Jonathan's Sports Pub

Stopped in on a Thursday night with some coworkers! You'd never think this pub was here, right next to a seven eleven. The location is a little sneaky, being tucked away in a small lot in Rockville. You can tell this joint has been here for years, the vibe is very dive bar esque with dim lighting and a bare bones kind of menu. Don't expect fancy cocktails, they can only make rail drinks & pour beers. The food was average, but then again I would come here for a drink with friends and not for the food. The mozz sticks were a little cold on the inside. The chicken fingers were good and the fries here are beer battered and so crispy & flavorful. They have a heavy pour here, you definitely get your moneys worth! The bartenders and waitresses were super friendly and made sure to round on us frequently! The bar is full of regulars and the bathroom is very clean. I would definitely come back and I recommend coming to Jonathan's if you're looking for a laid back place for a quick drink & snack.

Story time:The woman I married had parents that lived near Kemp Mill, so we became familiar with local places, in particular two wonderful places in Wheaton, MD: The Royal Mile (Scottish pub) and Barnaby's. We spent many happy Saturday afternoons at Barnaby's; we both had our favorite sub we'd get, and it was just perfect for our sensibilites & lifestyle. They served potato chips by default; you had to ask for fries. My kind of place! We brought our daughter when she came along, and it was always a good time.Then Barnaby's closed. We seriously were in a time of mourning, for months/years. Then, one day I stumbled across Jonathans. The vibe seemed good, and oddly familiar for a place I'd never been. Then I spotted the gentleman on the glass partition inside the doorway - it was the same as Barnaby's!!I asked at the bar, and found out they were a "sister" pub to Barnaby's. THEY HAD MY SANDWICH (the Club Sub). It's almost the same experience! The sandwiches are well done and full, they have a few decent beers on tap, and the dark wood brings to mind "old pub" vibes.I've been a few times for carry out and eat in. Alas, they're 40 minutes away instead of 15, so I don't get there as often as I like, but I'm SO GLAD they are there. I can get my Club Sub cravings satisfied.

Excellent family-friendly sports restaurant (didn't go into the bar specifically because I was with my young son). Very decent menu for what you'd expect and the food was good while I was able to share some football games with my 1st grader. Recommend if in the area and want a local family-friendly experience.

Great great food, I've been going to Jonathan's pub for years, and I'm very happy to see they haven't changed the steak and cheese, it's very very good, I wasn't too impressed with the wings, they are a little salty for my liking. The service is always great, always greeted with a smile, still has the same feel inside the bar and restaurant area, tvs to watch the game, if that's what you want, or just hangout for a drink. Great place.

The only way to improve this establishment would be to let me dance on the bar. No... Actually there are other ways as well. An Anthony Hopkins impersonator would be cool. Seriously though, there's no other place like it in the area. It's nice to have a friendly little dive close by.I stand by everything I said.

Local watering hole where everyone knows your name. Customer service is excellent. The bartenders are always welcoming and with a smile. Let's not forget plenty of jokes that even if you had a bad day at the office they find a Way to make you smile.I've tried the chicken quesadillas, gyros and several of their desserts. All delicious!!! I will try many more items on the menu and update my review. If you want a chill bar then this is your place!

Was in town for my kids hockey and needed a quick bite and a beer with my kids. Didn't go to the bar area and sat at the tables. Was thrown back in time! The ambiance was old school but I felt comfortable. Drafts were bubbly and reasonable price and food I would say is excellent for bar food! Between the 3 of us: quesadillas, burger, onio and chicken tenders. When we are back in town for kids sports we will be back as service was also great!

Jonathan's is exactly what I've been missing in my life. Staff are super friendly. Pours are heavy. Food is outstanding. Order the cheeseburger or meatball sub!I'll be back with certainty.
