Hot Peppercorn (and it's former iteration, Golden Hong Kong) is one of our favs. We feel that for the quality of the food, consistency in service, and ambience this is one the best restaurants in Springfield. They have a great mix of traditional and American-Chinese favorites. Order every time: Dan Dan Noodles, Diced chicken with dry chili pepper (name does not do this justice...think crispy, salty, and just-right-spicy...so moreish!!!)Must trys: cumin lamb hot pot, chowfoon noodles, Mongolian beef, veggies dishes, dim sum dishesNote: don't expect to get a table on Chinese New Year or Mother's Day without a loooonnng wait. Otherwise there's usually very little wait.

Spent 2nd Christmas Day here with friends and this place took such a great care of us. We had a group of 8 people and staff were so patient and friendly even though they were so busy that night. They had a flow of people non stop. Their portions are pretty big and we shared a lot of dishes. I liked a lot roasted eggplant. It stood out a lot as I didn't expect it to be so good.

Not bad. As a Chinese person, I'd say a pretty authentic spot-- our server certainly spoke Cantonese and the menu items are mostly Hong Kong Style but they have some "szechaun style" items on the menu. The place never got fully packed on a Friday night, but certainly I hadn't heard of this place until my friends showed us.It's interesting to read some of the other reviews -- you know it's authentic, actually, when you order a dish that's labeled "seafood" and there's pork or chicken in there. It's common for Chinese food to have multiple meats... Because pescatarians and vegetarians are relatively rare in the culture. The food was overall decent.Chicken fried rice-- on the dry side, but portion was large. Decent flavor. Mayo prawns-- more breading on the shrimp than I usually like, but the flavor of the shrimp was good, it was cooked fine, broccoli was standard, steamed. Steamed shrimp dumplings (ha gow)-- I thought it was interesting that they serve dim sum for dinner, too. It made the menu even more extensive. And it wasn't bad at all. I just dim sum quality by their shrimp dumplings most of the time, and the skin was nice and thin, wasn't extra chewy or sticky, and there was a really good amount of shrimp in there. I would come back to try it on a weekend for breakfast to try everything else.Steamed pork (Siu Mai)-- had the pork dim sum too and that wasn't bad either. Peking Duck-- pricier as usual. Had to get it because we saw it hanging there. It took a little longer than the other food. Cooked fine and flavor was fine but slightly dry-might've been oldish duck. I thought the wraps were on the larger and thicker side which I don't prefer. Sauce was fine, green onions were fine-- I wish they had cucumber, though. Overall, would want to order this when they make it fresh -- it's definitely not cut in front of you or presented super nice, but the price was very reasonable. Overall, confirmed authentic. Prices are about right for the establishment-- a relatively good quality spot for what they're charging, but there will be some freshness swaps. I'll likely be back.

Catered a Chinese New Year lunch at the office. Arrived on time! Everything we ordered was delicious! The crispy beef was a big hit. The Singaporean noodles, stir fry veggies, sweet and sour chicken were tasty and cooked perfectly! Highly recommend!

Clean, with good food and decent prices. I was surprised that it wasnt busy on a Thursday night and only one other couple was dining. The service was ok and the food came out pretty quickly. The menu had a very nice selection of dishes and also a separate dim sum menu! I tried not to order everything from it and succeeded only ordering 7 items- All which were delicious. Also, they have chrysanthemum tea which was soothing, fragrant and delightful.

Real Sichuan flavor! You can tell they're using Sichuan pepper and it's incredibly balanced and deep in flavor. I was happy to see (maybe fermented?) black beans in some of the dishes. The dishes here have so much umami without overwhelming spiciness (mala). We ordered a feast and thought it was a deal. The rising cost of food made us think the bill was going to be much higher (we order with hearts and view eating out as a treat). The fair prices mean we'll be back sooner rather than later. The inside is very traditionally decorated. I've seen some of the other restaurants in 7 Corners redecorate to be modern and I dislike some of those choices. Staff came by to check on us to refill water and to make sure everything was good. This was our first time going after smelling it so many times going to the Trader Joe's next door. I wish we had gone sooner. 0 complaints from me. Great local spot!

Stopped by Hot Peppercorn restaurant in Springfield as it is directly next to Trader Joes's and we needed to grab lunch. I definitely had higher expectations for this spot, however it barely made the mark. Upon walking in, the restaurant has many large tables and booths, we were seated at a booth. There were at least 5 other tables there. I received the dim sum menu and the regular menu. Of course we ordered a few dim sum dishes, plus a few dishes from the regular menu: diced chicken with chili, eggplant with spicy garlic sauce. And the other dishes from the dim sum menu were: sesame balls with red bean, string beans and Chinese broccoli. I liked the Chinese broccoli the best, it was only steamed veggies with a side of sauce. And the string beans. However the diced chicken with chili is a huge No, it was filled with so much breading I barely tasted any chicken. The entire thing was breading! really horrible. I reckon there were no pieces of chicken! And the eggplant was good, came out still piping hot. It came with black funghi mushroom in a brown sauce. Overall the dishes were decent, however hard pass on the dice chicken with chili unless you want to be eating fried breading. And get the string beans and Chinese broccoli from the dim sum menu. Nothing overly special.
