Horace and Dickies Seafood

Tried this place on Mothers Day and it was ok. My husband went inside and picked up the food, so I did not get a chance to experience the service or see inside. I had a shrimp, crab cake, fish platter with fries and the only thing that I enjoyed was the shrimp. Hip Hop fish taste better to me. I am not sure If they were having an off day, but I do know I don't ever have to eat their again.

The food is bland and not seasoned, and over priced. It was the smell of gas and the staff member stated that they just turned the burners on.

Food mid, customer service mid, Ambiance mid. Ordered food just to arrive to the order not even fulfilled yet. I miss the Horace and Dickies in DC

So I was in the mood for some fish and I remembered that Horace and Dickies had a spot over in Waldorf so I decided to stop in. Did you know that it's a bar in here??? You know I had to get the scoop for us! It's open to 12 every night. They got 8 tvs, 7 booths, 4 table tops with stools and of course the bar. They got brunch every other Saturday with unlimited mimosas and the traditional breakfast food such as shrimp and grits, waffles, French toast, eggs and more. Seems to me that it's expanded more than just fish!! The waiter was attentive to the small crowd that was there so that's a plus. Expect that if you order via the app, to wait an additional time outside of the suggested time of pickup but no worries cause it was fresh and hot! Everything was good and I'll def be back for brunch!

Ooooooo, Horace & Dickies fried whiting on white bread? Don't mind if I doooooo... This is kind of a dive style carryout, but the location is clean and the staff has been warm and friendly during my visits to pickup takeout.While not necessarily as well seasoned as I've enjoyed at the DC H&D location over the years, our orders have been freshly fried to golden crispness I like for my fish and fries and I'd honestly prefer a little under seasoned than too salty... I wouldn't call Horace and dickies bland either and some hot sauce and tartar on my sandwiches from them does my tummy just right. I do think the portions for the prices could be better, but as long as they keep dishing out my orders hit and fresh with a smile and in the time they say my food will be ready, I'll find myself right back for Horace and Dickies fried fish sandwiches and French fries on the go. I haven't tried any of the other sides from them though and will report beck when I do.

Sunday night whomever is cooking in the kitchen is the one! Hot, fresh and seasoned to perfection. I've seen some of the reviews and was hesitant to give it a try but I'm glad I went anyway. 6 pc whiting with fries, a classic, was everything I needed it to be. See you soon H&D - Waldorf.

The level customer service for this establishment is rare in the DMV area. I've never eaten here previously. First of all, I ordered Catfish, yams, greens and Mac via Grubhub around 6:30pm on a Sunday. Around 7:00 I received a call from an unknown number that happened to be this restaurant calling to let me know that Grubhub cancelled my order she wanted me to know that they were open and they Grubhub incorrectly cancelled my order due to the restaurant's closure. I ended up driving 20 minutes to pick the order up myself. The love I felt from the business was genuine! She even gave me strawberry Hennessy cake for the trouble- which is amazing. Definitely a southern vibe that I love and miss- the food was pretty amazing as well and seasoned/cooked to perfection. Thank you for the experience and southern hospitality to a fellow southern girl.

The food was absolutely horrible. :(. We had the whiting sandwich, wings, fries and fried okra. No toppings are offered for the sandwiches expect condiments. Everything was cooked in old grease and overcooked.

Now Horace & Dickie's Seafood Carryout (Waldorf location) should be absolutely ashamed of this ball of bread they call a crab cake. They basically gave me a big hush puppy! There was absolutely NO crab and that's no exaggeration. Not to mention the greens were flavorless, smelled horrible and had some type of slimy film on them and the yams taste like nutmeg. Not worth the $33 at all.

Horace and Dickies is more like HORRIBLE and NOT DELICIOUS. I ordered several selections to get a feel for this place. The GOOD: Ordering on line was a breeze (although they failed to follow the comments I left) and the food was ready when I arrived. The BAD: 1- Order was missing food. 2- The food is WAY over priced. 3- Party Wings were crispy. However zero seasoning including salt. 4- Cole Slaw was very thick with mayo and tasteless. 5- Fries no salt and very soft. 6- All of the fish ( catfish, whiting and trout) was mushy, dry and over cooked and yes without seasoning. 7- Shrimp... that's right tasteless and over cooked 8- Oysters waaaaaay over fried. 9- You can taste that the oil needs to be changed as it gave a burnt fishy taste to all the food...even the fries. They do not vent there containers which causes everything that should be crisp to become soggy. Next time I get a taste for fish. I'll grab a McFish from McDonalds and will be over joyed. Good luck to You... Cause I won't be returning EVER!!!!
