Came for a carryout on a Friday @ lunch. My friend told me about it so I thought I'd try for first time. I didnt find initially because its down and around back of shopping center. Its small serving area in back of the food store. No seating, only carryout. I orderd oxtails, stew chicken, and jerk chicken. I thought I'd try many things since I made special effort to come. The food was excellent! Best Jamaican that I have had in Montgomery County.

I haven't visited during the pandemic, but I have been a customer here over the past few years, and the food is always outstanding. The portions are huge, and I get two meals out of a single purchase. My favorite is the curried goat, which is just amazing, with a wonderful sauce. I also like the jerk chicken and the stew chicken. I wish they had fish like the Rockville restaurant. All of the vegetable side dishes are excellent. This place is hard to find on the bottom of the backside of this strip mall, has zero atmosphere, and some very surly people working at the back. I was glad to find out by reading the reviews here that we all had the same experience, and that the attitude wasn't personally directed at me. I will put up with a lot to get great food at a great price. The cashiers have always been nice, too. I highly, highly recommend the food here.

My frustration continues with this restaurant. The food is good but they can be slow with service. I stopped in around 1:57 pm today. No one greeted me as I walked in the store. Some were helping customers. Three people and a child were behind the counter and a fourth adult walked out of the kitchen to talk to the cashier. The man in front of me received his order and proceeded to the cash register. The server went to the back to get a case of water while the other lady was talking to another customer who was at the soda fountain. I expected one of them to ask me for my order but they didn't. They were just standing around. I walked out the store. I decided to go back in and told them that they were rude and that they didn't acknowledge or help me. Then I left because I won't support a business that doesn't value me as a customer. Please teach your employees customer service etiquette because they are lacking.

Crack, did I say crack? Yes, crack. The jerk is crack the sauce is crack the cabbage is crack, the rice is crack... so the people that work there don't kiss your a$$ when you walk in... get over it... not known for customer service but this is the sleeper spot for some food that will put your a$$ to sleep happy... you're welcome

The food is good but the attitudes are horrible. The only reason why I continue to patronize this place is because it's the closest to me. Maybe that's why the attitudes are so stink - they know there are few options in this area. When people ask me about Caribbean food in this area I don't even mention them because I'm ashamed of their poor customer service interaction.

Really tasty food and you get a huge portion. The place is in the back of the building so call them and ask if you can't find it. Went there with hubby for lunch and one of the lady was really nice and helpful while the other lady ( she's taller and bigger) was very rude and mean. But over all our experience wasn't bad I will be going back

Today was my second visit to this location, and I will be going back whenever I'm in the area. The food is out of this world, you pay for what you get. Try them out, I promise you won't be disappointed

Best curry chicken & rice hands down! I'm past due for a review because I frequent both locations like once a week. Been coming here for 8 years! Highly recommended because the food is authentic and made from scratch! The Gaithersburg location presents as a market up front but in the back is a butcher and fresh hot Jamaican food! Take out only here. Customer for life! Curry is better than my aunties lol. Oh and they are selling authentic eucalyptus oil in the glass case upfront for 2.99! If you don't know about the many uses of eucalyptus oil, do some research and come here for a good deal on it!

My search for authentic Jamaican food satisfied... Almost...A good friend let me know about this Jamaican food market which serves food at the back counter. I made a special trip over to this spot to see what they could do.First the place is VERY VERY hard to find. It is located on the rear of the building with almost no signs to indicate where it is. That is until you pull into the parking lot and spot the signage on the building corner. But drive along the right side of the building down the ramp to the rear of the building and you will find it.The store has a good selection of Jamaican and caribbean food. Even baked good. But my purpose here is to get some cooked meals from the back.I have been here three times and picked up three different meals. First Trip- Ox TailThis was really good the vegetables and rice were freshly cooked and complimented the savory taste of the oxtail. The meat and fat were slowly cooked to just the right, melt in your mouth texture. Great first visit.Trip 2 - Jerk ChickenThe chicken was good but I still think it is roasted and stewed rather than smoked/grilled. Or the chicken was stitting around a while. But regardless it was good and spicy enough. Not that over the top spicyness that ruins meals but the proper level of pepper. While the animal protein was great the rice was definitely ancient and the plantain was not fresh either. While the sides fell short the main focus came through to make the meal satisfying.Trip -3 Snack of Patties.Picked up a few patties for me and my friend and all were tasty. Fresh and hit the spot with some Ting. So overall this place is short of 5 stars but not by much. They told me that they have a dedicated restaurant in Rockville. I will have to swing by there. But if you want to grab some Hardough bread, Bustas, or other Caribbean groceries don't forget to stop by the back counter and get a meal to go!
