Still in soft opening but off to a great start with minor adjustment. First aesthetically, this place is really cool. We enjoyed the vibe and I only hope I get a big enough party to reserve one of the themed rooms next time. Since this was soft opening , some food items were not offered. It would have been great to order from the Yakatori menu.Service could be better. I struggled between giving a 3 or a 4 but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. I had to get our servers attention multiple times because she never stopped by after getting our appetizer order or after the food arrived but she walked by to the back rooms multiple times. As for food, the wings came incredible fast which made me doubt the freshness but they were hot and good. Presentation of the Gyoza can be improved. It looked like they just flipped it upside down on the plate and served. Taste wise, they were ok. My daughter said the curry tasted like mine so I'm going to take that as a win. Yakisoba was good as well. We went on a Sunday night so it wasn't packed but I can definitely see it getting so on a Friday or Saturday night. Hopefully, they get online reservations once they do open. I recommend stopping by, I most definitely will return once they fully open so I can try the full menu.

We heard from friends about izakaya nana and they had a great experience at izakaya nana. The interior is absolutely stunning and felt as if we stepped back into old time Japan. The staff was kind and responsive to our needs and communicated that it was their soft opening so some of the items on the menu were not available. We inquired about the skewers and unfortunately our server didn't have a specific date of when it would become available. She said probably in 2-3 weeks. We might try izakaya nana again when their full menu is available as we were primarily interested in the yakitori offerings. The food, unfortunately, was where we felt it was style over substance. Our favorites were the truffle fries and brussel sprouts. My daughter, a certified Vegetable hater ate up the brussel sprouts. They were coated in a delicious salty savory seasoning and fried until they were crunchy and good. The fries had a very tasty, just the right amount of truffle. The okay items were the pork buns. The pork pieces were small but the sauce was heavy as it dripped onto our clothes. The baos were soft but overall it just wasn't memorable. Fair warning, the sauce does have a kick so if you can't handle spice, maybe deter from this item. My husband got the omurice and he said it wasn't anything to write home about. I had a taste of the curry with the omurice and it tasted almost box like as I would make at home. Omurice is also 20 dollars but the portion is adequate to make up for the okay taste. The not so great items was the tonkotsu ramen. I don't want to say it but it truly was one of the worst ramen I've ever had. The only thing that saved it was char siu which had great flavor and soft texture. The ramen noodles are the type that remind me of instant ramen noodles and the smell of the bamboo was utterly overwhelming. It was all I could focus on because it was so pungent. The kicker is that this ramen does not have ramen eggs but quail eggs. The picture on the online QR menu had ramen egg but my bowl has 2 quail eggs instead. I'm not sure if that is blasphemous but I feel like it should bc if it's Japanese ramen, a golden gooey ramen egg is a must. Quail eggs was definitely a choice. The final item we ordered was the thing that made me most sad. The miso cod. At a whopping 20.99 for cod, the fish should at least be an okay size. This was the smallest piece of fish for that price. I could possibly eat the whole piece in one bite. And also, it is cod. This is not Chilean sea bass. It is cod with no rice. Rice is extra. It is wild to offer that small piece of a fish with no rice at that price. I was left in shock. While it is a soft opening, I understand kinks are still being finalized and changes can still happen. We appreciate the 10% off for soft opening. We will definitely try their yakitori and sushi offerings next time and hopefully the flavors will live up to the extravagant prices set at izakaya nana.

Decided to visit with some family during the soft open opening. Parking wasn't much of an issue. We were seated in a large booth that dips into the floor. The decor here is very nice and felt cozy. We ordered a couple of cocktails (one had matcha and the other lychee) that were both great. For food, we got the Karaage Chicken, Fried Soft Shell Crab, Okonomiyaki, Chicken Katsu Curry, and the Sushi Dragon Balls. The food came out very quickly. The Karaage, soft shell, Okonomiyaki, and the Katsu Curry were all fried perfectly and tasted great. The soft shell was our favorite here. The Dragon Balls were huge, very delicious, and the fish was pretty good quality,Definitely a great place in the area for Japanese food with very attentive servers.

