Hops N Shine

This is our go-to spot for burgers in the area! We usually order a build-your-own sandwich and add the burger patty. The build-your-own sandwiches are SUPER customizable with different cheeses, meats and toppings, along with different breads (even have some keto options) and sides. We also are big fans of their huge pretzel with beer cheese that's SO delicious! All in all, really consistently good spot and the prices are fair too.

Came for the beer check-ins, but was a little disheartened by the location. We pulled up for a drink and weren't sure if we'd stay as it's suspiciously lodged in a rundown plaza, next to a large 7-11. The inside is narrow and long, but pleasantly cool, and the back has a large patio area with picnic benches and dog bowls. On the way in I noticed a sign with daily activities. There's something happening here every day of the week, and every week there is a theme. Tonight just happened to be "music bingo" and the theme was a popularly requested "kpop". You have no idea how surprised we were with the theme. We sat down like, kpop?! Here?! Sponsored by Greak Lakes brewery even! :DOrdering food was easy with a menu and a QR code menu that almost matched, but ordering drinks? A lot of scrolling. No physical menu. No divisions between beer and long drink and cider. Ugh.The music bingo ended up being ok as in not too loud. I like kpop in general so didnly mind listening to millennial kpop (classics!) So we then proceeded to order an appetizer platter where the fried pickles were surprisingly good. The chicken tenders were a great size (and taste), especially when ordered as a "my date is not hungry" add-on (with fries). The tatchos were excellent and I feel like I'll have to return just to try out the loaded tots and chili tots (because yassss)Overall it seemed like a wholesome, kid- and pet-friendly sit-down restaurant where the whole fam can enjoy delicacies like peach lonkero (Finnish long drink) :DService was friendly and hospitable.

They recently transitioned to new management, and I'm loving it! More events will be coming there soon! So many beers on draft and bottled to choose from plus a full bar. Great place for casual dining and late night food as well! Cozy inside with a nice big patio in the back that can also be covered and heated when it's cold. I love me some chicken tenders and these were on point - crispy but juicy inside and not dry. I was curious to try the banh mi sausage dog. Normally, Asian fusion food tends not to go well but it was actually pretty good. The spices and aioli sauce were very balanced. I asked the bartender to surprise me with a drink. I wanted to try something new. She did a great job with a ginger beer, tequila and grapefruit cocktail! They have comedy, trivia, barks and brews animal rescue nights, and music bingo and karaoke nights will be there soon! I'm excited! If anyone knows me, I run an extremely large karaoke group, and we are always looking for new places. The place is clean, intimate, not too bright, and such a friendly neighborhood bar. I'm looking forward to going back for all of these new events!

Went here the other day with a friend. Neither of us had been before. They have a wide selection of beers on tap so points for that. The beer was warm though. Seemed like they were having an issue with their cooling system. The woman who served us was very friendly, personable and engaging. She deserves 5 stars. It seemed frantic though. The servers were running from the bar to the outside and then serving indoors as well. Just came across unmanaged. We sat out back since it was a warmer day. It smelled like gasoline or propane so we had to move a few times. I think the space could be improved to make it more inviting and comfortable. Many people had their dogs so that's a plus. The parking lot is small, shared with other businesses and is at a crappy and very busy intersection. Warm beer + gas smell + atmosphere = we won't be bad. There are better spots in the del ray area for outdoor beer drinking.

I literally just sat here and watched a food order sit at pickup station for 5 minutes until customer finally just got up and picked it up themselves after verifying with the cook that it was their order. That should never happen. Running a restaurant is not rocket science.

Went here for the first time with a couple of friends. They had been before and recommended it.I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and friendly wait staff. It has a friendly neighborhood feel to it that I really appreciated. Great beer selection though I am not much of beer drinker these days. I always gravitated towards stouts and Belgian brews. They had some delectable sounding stouts that made me sad wheat is my nemesis now.Even so, there were some respectable though limited wine choices though I ended up with a lovely gin and cranberry seltzer type drink. If I had Uber-ed there I would definitely have had a moonshine cocktail. I'll save that for next time.Good food selection and definitely plenty of non wheat options. One of my friends swears by the three cheese grilled cheese and tots. It looked amazing especially if you eat wheat and dairy.Other friend got jalapeño poppers which looked good and I got sweet fries. They spent a bit too much time in the oven as they came out a little burnt on the edges, but they were still pretty good.It was trivia night and though we didn't officially play, I think as a team we did alright. Solid place and I hope to return to again.

Great place to come and hangout! We came with a happy hour group and were able to hangout on the back patio with a fire pit. They have a small space inside but have a nice dog friendly patio space in the back. The food and drinks were delicious, but felt bad for the staff as they seemed swamped due to a large reservation on the back patio. Overall would definitely come back here as it's got some great food and drinks!

Not sad to say this place has fallen and not worth it. No one recognizes you when you come in since they are too busy on their phone to pay attention. Then the bartender goes, what are you staying or what? We were standing there very obviously waiting for you to take our order. We asked about the back and the bartender goes NOPE! And doesn't even look at us. We left without ordering and won't be back.

Nestled between a laundry mat and a 7-11, Hops N Shine is a little unassuming from the outside. But what it lacks from first impression, it makes up for once you walk in. Family friendly, live music, great food, and plenty of drinks (cocktails, moonshine, beer, and wine). Live music on Saturday is great. The food is fantastic (recommend burger melt). Can't go wrong with the drinks. The clientele was chill and servers were friendly. Overall worth a visit, and if all else fails hit them up to go!

Reason for the low score was service, food, and environment . Our server was definitely drunk, he was spilling beer everywhere and it was dripping when he handed it to me. I watched as he continued to spill every beer he served and was confused at what table ordered what. He was even "nice" enough to shake his hand off right next to me splattering me with beer. I mentioned it to the manager aka bartender but didn't seem to care. Food was ok. Jalapeño poppers weren't spicy at all. My wife and I sat outside and they never bothered to come back and give us water. There was live music with a guitarist which would have been nice except parents with kids come to have adult time while their kids run around on the outdoor patio. Not the environment I want to drink in. Outdoor patio is also less than inviting. Will not be returning.
