Delicious food, and nice ambiance. We visited for the first time last night and had a delicious meal! Two of us tried a 3-course special that they had running: I had the Shrimp Ajo, Lamb Shank Risotto, and Key Lime Tart. My husband had the Caesar salad, Beef Bourguignon Pappardelle, and German Chocolate cake. We will definitely be back! A couple highlights: food was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had delicious flavor. A musician was playing and singing classic songs which added to the ambiance. Online reservations were easy to make! The only (minor) downsides we found: the parking lot is small and space was limited. They also did run out of the chocolate mousse cake, but that was not a big deal (our reservation was 6:45pm so we were towards the end of the dinner rush by the time we got to dessert, so that happens).

Located in a small strip mall, Idylwood Grill and Wine Bar is an unexpected culinary treasure. While it offers the convenience of a parking lot, we opted for an Uber and were glad we did. With reservations in hand, we arrived to find only one other occupied table, providing an intimate dining experience. The service was exceptional, a standout factor that enhanced our evening. Additionally, discovering that Mondays offer 50% off wine bottles was a delightful bonus, perfect for wine enthusiasts. For my meal, I chose the lamb shank accompanied by risotto. The lamb was remarkably tender and bursting with flavor, truly a testament to the chef's expertise. Although the risotto lacked the classic "risotto wave," it was still wonderfully delicious. The portion sizes were generous, to the point that I, unfortunately, had no room left for dessert--a slight regret given the enticing options on display.

Popped in for a quick Restaurant Week Lunch and thoroughly enjoyed my food! I was greeted and seated promptly. Service was fast and friendly. There is ample seating inside and parking is readily available, too. I chose the Shrimp Ajo, Salmon Almond, and German Chocolate for my RW items. The Shrimp Ajo was AMAZING! I could have eaten another appetizer serving of it! My Salmon Almond dish was delish! The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the mustard sauce was a nice touch. I would order it again for sure. The German Chocolate Cake I enjoyed at home and it did not disappoint either! I was a bit disappointed with two things during my visit. First, the bathroom was not the cleanest. I visited about an hour before they closed for lunch and it wasn't busy. Just two other tables occupied besides my own. Maybe this was an off day or it was in between cleaning but I wasn't happy about that. The second issue was seeing an ant on my table after putting my entree down. It's cold outside and I know they tend to move in for warmth. I knocked it off then examined my food for any others. Didn't see anything so I'll chop it up to a one time thing. Neither of these deter me from returning and trying other menu items though.

The food is delicious, and the ambiance is delightful. That said, the portion sizes are rather small considering the price.

An oddly fancy little restaurant nestled in a shopping center behind Whole Foods in falls church. We made it for a late Sunday brunch, enjoying the Chicken Puccata Cappelini, Mushroom Ravioli, and Homestyle Breakfast (eggs, bacon and pancakes). The freshly-baked bread was a lovely touch. Our friend dug the Merguez sausage. The Caesar salad's dressing was not my fave.

Such a lovely dinner. One of the things I liked the most was that it wasn't loud! Food was great and service was attentive.

The food was delicious. I went on Christmas Eve and they had a special menu, but everything I tried was delicious. The service was also really great.

WORST VALENTINE'S DAY DINNERI have never felt the need to write a thorough review of a restaurant until now. Our experience at Idylwood Grill & Wine Bar on a Valentine's Day was nothing short of a disaster. A complete failure in service, management, and basic hospitality. We arrived at 2120H for our 2130H reservation, expecting a nice dinner. Upon arrival, there was no one to receive us immediately, despite a number of waitstaff at the bar/counter. When a staff member finally acknowledged us, he did not seem accommodating at all. Still, we proceeded with our reservation, knowing ahead of time that Idylwood was only offering their $79 three-course meal for the evening. We placed our orders promptly, around 2130H. At 2205H, we overheard the waiter asking the table beside us if they had ordered and received their appetizers which they hadn't. They arrived before us. At this point, we noticed other tables looking around, exchanging frustrated glances because, just like us, they had been waiting for too long.By 2220H, we had been sitting for nearly an hour with nothing-no appetizers, no questions, no explanation, nothing. I was hungry, exhausted, and sleepy, but we still gave them a chance, thinking surely our food must be coming soon.2230H, still no food. That was it. We got up and told the manager or head waiter that we had no idea what was happening, but we are leaving. An entire hour had passed, and we hadn't even received our first course. Now, let me be clear: I'm not writing this to compare this "chef-owned, family-run restaurant" to a Korean BBQ restaurant, because that would be unfair to both, it's like comparing apples to oranges. But service also matters. We ended up at a Korean BBQ place around 2300H, ordered immediately, had our food cooked and served in a few minutes and were out the door by 2330H. That's efficiency and basic hospitality.Idylwood may pride itself on its "contemporary American dishes infused with Italian, French, and Mediterranean flavors," but what does that matter when they can't even serve an appetizer within 10 minutes? What's the point of a special Valentine's Day menu if they clearly weren't prepared to handle the evening? This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I've had in years. Valentine's Day or not, this level of service is unacceptable.

I have been going to Idylwood Grill for many years and the food keeps getting better and better. This time my wife and I went there for Valentine's Dinner and words cannot describe how good their menu was this year. My wife had the Fish Duo and I had the Steakhouse Combo. Both tasted fresh and delicious! They were very busy, but we have come to realize that this place cooks everything from scratch so we didn't mind waiting for our food. Good food cannot be cooked at microwave speed. Keep up the good work Idylwood Grill!
