Handover by the Slice is located on the corner of King Street in Old Town. The restaurant serves cold beer and slices of pizza.I came to Handover right at lunch time. The pizzas are located right at the front as soon as you walk in the restaurant. It made it a little difficult to see what pizza slice options were available with other people in line. The person before me ordered the slice I wanted, by the time I placed my order. However I did not have to wait long for a new pie to come out. The pepperoni slice was a decent size. The pizza was tasty. The crust had a texture that I was not a fan of, but overall I did like the pizza.

Grabbed 2 slices of cheese pizza and 2 drinks for $18. The cheese pizza was mediocre, over priced for what it is. Crust was very thin. Service was fine. It's a small little walk in. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Alexandria, VA - Old Town is a great place to walk around but is not exactly a bargain area for food when one's a bit peckish. That's where Handover by the Slice comes in. The husband and I needed a bit of snack before dinner without a huge investment of time or money. I'm glad we skipped Taco Bell in favor of this little place. For a little over $10 we received two hotSlices and a 16 ounce Diet Coke. Service was fairly quick and efficient though it seemed like a lot of items that should be near at hand were in the back? Perhaps a re stocking issue happened and there was only one employee who we could see at the time. A nice bonus was the watching out the plate glass window. Well worth the cost of the slices. When you need a no fuss snack in Old Town check out Handover by the Slice.

Handover by the Slice is a small slice shop that is located right off of King; in the evenings, they open up their bar, King's Ransom, located on their 2nd floor.I saw this place while picking up lunch from an eatery next door, so I knew I had to stop by to check them out.Their menu offers various appetizers (such as garlic knots, jalapeno poppers, onion rings, etc.), salads, specialty pizzas (by-the-slice or as a full 18" pie), as well as a build-your-own option (not by-the-slice, though, but for full 18" pies only). The pizzas that they had available when I walked in were the Cheese, pepperoni, Veggie, White, Buffalo Chix, BBQ Chix, and the Daily Special (which was a combo of banana peppers and sausage) - I opted for the Buffalo Chix. The slice was extremely large and generous, and it couldn't even fit in the slice container! The crust is crunchy, and in between a pan and a thin crust. The toppings were just okay - I thought it was interesting that they used boneless battered chicken chunks as their toppings; not much of a buffalo sauce, and I wished they had more red onions. The slice was on the bland side, and adding Parm and the chili flakes only helped it slightly.Even though the slice was heated, I think it should have been heated more as it was still slightly cold, because, you know, I like my items to be piping hot!Service was very friendly, and there were counter seating and bar seating inside. I thought it was cool that they had two vintage arcade games.I wouldn't be opposed to try them again for another slice, but would definitely request for the slice to be heated all the way through!+pizza by-the-slice+bland toppings+request more of a heat through for the slices+friendly service+seating available inside

What a pleasant surprise! I stumbled upon this great pizza place in Old Town. Hands down the best pizza in the DMV. It's really close to a NYC slice with great flavor. The service was great and it took only a couple of seconds to warm up my slice. I will be back! #HappyEating

Excellent slices! BUT come on! Pizza is very inexpensive to make. The size of your slices leave me wondering if you guys know the business at all. @3.50$/slice plus the obligatory tip shaming, you can definitely afford to make 16" pie slices. Better yet, make the pies for slices a little bigger to make slices that will make your store a landmark in OLD Towne and not a place that will be gone next year. MAKE YOUR SLICES 10-15% larger and your business will double.Your pizza's crust makes your pizza because it is re-heated in those 1000w ovens to achieve an irresistible crunchy slice. Your pizza slices are awesome but always room for improvement. We came in to day and had four slices.

This is a good option for groups and/or tourists who are looking for a quick bite or to be able to walk and eat. There are a few pizza options and seating. It's not really a place to dwell or meet up, but they have drinks and space (there is a bar upstairs too). Service was attentive and the pizza was warmed up quickly. I didn't particularly like the pizza; the sauce is sweeter than I prefer and the cheese doesn't have much depth in flavor. Better than Papa John's but honestly, Wegmans pizza is better. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood though.

Old Town Alexandria has a brand-new destination for pizza by the slice: Handover by the Slice! It's totally impressive - there were eight pies from which to choose when I stopped by earlier today, and (I'm sorry I didn't get her name) our host described each pie, and I selected the meat-lover's slice. She popped my slice on an aluminum tray, heated it, and in the meantime, I checked out the wine and beer selections. I chose a local lager (which was outstanding!) and dove into my slice once it had been heated up. I ate most of the slice at the counter - just the right temp - didn't scald and wasn't lukewarm. The toppings were outstanding!I am so grateful for Handover - it's now possible to walk into Old Town Alexandria with less than $100 to spend and still end up with great food for four! Cheese pizza is $3.50 a slice, everything else (like the one I got) is $4.50. Beer and wine are similarly fairly priced. This is a major destination slice joint, so I'm talking to you DVM! New York-style thin, awesome tomato sauce, crisp crust that I devoured on my walk to the Metro bus stop five minutes away. Right now, it's open Sunday-Wednesday 11am-10pm; Thursday 11am-12am; Friday-Saturday 11am- 2am. If Old Town ever becomes enlighten enough to ban sidewalk scooters and encourage a local performance venue (one that can honestly compete with the awesome bands brought to King Street by the Light Horse and Murphy's), I predict that enjoying a slice from the Handover will be the crowning achievement of a less-expensive but awesome date night in Old Town. And for those of you over 21, there's a speakeasy right upstairs! Look online for King's Ransom: enter via the stairs from The Handover. I'll say no more.

I loved this place. Last night, ordered a fresh white pizza. They sent me on a 15 minute walk while it was 'made fresh.' Picked up the box and realized it was quite cold - and upon opening discovered that I'd been given me an insane hybrid of 3 old pizzas. I'm_appalled this business would package old product and sell it as fresh product and you need to work on your quality control. It is really too bad, the pizza was quite good when not a scam. This was replaced with a fresh pizza when I walked back to show the box to staff. Regardless of making it right afterward, this experience creeps me out, and makes me uneasy about the business model. Won't be back.

I agree with most of the other posters that the size is very generous however, I find the flavor and the amount of topics to be both lacking and also kind of limited and miserlyI found the pepperoni pizza to be very bland both in the pepperoni slices flavor and also in the sauce and the cheese The pizza slice that I have was mediocreI know this is kind of low pay service job, but I also found the person gentleman providing service to be almost ungracious in his responses to my questions like he was just trying to service me to get me to move along It could be that he is from a foreign country does not speak English as a first language and may not be very well grounded in American culture, but his demeanor kind of the vibration of our conversation and diminish the service experience ------- side commentAlthough this has nothing to do with the nature of the service business and the food business, I missed the original business that used to be there Eamons chippery that served fried fish and chips-----------I can see from a business model that serving slices of pizza might be a better and more affordable option in today's inflated food service industry, five dollars a slice with all taxes seems to be on par with the inflated food prices
