Hunan Delight - Vienna

Yesterday, May 15, 2024I am a creature of habit and venturing outside of my normal eating parameters usually throws me for a loop, but we had a high recommendation from a close family friend so I convinced my Mom to go with me and try something new. The inside of the restaurant was clean. Post COVID, I think everyone is doing a great job maintains sanitary regulations- especially for those of us who stay on the sickly side of the spectrum, but I digress. Our waiter was very nice- I forgot to get his name, but seriously the tallest Asian young man I have ever seen and built like a QB. Sat us down at our table and promptly handed us our menus and got us water in those cute glasses pictured.I ordered the fried wontons to start and this is the reason why they don't get 5 stars. I LOVE wontons; like I can eat them steamed or fried all day every day- the gooey, tender insides and the phyllo wrapping fried to perfection... these were not it. Idk if they were old or refried, but not enough meat, and too hard of a shell, but at least that dipping sauce was fire!For our main courses, Mom got sweet and sour chicken (SSC- she will eat this only in the restaurant because she likes it pre mixed in the sauce and when one orders delivery it comes separate.) and I ordered combination Pad Thai (chicken, beef, pork, extra tofu) because of our favorite is done right then everything else will be good too.I wasn't disappointed and was actually pleasantly surprised that Hunan Delight actually puts less sodium/salt/gmo/whatever it is into their food than my favorite restaurant. I wasn't overpowered by the need to drink water while eating food and was actually truly able to enjoy the plethora of flavors while I ate. Mom tried the Pad Thai but she isn't a fan of tofu lol her SSC was also very tasty- do not be deterred by the color. It is actually quite delicious. She eats smaller portions so took half her food home while I devoured mine. I also ordered beef and broccoli for my son who said it was delicious when he got home from school. I didn't have a need to eat more later that day because I remained full- something that doesn't happen with Chinese Food generally for us, but that is another plus in their favor!All in all, it was a great experience. $60- three hefty entrees and an appetizer plus tip. Sounds good and merited for all we received. We'll be back soon for sure!

On Mondays, many restaurants in the Vienna area are closed. We were happy to find that Hunan Delight was open for lunch. We had the whole restaurant to our selves for a "sit down lunch"; they did have a lot of carry out business.We had previously been here many times with large groups of people.This is one of only a few Chinese restaurants that will prepare "Crispy Beef". Just remember to tell them whether you want it "spicy" or "not spicy".

12/13/22Hunan to human food.Darkness and light.Gold and silver.Good and bad.Jolly good and Bloody Awful. And then there is Hunan Food. My wife was in the mood for Chinese Food. She went to Hunan Delight and all is find and dandy, until we ate the food. My chicken lo mein was very bland. My wife's chicken was overcooked. The greens she order were fine. Still, we have on positive and two negatives. And everything things okay in the math world. However, this has nothing to do with the memory in one mind about how the food made you feel. To me, I don't see myself ordering from here again.Human Delight might be the name of this business,But Human Delight was not so pleasing to us.Better luck with the next guests who eat here.

First thing I noticed as soon as I entered is the odor of the place. It smells like a middle low class apartment that wasn't cleaned well. After looking for a spot with a better smell, your best shot is to sit in the middle of the restaurant.Food was good!!! The fried calamari was too salty for my liking but the chicken and shrimp was dope The service was a little awkward but I think it's a cultural barrier but I guess that makes the food better, straight from china The kitchen lady was amazing, her mood was a vibe. Defo Imma get her number. 7.5/10 I will recommend.

The service was excellent! The food was absolutely fantastic! The recently opened their dining room and were obviously happy to be back. I had the chicken with asparagus which was delicious, the kung po (how it is spelled on the menu) chicken was outstanding!

Typical Chinese take out food restaurant. The location is a bit odd, not in the main part of Vienna. We have ordered take out twice and the food is decent, nothing to rave about, but not bad either. The hot sour soup here sucks, mostly liquid no substance; don't order it.Noodle soups, lo mein, chicken dishes we've tried are all pretty on par with other Chinese take out places. Prices are a few dollars more than neighboring Fairfax restaurants. Biggest complaint is the service. When you call to order, they are rushed, barely give you the time of day on questions, hang up without saying thank you or bye. When picking up there's no smile no thank you, barely even any eye contact.

Great food, nice service, plenty of parking. We had a carry out order and everything was hot, fresh and good portions for the price!

The good: there were four large shrimp in the Shrimp with Vegetables, and a generous quantity of beef in the Beef with Broccoli.The bad: the egg rolls were completely undercooked, not at all crispy, and the pastry inside was raw. The filling was shredded cabbage only.The large (3") broccoli pieces in both dishes were raw.The fried rice wasn't fried rice. No egg, no veggies, nothing. It was plain old white rice with a bit of soy sauce stirred in.Hunan Delight are cooking to the standards of 30 years ago, when substandard Chinese food was acceptable. And due to the laziness in their cooking, they don't even get there.Note: according to fda.gov, "Never eat or taste raw flour, dough, or batter." It's a health hazard.

Feast service. Food was delicious! We ordere pad Thai, drunken noodles and orange chicken. Dumplings were great.

I ordered chicken wings very dry couldn't eat it trashed Dumplings was absolutely rubbish Soup was cold.Customer service 0 the person who greet me at the front was rude I ask for a spicy sauce and was rudely told no I have to pay 50 cents.Imagine I ordered $86 worth of food.Never going back to this establishment.