Came here during soft opening so the menu was limited. I really liked the interior of this restaurant. Each table is like a booth or private session so its nice to go with a group. I went with my cousins and we ordered a variety of dishes to try! For drinks, I ordered the mango mojito mocktail. It was good and refreshing but I wished the mango flavor was stronger.Out of all the dishes we ordered, the most memorable items Mentaiko Udon and Tornado Omurice. Sushi was also pretty good!Items I would skip would be the Jumbo Lump Crab Maruyaki (too much mayo). The Toro Ikura Don was good BUT it is on the pricier side and I am not sure if the sashimi amount justified the cost.I would probably come back since its near my area!

Overall: 3 starsStopped by during their soft opening on Valentine's Day - it was a trainwreck of an experience when we arrived and waited for our table. Hopefully it'll improve and the experience was an off-night (given the busyness of the holiday + Friday night). Food was average - plan on trying other food items and updating my review (did not try sushi/sashimi or drinks, and Yakitori was not available during their soft opening). Food Quality: 3 starsOrdered the Karaage Chicken, Fried Shishito Pepper, Gyoza, Chicken Yakisoba, and Katsu Curry. Enjoyed the Karaage Chicken and Fried Shishito Pepper. Gyoza was OK - tasted like normal/average dumplings. Disappointed with the Chicken Yakisoba and Katsu Curry. Katsu Curry was overcooked and a bit tough. Chicken Yakisoba was a bit flavorless/bland and too sweet. Would order the Karaage Chicken and Fried Shishito Peppers again. Plan on trying other food items like sushi/sashimi and Yakitori next time. Service/Experience: 3 starsVery pretty interior and great spot for a date night. Small bar seating to the right, once you enter the restaurant. It can accommodate for larger parties (for events, birthdays, etc.). Plenty of parking around the restaurant. Very disappointed with the service (main reason for the 3 stars instead of 5) - granted it was a Friday night and Valentine's Day. Set a reservation at 8 PM and waited 45 minutes to be seated (could have been longer, had I not asked how much longer we needed to wait). There was no queue or system in place. People received different messages from the staff which can be frustrating. Hopefully this gets cleaned up in the near future (could have been an off-night).

In the mood for Japanese food and want to try something new. Came here on a weeknight and it wasn't crowded yet because of the icy roads. We were seated immediately. Now, this is their soft opening so the menu is very limited. But that is fine since they still have a great selections to choose from. Service - our waitress is great. She moved effortlessly to all the tables and took the orders and brought out the dishes in good time. Food - I was pleasantly surprised by how great all the food that we ordered. Nothing is bad at all. All tastes fresh and hot. Ambience - this is one the most beautiful Japanese restaurants that I have been to. I love love the decorations. Remind me of the Japanese restaurants I ate in Japan. Will definitely come back again to try other food for sure.

I visited while they're still in their soft opening so they didn't have everything on their menu yet (Yakitori) and are out of things (Ramen). But we were told this when we sat down.I do have to say, the restaurant decor was amazing, really transported us to Japan! We ordered their Karaage, Oden, Hako Sushi, Sweetheart Roll, Dancing Girl Roll, all of which were delicious and would order again. We were genuinely surprised by how good their sushi was! We also ordered a Japanese Whiskey Highball to drink.Service was pretty slow, or it would be hard to catch our waiter, which I understand due to how busy the restaurant was that night.Overall was a good first time experience for a soft opening. Definitely want to come back to try their other menu items once available on their menu.

Dinner on a Thursday night. No reservations. Place was not full since they're still on "soft-opening" period. Was pleasantly surprise to see a fun restaurant like this in the suburbs. A+ on the restaurant decor and ambiance! Private booths would be great for a group of 4 or less. Private rooms are the best for larger groups. There were 4 of us but we asked to be seated in one of the private rooms -- and they were so kind to accommodate our special request because they were not that busy. This was not their "norm" since the private rooms were only for groups of 5+. Every private room was themed and we got to choose the room we wanted to dine in. Food was AMAZING! My sister who lives in Manhattan NY and is used to high end restaurants was even impressed. Service was EXCELLENT! Our waiter, Calvin, guided us on what to order and we enjoyed everything he suggested. This is a definitely a return place for us. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND IZAYAKA NANA in Chantilly VA for an evening of fun with friends and/or family.
