I had an incredible experience that I just have to share! I went out for dinner with a friend, and we treated ourselves to some delicious cucumber and crab rangoons that were simply divine. The service was outstanding, and I couldn't help but notice how charming the bartender was! The atmosphere was buzzing with energy for a Friday night, making it the perfect setting for a good meal. I decided to spice things up with some spicy shoyzu and topped it off with crispy pork belly--every bite was a flavor explosion! One of the highlights was how they expertly stir-fried the onions and bean sprouts together, giving everything a wonderfully charred flavor that elevated the dish. Plus, they really know how to pack their bowls with generous portions of meat! I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit. It was a night to remember!

The restaurant interior looked lovely and there's 2 counters you can sit at along with standard tables. I got the salmon donburi bowl. It was yummy however I felt that the salmon quality I got was not the best since it was falling apart. The cuts weren't very thick. The price was not bad for the amount of food we got. And the desserts were yummy. Highly recommend the sesame ice cream. Our server was nice, however my party and I were very confused on why we were not able to order green tea. It was explained that they had apparently run out of pitchers to serve guests with. However it was around 8:30PM at night and guests who had green tea were leaving. So it just seems they did not want to wash a pitcher so we could get green tea. My friend and I got the blooming tea. But for $8 it was not worth it.

Haikan 4/10 Recommend. Our overall experience at Haikan was not the best. I guess starting off with the moment we came in, we were greeting with a nonchalant host who didn't seem to really care about welcoming us or seating us. We came in with an infant & stroller so I understand it could feel like a handful but the restaurant wasn't busy so a little more care could've been displayed.Honestly, our server and the ambiance was the best part of the whole experience. Our server was helpful and answered all the questions that we had and the space is very open and nicely laid out.Drink was pretty great too! We got the passion fruit spritz and we loved it. The Crab Rangoons were amazing as well.It goes downhill from there for us. None us really like the flavor of the ramens that we ordered. Seemed very inauthentic in comparison to other ramen specialty places that we've had. With limited protein options it was really hard to create a ramen that could be enjoyed. I got the spicy shoyu with Woodear mushrooms, crispy pork belly, and an egg, still fell under par to what we've had before.I would love to try this place again if I'm in the area, maybe to try something different. It tough because this place has such great reviews. Looking forward to a better experience next time.

Haikan has the best ramen in DC. The vegetarian ramen is phenomenal. Shout out to Louis for fantastic service!

I stumbled upon this ramen place while walking around and decided to give it a try. They were fully booked for indoor tables, so our only options were outdoor seating or the counter. We chose to sit outside, which wasn't bad--though I personally don't love chairs without backs (but that's just me!).Our server was great--super friendly and attentive. I went with the half spicy shoyu ramen, and I really appreciated that they offer this option! It even comes with an appetizer, which was a nice bonus. I tried the crab Rangoon, but the jalapeño jelly wasn't my thing--it felt weird and didn't pair well.Overall, I felt pretty good about the experience for $17. Was it mind-blowing? No. But for the price and the area, it was solid. Good food, good service, and I'd come back for a casual bite.

It was a cold and wet Tuesday evening where my workout class got canceled, so some of my girls and I came to Haikan for a warm cup of ramen. One of my main attractions to Haikan are their small bowls of ramen that were $10 (you can't get small portions anywhere else in the city). I was sooo excited for my ladies to have this experience. I got to Haikan, was ready to order, and didn't see the smaller bowls of ramen on the menu. They have adjusted their pricing model where you can only get a smaller bowl of ramen bundled with one of the select appetizers. That really hurt my heart since I genuinely just came for the smaller bowl of ramen. That really hurt my heartNonetheless the same great flavors were still there and the small portion of ramen is the same. I did take away two starts for the slight price adjustment.

Overall a great place for both food and drinks!! We missed happy hour which ended at 7 sadly.I got the crab ragoons, which has a jalapeño jelly, which I actually enjoyed! Also the spicy ramen which had a bit of a kick to it in the broth and I loved it! Might be one of the best ramen I've had! That ramen is huge just as an FYI. I thought about getting the meal deal they have with an appetizer and small ramen included but was worried about how small it would actually be.One issue I had was the online menu not matching their menu in the restaurant. I planned to get a drink from that online menu was disappointed to hear it was out of date. I ended up getting the prickly pear frozen margarita, which I enjoyed!

Came to Haikan for dinner on a Saturday night and had a great time!Haikan is from the same restaurant group as Tonari and Daikaya, so I already had high expectations that did not disappoint. I had the Shio ramen and added an egg and corn and it was fabulous. A great portion and super flavorful. The egg was the best part-- cooked perfectly and packed with flavor.Had the crab ragoon to start which was a miss for me. There's almost no filling so you're basically just eating the fried wonton. Wouldn't recommend.Service was awesome. Our server was so fast and attentive and checked on us multiple times. We were sitting in the very back corner and could've easily been forgotten but our server was extra attentive and efficient! The drinks were good! I had the yuzu melon drink which was light and well balanced. They have a great deal where you get an app, small ramen, and dessert and I would definitely do that deal next time. The full sized portions were fabulous and I had a second meal to take home. The ambience is casual and lowkey with an open kitchen so it's really fun watching the ramen get made -- So much fire! Felt like a show watching all the cooking. The only downsides to Haikan was I did find the ramen a little heavy on the oils. It could be since I saw the cooking and could see just how much oil they cook with that I would taste it but the broth edges on the greasy side (still good!)If it's packed they also don't really have a good waiting area or system for seating guests. Make sure to keep checking in with the host! They were seating people who arrived well after us before us (we had a reservation and arrived early and were forgotten about).Overall a great experience and I'd definitely come back.

Chanced upon a reservation before a show at the Atlantis. It exceeded expectations ... the selection of drinks was pretty stellar (not much wine but tons of everything else and lots of specialty and Japanese drinks). Our server was amazing (Andria maybe?) and food and drink came quickly and it was so hot and fresh and delicious. Knocking of a star because the ambience isn't really there. It's just blah. It needs some cushions or plants or stones or just something. Would recommend for food - ramen was especially tasty! And there's a vegan option with eggless noodles.

I'm not usually a ramen person BUT I really enjoyed this place. Got the spicy shoyu and it was packed with flavor. I will say it wasn't really spicy so if you really want some spice maybe ask for more. Overall it was very tasty! I appreciate how they offer two sizes as well so you don't have to worry about too much food waste. Service was fast and friendly!
