon with a knife to place it onthe guest's plates. As for the mac and cheese, I had to serve the middle ofthe mac and cheese because the mac and cheese was burnt at the top and onthe sides. My cousin served the collard greens and to our surprise when she placed oneof the collard greens on a guest plate we saw the greens bunch tag inside ofthe green. The chicken had so many different parts in the pan as if shedidn't care about what was provided. We had some wingettes, pieces ofchicken that resembled fish and some huge legs that were undercooked. Inaddition to the ridiculous assortment of chicken, it was soggy and rubbery. Like I stated earlier, I was very disappointed but I was more embarrassedbecause I was the one who referred her. Then to top off everything, Margaretwas texted and emailed and she didn't respond. In my opinion that was rudeand unprofessional. Food is a big part of the enjoyment of someone's eventand for the food to be that bad for someone who supported your business andnot have the courtesy to talk to them and come up with a resolution is bad.I will never refer anyone else to Margaret's Soul Food.

Best food truck I've had in a while!!!! I had the fried fish/greens/mac&cheese... the seasoning and flavors were on point. I didn't even want to add hot sauce to my fish because I thought it'd ruin the flavor. Lol. The lady and gentleman running the truck were quick and very friendly. They have good customer service which is a nice touch to any food service. I gave it 5 stars because my whole experience was great. Hopefully they come back to Alexandria soon otherwise I'll have to semi stalk there where about to get my soul food fix!!

Wowee!! We visited Margaret's Soul Food & Catering yesterday afternoon and we absolutely LOVED it! It was a freezing cold day (less than 10 degrees) and there was tons of snow and ice on the roads, due to the recent snowstorm, but we decided to visit anyway to get some delicious soul food (which really hit the spot on a super cold day). My one qualm with the location is the very steep driveway and limited parking, but as a hole in the wall, I suppose that's normal! We braved the steep incline of the driveway and parked right outside and went in to place our order. The place is TINY! It's not even a restaurant - more like a carryout (and they also do catering, I hear). But despite appearances, I'm so glad we got carry-out from here because the food was ambrosial. We placed our orders with Ms. Margaret herself. She seemed like an absolute sweetheart and was nothing but politeness and kindness. She just exuded this sort of warmth that made you feel right at home. Oh, and fyi - she's great about picking up her phone. I had previously called to confirm hours when she wasn't even open and she picked up. She told us the food would be ready in 15 minutes. We were the only customers there and she cooked the food herself. We went and sat in our car and then came back in 15 minutes to get our food. Again, total hole in the wall, and I loved it! I ordered the fried chicken with a side of mac n cheese and a side of potato salad. Note that they do run out of some of their food by the end of the day. They're open until 7pm and we visited around 6pm. They were out of coleslaw, which was what I wanted, but they substituted in mac n cheese instead. My boyfriend ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of mac n cheese and a side of collard greens. He initially wanted BBQ beef, but they were completely out for the day. Again, I would recommend visiting early! All that food for under $20. They have an $8 special for an entree and two sides. And it's A LOT of food. Completely worth the price. Our food was TASTY. I haven't had fried chicken that good in a LONG time. It was perfectly breaded, perfectly juicy, and extremely fresh. Everything is made fresh for you. The sides were WONDERFUL! Just ambrosial. My boyfriend was equally impressed. Not the healthiest food, but it tasted home cooked and it didn't leave us feeling gross and oily. It was truly satisfying.Note - this place is CASH ONLY. I saw that on Yelp and planned accordingly by visiting an ATM earlier in the day. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Note that Ms. Margaret is planning to start a food truck business. I am so excited for that! I would love to stop by! I am a huge fan of food trucks, especially when they serve such amazing specialty food.We would certainly LOVE to visit again! Snow or not, this place really hits the spot and is food that is truly good for your SOUL.
