First night in town and this was our spot after a long and tiresome day. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you pick as they all sound good. I had the Heritage which I was told it's one of their popular dishes. I can see why. My wife had the falafel sandwich which she enjoyed as well. It's not a very big location with somewhat limited seating, but it was still an enjoyable experience. Doesn't break the bank either. Two thumbs up!

I was quite excited to finally go here! Went with friends for lunch. The food itself was quite tasty, but the portions were quite small, and the amounts in many instances were left off the menu (# of wings, pieces of meat, etc), which seems dubious. While the happy hour prices were considerably cheaper, the rate for the portions and food there are still moderately expensive. I couldn't pin down the vibe. Having a set of monitors made it feel like a fast food joint but also, there were only the options to be waited on or to take food to go.Small note, the high table would wobble quite violently too haha, someone should tighten the bolts securing it.

Walking in the cold/snow to find that my iPhone GPS directed me to stop a few hundred yards from view of the location, I dipped in across the street into Pete's, to get the final bit of direction (it's on the street around the corner from pot belly, next door to Pete's coffee) Federal holiday, some street parking available, no other customers inside. No "ante-entrance", so if you're near the front door you WILL feel the cold each time it's opened. Two low tables, the other ?5 are high tops, and bar-seating across the front window Interesting concept of bringing together a variety of "immigrant" food. I do suppose that the originators of the cuisine don't necessarily have to be the cooks for it to still taste authentic. Because there are options from a variety of locations around the world! With a new regime coming in I chose the tribute to the current VP (also, per the waitress, the Viet Vibes is moreso a cold dish, and I wanted something warm)The roasted mushroom soup was delicious! The cup was a tease! And though she said the Heritage was all warm, that's not quite accurateCurry chicken strips were warm, the rice and chickpeas as well...but the rice was either undercooked, or from the bottom of the pot: quite chewy basmati rice. I was seriously disappointed that the plantain was ICE cold. Sliced and fried, I'm not sure why they went through the trouble of having it be chilled. It def did not add to the flavor of the dish and was an unpleasant surprise when popped it into my mouth expecting warm and sweet, and instead got "chilled ice cube vibes". I asked was this on purpose and was told yes Future reference, ask for the plantain to be warmed...or cooked to order. These had obviously been cooked beforehand and sat in a cooler She also said the spinach was warm...it was not. The chicken and chickpeas and rice were placed atop the "salad" that was baby spinach. Not bad, just unexpected when I was hoping for cooked spinach. The pineapples and jalapeños made for an interesting twist on the hot-cold-chewy salad For dessert I tried the Alafores: a South American dessert. Hmm. IMO, dry sweet bread with a sweet paste in between. I tried one, won't knock it, but just not a go-to for meOrdered an americano with almond milk and sugar (both on the side so I could add to my taste). The coffee was awful. Not an aficionado of coffee, I can't tell you why, but it was just Not good. She removed it from the bill and I went next door (to Pete's for a Cuban cappuccino)Total bill for soup salad and dessert: $35Tap water was offered One restroom, door blends into the wall, but opens right into a high top table (that HAS to be awkward for diners!), and has a code to access it A ?manager stopped by to ask was all ok, and the busboy asked the same. So they've been trained to show concern I give it a 4: interesting concept, soup was great, salad was ok, but could use a tweak, dessert-not my cup-o-tea but others might like it, coffee not good Meant to take a pic of the t-shirts the staff wore: "Immigrants make america great"Seemingly they have 2 other locations...so must be doing well enough to stick around

We were at the White House for their annual holidays at the White House celebration. We were so hungry after the event and I am glad this place was so close to their exit.As we walked in we noticed that it was pretty crowded. We had to wait 10 minutes which I don't think is a bad thing. It gave me some time to read their menu. While I was waiting, I ordered our food. I ordered Madam VP's heritage bowl. It's a nice combination of Indian and Jamaican food. Lots of chickpeas, chicken curry, coconut, pineapple and baby spinach. Everything blends nicely. Highly recommend it. For drinks, highly recommend the pineapple matcha. It's one of the best non alcoholic drinks I have ever had. So good. Ambiance was great. Various types of seating. High chairs to round tables for larger groups.

We had to return on our annual visit to DC. Great food, wonderful staff, and welcoming environment. We visited during happy hour so had an appetizer, dinner and dessert for around $65 for both people. Great price for travelers on a budget wanting a sit down meal in downtown DC.

This place is a new favorite! We were going to go to Kellari Taverna for brunch but sadly their doors were shuttered for repairs. We made the most of the situation and decided to head to Immigrant Food at The White House which has been on my bucket list for a while. This location has a good deal of outdoor seating and some indoor seating and given the heat, we chose to eat inside. The ambiance is nice yet unassuming as much of the business is takeout. Our waitress and the male server were both very amazing and the food and drinks were some of the best we have had at reasonable prices. The best is they have food representing all parts of the world. We got the Madame VP Heritage (which hopefully becomes Madame President in 2016) which was an Indian and Jamaican fusion dish as well as the Shakshuka & Arepas, a Middle Eastern and Venezuelan fusion brunch entree. We started with a Mango Mimosa and Pineapple Matcha to drink which we loved. We then got the Água De Jamaica, a Rupee Beer from India, and a Polar Beer from Venezuela which coincidentally matched the national origins of our food. They also take InKind and we had a 100 dollar gift card from Costco. To use it up we got the Latin Flan and Alfajores desserts to bring home with our leftovers. We look forward to returning to this location as well as the others.

Food was good for a quick lunch. Good flavors, but the options are rather pedestrian. I was hoping for authentic dishes rather than Americanized versions. The staff was very nice and the place was clean. I'm not sure if I would come back solely because there are more authentic street food options in the area.

The food was ok and the service was slow. The location is near the White House and the concept of the restaurant is unique. It blends many cultures together in one place. However, certain flavors can't be thrown together. Our dishes were mediocre at best. The flavors were not complimentary of each other. I could not finish my main dish. I'd like to believe it was an off day for Immigrant Food.I'd like to return and try something else in the future.

Lovely night sitting on the patio! Our server was really nice-- made sure we had no allergies and answered all of our menu questions. A really eclectic mix of cuisines and we tried a couple of small plates and sandwiches. The Filipino Fried Chicken was fantastic and the Venezuelan Tequenos just ok, but my Cuban Sandwich was the best cuban I've had and my husband loved his bahn mi.
