Honeymoon Chicken

This is a no brainer. Easily 5/5 stars for this place. I have never heard of a fried chicken place receiving a Michelin Bib so I definitely had to try it out. This place is a bit small and it was surprisingly packed for a Sunday Afternoon but that didn't deter me at all. We waited about half an hour before being sat, they do have tables outside if you want a shorter wait but I felt the experience is best experienced indoors where the birds aren't harassing you when you're eating juicy, delicious chicken.Besides the retro themed aesthetics of this place, each table has a QR code where you are redirected to a site to start a tab by yourself or with the whole group. I think this is very convenient as you can pay your tab and not have to rely on a server to flag down if you need to leave early, ect. Of course I got the four piece meal with the two rolls along with wedges. There is a upcharge if you'd like it " Honeymoon Style " which is just their signature Hot Honey. A sticky ordeal but very worth it in every bite.The chicken and the rolls came out quick and I was delighted to take a bite. Have you ever ate something so good where your eyes rolled back? That was me pondering if this is the best chicken I have ever eaten. The wedges were alright but they weren't anything different from other places. The rolls? Don't even get me started. Those rolls are just as good as the chicken, if not even better. My friends ordered 6 more rolls just because they were that good!I also got an Arnold Palmer and it was also the right balance of Sweet Tea/Lemonade.Will I come back? Absolutely. I really do think that this place is amazing and anyone in search of delicious fried chicken should look no further!

france has the eiffle tower, new york the statue of liberty, but D.C., D.C. has Michelin recognized fried chicken- this place actually has a cult following and instagram clout, so i was ecstatic to finally try it - my dining companion and I split a signature hot honey dipped bucket which came with 8 pieces of chicken and 4 rolls- the rolls are soft, reminiscent of Texas Roadhouse rolls, the honey butter is the best part - the chicken was definitely not your average fried chicken. the pieces were massive, a thin outer of crispy heaven surrounding actually large massive pieces of moist perfectly cooked chicken. sometimes fried chicken doesn't really taste like chicken at all but these had so much meat that I think I hit my protein goals in one meal- at first, I was disappointed by the hot honey dip because it seemed like a lot of the pieces just had a little bit on that outer coating. because theyre so meat heavy you don't get a ton of flavor without any sauce to continuously dip in. however, the pieces at the bottom that we're sitting in the pool of the sauce were perfect and able to maintain flavor once those first bites of the outer layer is gone.

Was visiting DC and looked on Yelp to see if there was a good fried chicken place nearby and happy I found Honeymoon Chicken. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, the place looked very clean and the food was delicious. The fried chicken was the best I had while in DC. It was amazing! The honey butter rolls were my second favorite and the potato wedges were amazing. Deducting a star for the Mac and cheese as it was not good at all, lacked flavor and the cheese sauce was super watery. Otherwise, would definitely return for everything else.

10000 times YES! Came to DC for a work trip and was told about this hole in the wall Michelin Fried Chicken. Had my hotel been closer I would have come back every single day! The place was cozy and quaint with barcodes on the table for you to order and pay. Prices were extremely reasonable for a nice portion and the food came out so quick!I ordered the Montees Sweet Sorrel, which was just like I know it to taste from the islands. YUM! Next up was the 2 piece of dark meat (oh yeah you get to pick between white and dark) with the hot honey sauce and a side of Brussels. We also ordered the Kale and Bleu Cheese Salad and the Mac and Cheese because WHY NOT?! The chicken meal came with a piece of warm Hawaiian roll topped with a honey butter and salt (just what you never knew you always wanted). The chicken itself was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside with an explosion of flavors. Again, I would have come back here EVERYDAY! All of the sides were great, but the clear star of the show were the Brussel Sprouts. Absolutely delicious! There was no room for dessert but we left completely satisfied and ready to come back for more.

This spot is a true gem. The fried chicken is crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. But what really takes it over the top is their hot honey dust--it's amazing! It's sweet, spicy, and just the right kick of heat to elevate every bite.A heads up: they don't take reservations, so expect a wait--especially since the place is always buzzing and the seating is very limited. But trust me, it's totally worth it. You order through a QR code at the table so it's very hands off. Sauces are $1 extra but are much needed! We always come back for more!!

This place has the efficiency of a fast casual restaurant but the charm of a local corner cafe. The food was very good (I appreciate that the spicy was indeed spicy) and the sweet rolls were so soft--they practically melt in your mouth!The servers were very attentive and accommodating and the food was nicely plated and reasonably priced esp in this economy. Will definitely be back!

A friend and I bopped in here after an event we'd attended after seeing other patrons with the food bag. Located on the corner of Upshur and Georgia Ave in Petworth, it's super easy to spot! Upon our arrival, the dining area was full (all booths were taken) but the bar area was open so we sat there. It was both of our first times being there so we didn't know what to expect. The hostess didn't really provide any instruction or even ask us if this was our first time dining there. She just told us that it was ok for us to sit at the bar. Once we sat down, we were immediately greeted by someone else who provided us with water. At that point, my friend grabbed 2 menus from the hostess stand (the same one who didn't say anything) and we browsed the menu. Again, by it being our first time there, we were expecting someone to come to us for our order. It wasn't until one of the employees prepping the meals told us to use the QR code to order that we did. Ordering was super easy and very convenient. The process was honestly one of my favorites. It had every option and add-on option clearly spelled out. Because I wanted a leg and wing, I ordered the 3 piece meal. Each meal comes with 2 dinner rolls and I added the Mac and cheese! The chicken was piping hot when we received it (which wasn't going after ordering! It was juicy and crispy. The honey dust also to add extra flavor! Next time I go, I will try one of the honey drizzles (which is an up charge FYI)The Mac and cheese was not the best I've had but was pretty standard for what you're expecting. It was good, though. I wanted to try the potato wedges but decided against it. The dinner rolls...my favorite part of the meal! Overall, I'd give Honeymoon a 3.5 to 4 out of 5 stars! Service can be improved ESPECIALLY for first timers. Never assume someone knows your policy and the hostess could've been a little friendlier. Everyone else in the establishment was great! And after the chicken cooked a bit, it could noticeably have used a tad more seasoning but again, the honey dust or other honey options really does enhance the taste! I'd go back to try something else for sure!

The last time I had their chicken I was so disappointed! My chicken was spicy and I ordered the original honey base chicken and that is not what I received. The batter on the chicken was different and was falling off. It was darker than usually. This chicken is not cheap so to spend 40 dollars on two order and not be satisfied is not good! I did call and the manager said they might have given me hot honey chicken instead. We don't live near the restaurant to return it. The manager did y and accommodate me for another order for another day. Just check your chicken before you leave the restaurant.

I can't say enough great things about Honeymoon Chicken in DC! The food was absolutely incredible, so much so that I found myself eating there twice in just one week.From the perfectly crispy chicken to the flavorful sides, every bite was a delight. The seasoning was spot on, and the chicken was juicy and tender. You can tell they put a lot of thought and care into their recipes.The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a meal, Honeymoon Chicken delivers on all fronts.

Omg! It is so good! I especially like chicken and waffles. I'm in heaven! It is worth it! Strawberry lemonade is the best, and I can refill it again! This is my third time already!
