I got the combination chicken and lamb on the salad. It's delicious and fresh!! The first thing I ate were the chick peas!!! They are so delicious, a suggestion would be to offer them as a side because I surely would eat them alone! Nice portions although I asked for extra lamb since I need more protein.Excellent food, great prices and great customer service!!

Halal Grill came to our school fair and their food was excellent. We booked them through Goodfynd, and they were so easy and pleasant to work with. During the fair, the food was served quickly and it was delicious. The chicken over rice and the chicken with pita were popular with families as well the gyro with pita. Everything was so flavorful and they offered generous servings of proteins. We'd love to have them back next year!

It's ok. I was hoping it would be really tasty, but it was alright. The gyro was all chopped up, and there wasn't a whole lot of salad on my gyro on salad plate. I don't think I'll be ordering from this truck again.

One of the best deals around. 1) This isn't your chicken and rice from the famous Halal Guys truck (aka 53rd and 6th in NYC) but I think the food here is honestly better. The chicken has tremendous flavor. The chickpeas (which they sometimes don't have which sucks) are a nice add-on. And the vegetables always seem fresh. I actually strangely think the rice is the star of this plate. It's not really seasoned or prepared in any special way, but it goes so well with the chicken, gyro, and sauce. The white sauce and hot sauce are good, not great, but they suffice. Some may think it's a bad thing that they only have a few dishes to offer, but I think it shows that they really focus on making sure the food they do produce is top notch. 2) Value is the best. When other food trucks are charging minimum $10 per entrée, this truck charges 25% less and they don't skimp out on food either. Every time I have food from there, I am guaranteed to be stuffed after. Honestly, sometimes I avoid eating here just because I know I don't have self-control and I will regret feeling super full the rest of the afternoon. 3) Service is really fast here. They keep it simple and the food comes out quick. Give this place a shot if you haven't already. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

Have you found yourself down on the Washington Mall around lunch time? Was the hunger alarm ringing? You have got a few options. Most of the museums have a place where crowds of people gather to eat so so food at too high a cost. Or the food trucks that are visible will be happy to sell you some variation on a hot dog. If neither of these options are all that appealing, consider this. One block south of the Mall is Maryland Avenue. There you will find about a dozen food trucks offering cuisines from around the world.Today I tried one for the first time. But which to choose? Since there were 4 middle eastern trucks, I chose the one with the longest line. Line length can be a random aberration, or it can represent some combination of better quality or cheaper price. The longest line was at the Halal Grill Food Truck.I went with the combination platter. Salad, garbanzo beans in a curry sauce, gyro, and seasoned chicken over rice. Everything was scrumptious. The garbanzo beans were a little soft, keeping the meal from being perfect. Throw in a bottle of water, $10 for a filling lunch. There were benches to sit on, or the lawn also beckoned. A 4 piece band with a lead singer was filling the air with great tunes. Sunshine, 70 degrees, perfection. The scene takes place by the L'enfant Plaza Metro Station. One word of caution. Most of the trucks disappear after lunch time.

So, this truck frequents Farragut Square quite often but I just tried it for the first time this week and I have to say that I'm very pleased. I liked the food so much that I went again the next day. On both days, I got the chickpeas over rice but on the first day, I got just the white sauce and the mild red sauce (I was too chicken to get the spicy sauce because I kept thinking about the hot sauce from the Halal Guys). On the second day, I got the hot sauce and it was good but nothing that I couldn't handle. The service is fast and the food is good. Both times my meal had good flavor and wasn't salty. Also, the biggie is the fact that it was $6.60 with tax. It's hard to find a meal that filling for less than $10.00 on a food truck. This truck gives you a great bang for your buck. Maybe the next time I see them, I'll dare to be different and try something else.

RJ and I grabbed gyros at this truck because they had a guy giving out samples and it was good. But when we actually got the gyros, they had little meat, and an enormous amount of onions. The lamb was tasty but the gyros were disappointing, especially at $8 each. We also bought water for $1 from a man wearing super man pajamas, that was the best deal of the day.

There was a pretty decent line by the time I arrived, but they serve food efficiently, so it wasn't a long wait at all! I ordered the chicken over rice, which was well-priced given the portions served. The chicken is marinated in this fire-engine-red sauce, but it's not as spicy as it looks (given, I only requested white sauce and no additional hot sauce). It was perfectly mild. Although the platter was good overall, I give only 4 stars because I often went to halal food trucks while I was in college in NJ, and this food truck didn't stand a chance against the flavor of the food trucks from up north. Nonetheless, I would happily come back the next time I'm in DC!

This is probably my favorite Chicken over Rice Platter I've had in Washington DC. Just pure, excellently cooked Chicken, absolutely incredible white sauce, and really good Brown Rice. If you like spice definitely get a side of their hot sauce. I can't recommend this food truck enough for any middle eastern food fan. The only sad part is that they used to be at 12th Street NW DC where my job is, but now they park at K street and L'Enfant Plaza.
