Irie Cafe

Popped in for a quick bite while running errands in the area. I got a beef patty and it was just ok. The crust was good, but the beef lacked flavor. Service was fast, as I was the only customer at that time. The music playing gives a nice island vibe.

I'm not sure why this place has such a terrible rating but I really didn't think it was that bad honestly it was actually pretty good if it wasn't for the very bland cabbage more on that laterHere's what ended up gettingGoat curry: excellent. When you get goat it will be full of bones but they didn't just give bones they gave lots of meat and gravy and I had no complaints it was cooked extremely well and goat is very hard to do well kudos to irie Cafe lolRoti: I do find it confusing that they called it roti because in my parents culture, Indian, which is where these type of food originate, the thing that they served is not considered roti but called dal puri So it is bread with a stuffing. It's excellent but was not something that I was expecting to eat with the goat curry nevertheless I have nothing to complain about it because it was excellent One of the major gripes I have as you'll see with the picture is that they put the roti underneath the goat curry and I would have preferred to have it wrapped in foil separately so that I could tear it up as I like. Maybe that's how they eat it in the Caribbean but that it just was something I didn't care for.Cabbage: extremely bland and tasteless. I couldn't take more than two bites of it. Not that I threw it away of course why would I do that? I'm going to have to modify it with my version when I revamp it but that's something I think they really need to improve onSorrel drink: excellent I love it I would like to buy more of it if I could lolYou order at a counter and it's kind of like cafeteria style It is excellent. The guy who's at the counter is very personable and friendly.Price I think is a little bit hefty however you do get a good quantity of food. I paid 30 bucks for all of the aboveParking is freeing a lot.Ambiance is nice. I did not use the bathroom but I did eat inside and it was clean I wish that they had more readily available access to utensilsOverall I think this is a win .I'd come again.

Really good currie chicken and patties, for the location it's not far from home and gives a different flavors from the other locations. It is a restaurant with TVs, so a good spot to kick back and relax after the meal. With the staff being as lovely and genuine as possible. Always greeted with a smile.

Ordered the oxtails. Unfortunately, what I paid for was not what I got. I'm an islander and I make oxtail stew quite often. Oxtail bones do not look at all like the bones in the meal I received. Oxtail bones typically have a white cartilage core with the bone portion being round/smooth. Neck bones however, have a core that's more porous bone than cartilage and sharper/pointier bone sections. If your "oxtail" tasted off, and the texture of your meat was different... THIS is why. Irie Cafe, please stop ripping off your loyal customers by selling them cheap beef neck bones and passing them off as "oxtails". Some of us actually know the difference. I'm so disappointed with this place.

I went to their food truck which is located on Bolling. I believe that they are there M-F around lunch time, but don't quote me. I cannot attest to the actual restaurant in MD. It was my second time ordering from there. I really liked it. The first time I got a patty, which was good but a little too spicy for me. This time I got the Brown Stew Chicken meal. It was really good. I had enough for two meals. It's a little pricey for lunch. However, when you think that it yields two meals (for me) then the price is more digestible. I will definitely patronize them again and try something new.

Mid day like lunch time and only 2 vegetables were available.. the good veggies are an up charge like collards green beans curried veggies for $2.50 more. The whiting was good and spicy was in it. The snapper is always my go to and it was good as well. The curried veggies were a tad bit sweet in my opinion. I'll leave the tasting up to you why don't you slide through and try for yourself. Bring good vibes too

This is my go to spot for curry vegetables! They never disappoint! Nice flavor, good portion size and I'm always left feeling satisfied. Today my cabbage was a bit under cooked, which is why todays review is a 4- star. Outside of that, I'm satisfied.I ordered through Uber eats and my food arrived sooner than expected so I'm pleased about that. Even the times I go inside, everyone is so pleasant and the service is fast.Curry veggies with rice/peas and cabbage ..perfect Sunday lunch before I start my errands!

Found a string of hair in my cabbage while I was eating. Once i pulled the hair out of my mouth. I went back inside and showed the staff member who took my order . The staff member went to the back and got management. I explained to the owner/manager as I was eating my cabbage I pulled out a string of hair from my mouth. I explained to him I wanted a refund. He immediately accused me of putting the hair in my own food and told me he's wasn't giving me a refund because the shrimps was gone.. Although there was still plenty of cabbage and rice left. however; had I knew that there was gonna be hair in the cabbage.. I surly would have ate that 1st smdh !He said he would fix another entrée but no refund . 1st off I have braids in my hair let's get that pointed out. And secondly I ordered (3 )three of the exact same entrée , I only wanted to be compensated for the entrée that had hair in it ..not a full refund. Lastly .. why would I want another entree when I just had something else's hair in my mouth???!!Then the manager who has never meet me nor knows my personality then accused me of having an attitude when i initially ordered my food. This cafe is set up where you can see all the food, the shrimp container was pretty much on empty! So much so that she starting counting the shrimps and told me .. yup it's enough here for one entrée .Which made me ask her ..how long has this corner of shrimps been setting here. She told me she didn't know , then I asked..well how long have u been at work , she said since 5. It's was 6:20 then . Then I asked well what time do u close? Because at this point i was just wondering were they about to closed , and maybe that's why the shrimp container only had 6 shrimps.. literally. "She counted out loud " She had informed me that they were open until 10pm. So I was like well are y'all making more , she told me it will be a 5 min wait . I literally said no problem. I'll wait . Considering I'm ordering more than one of the same entrées . I told her I wanted all fresh entrées. So I'll pass on the 1st one she made . She said ok . She went to the kitchen and told me the shrimps actually were ready. She made our three entrées for myself & my two daughters and I left. I never had an attitude just questions about the food I'm paying for and eating . I'm a pescatarian so I don't eat at alot of places anyway .I never had an attitude , only very particular about what I eat . That's why Ppl shouldn't be so fast to pass judgement without knowing a person . The owner never compensated me for my meal he just walked back into the kitchen. So i asked the other staff member lady was he the manager/owner she looked at me and rolled her eyes as if I did something to her and barely answered My question.. now that is what really pissed me and cause me to now be upset. I come in your establishment during a pandemic And patronize your business. And this how y'all treat your customers. whomever cleaned up the entrée w/the hair let the owner/manager know that's was my attitude!Poor customer service and poor food prep

Brown stew chicken was pretty good!!! The carrot cake...... .... I dunno who made that.... But definitely homemade cakes... it was so good!

The curry chicken roti was nice and spicy but a bit dry. I was hoping for a little more curry sauce to bring out the flavor. The roti I enjoyed but I think it should have been separate from the curry chicken because it absorbed the curry sauce which made the chicken dry. The curry seasoning fell out of the roti onto the plate. All in all I give it a 3 star.
