Hip Flask Rooftop Bar

Service: my friends and I sat at the bar so the bartenders were very attentive. Erick, the manager there is super sweet! Food: we were there for cocktails. I had the whiskey sour and my friend started with an espresso martini then switched to a dirty martini. My drink was SO GOOD! Ambiance: we got there around 5:30-6pm with a decent crowd in a Saturday. It got more crowded around 7:30ish. BONUS:They even have some igloos you can rent outdoors on Thursdays (minimum $250 food and beverages) and weekends (minimum $300 food and beverage) the igloos are heated and can sits about 6 people.

As much as I love this place, I can't overlook the behavior of one of their employees. I have been a regular customer since they first opened, and overall, I've had great experiences. However, my opinion changed when they hired an employee with a poor attitude (and I'm not the only one who has noticed this). I didn't want to mention a previous bad experience, thinking it was a one-time issue.A few months ago, I invited some friends, many of whom had never been there before, because I genuinely enjoyed the place. Unfortunately, they had a negative experience, as one of the bartenders was very rude to them for no reason.I asked another bartender to address it, but let it go without escalating to management.A few weeks ago, some of my friends, who also go there, encountered the same employee, and he asked them - Where's your f****ng Russian b**ch friend? Well, I'm not Russian, but thank you for pointing out my accent, and it's completely inappropriate to refer to any customer in that manner.I hope to continue supporting this establishment without encountering this kind of hostility, especially when all I've done is ask for politeness toward my friends.

Ok, first the good: Ambience is great! Decent views from the rooftop - on a clear day. If it rains - no cover outside, you have the bar area inside but no real views of the city. Service is good, not great. Sometimes you have to search for your server.The "not-so-good":The drinks are WEAK. I was there for a birthday HH on a a Sat, had about 8 drinks and I was still pretty sober. Drinks are like water - but prices like gold - about $25 each!!! So 2 drinks I could have bought a bottle and e nice & mellow with a quarter of it - just sayin'.Food was good, but small portions (is it meant to be tapas?) I don't remember (nothing to do with those weak drinks) , but went there twice, and same opinion. Go for the view, after U had a few, maybe to cap the night off, but bring your wallet!

Went on a Saturday. The vibe was nice but I won't return unless: they hire a DJ or have some sort of live music. The elevator music from the speaker wasn't cutting it. Drinks are way too expensive ...y'all can afford to hire a DJ and plus people would stay longer and order more! Especially for the weekends.

My family surprised me with a birthday celebration at this spot, and it was such a memorable experience! We gathered in one of the outdoor igloos, which was cozy and warm despite the chilly weather. The ambiance was fantastic--you can play your own music, and the refreshing scent of incense added a nice touch. While the cocktails were sweeter than we expected (possibly due to the regular bartender being absent that day), we still enjoyed the variety of cocktails and small bites. The rooftop itself is lovely and conveniently close to home, making it a place I'd definitely consider visiting again!

I visited Hip Flask for the first time and absolutely loved the vibe! It's a casual rooftop bar with a laid-back, unpretentious atmosphere. Our server was incredibly friendly and gave great recommendations, especially for my indecisive friend. I went with a margarita, and it was superb! The upbeat music added to the lively ambiance. I'd definitely recommend checking out Hip Flask!

This city girl loves herself a rooftop! If I'm in Bethesda it's probably because I'm at Woodmont grill and if I'm at Woodmont, I'm coming to Hip Flask Rooftop Bar!Located in the Marriott on the top floor you exit the elevator and typically you'll see a doorman. Sometimes there are waits but I've never actually had to wait, larger parties seem to have to hang out before they will let you in. Drink prices are your normal standard prices. Bartenders stay busy but tend to you quickly. I love to sit outside when weather permits.Always my end game when doing dinner in Bethesda. Can't go wrong coming here! Definitely a live spot. Fun fun fun!

This is a cute after hours place! I visited here with a friend for an after work meet up. The staff was really friendly. The cocktail list was very unique. I had the Nikiwi and it was so refreshing and delicious! The view from the rooftop was gorgeous. There is inside and outside seating. There is a parking garage across the street from the hotel. Parking was free at the time I went. (After 5 on a Friday). I def plan to return!

Hip Flask is part of the Marriott hotel and has a separate side entrance for those not staying at the hotel. As suggested in the name it's located on a rooftop and there's both indoor and outdoor seating. There wasn't too much space and it was quite crowded but service was fast and the drink was good!

Visited Hip Flask Rooftop bar several times to find the bartender staff extremely rude finding that there is a compulsory 20% service charge stacked atop the bar tab making the beverages very expensive. Nice rooftop setting for downtown Bethesda but clearly being forced to pay the 20% service charge doesn't help motivate the rude bar staff to provide standard service. Other reviews posted point to the rude bartenders-Long wait times, being ignored and a hostile attitude opposite of hospitality doesn't seem to justify a mandatory 20% reward on bad service!
