I was looking for Ethiopian food and my friend who's a DC local said this was one of his favorite spots. I also saw the prices were amazing.Right when I came in, I was greeted with smiles. I asked to use the restroom before I ordered, and they said yes. The menu is really extensive. I wish I had more space for a big platter, but since I was by myself, I just wanted to get a kitfo to bring home. The cashier asked how I liked my meat, such as cooked, medium-raw, or raw. I told her raw. When I said this, she gasped and asked, "Are you sure?" I laughed and said yes.My order was ready in about 10 minutes. This gave me time to chat with another customer who was encouraging me to make my own Ethiopian food at home. Whaen my order was ready, I went to pick up my item from the counter, but I left my purse on the table. The customer I was talking to said she was fine looking over my purse, but I should exercise extra caution in the area. The portion was HUGE! I ate it as soon as I got home. They gave you plenty of injera; I had more than enough. The flavor and texture of the kitfo was not off-putting at all. The meat was soft. I'm not sure what the salt was that they gave to sprinkle onto the meat, but it was DELICIOUS. It also came with two sides, one salad and one lentil side dish. I wish I got a veggie platter too because these sides were SO GOOD. It convinced me that the rest of the veggie items would have been amazing. My biggest regret is not having more stomach space to eat at Habesha. Highly recommended!

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would.Food quality - 5/5Portion - 6/5 :)Service - 5/5Ambiance - 3/5This place is a hidden gem! There are lots of Ethiopian spots in the area, but this is by far my favorite, particularly because of the size! The Habesha Market is definitely a casual carry-out location, but the food comes out within 10 minutes, and the portions are HUGE. My friend and I usually share a combo and have leftovers for 1-2 more meals afterwards. Additionally, the place is very reasonable priced for DC (and compared to other joints). Parking also is surprisingly not bad! I've had great luck with street parking.

Great place for take-out or a quick stop. The food is incredibly solid and the service is quick. They give you a lot of injera which is always a plus. My favorite thing was there alicha wot. Basically tasted like French onion soup in the best way. Every thing has a great balance of spicy and mild, so you can go in between bites. Their shiro is velvety smooth. I could just eat that and be happy.

Tiny but this is a gem. The food was flavorful, delicious and not overly greasy. It is served up with fresh injera. It is a casual, friendly atmosphere that almost had the feel of a family gathering for a meal. The three of us ordered the Taste of Habisha combo with Key Wot (spicy beef stew), Alicha Wot (mild lamb stew), Menchet Abesh (ground beef in spicy sauce), and Tripa (beef tongue and tripe in sauce). They added carrots and cabbage to everyone's meal. I think that was my favorite though we enjoyed it all for dinner, late night snack, and lunch the next day. The food was not overly greasy and had great flavors! They were busy and do a lot of Carryout. They also have a tiny market space where you can get breads and staples. They are definitely worth the drive and parking challenge and are going on my list of places to return to!

If you want good Ethiopian food or products, go to family-owned Habesha. Open every day from 8:30 am to 11 pm since 2005, there's a small market inside and two rooms of seating to enjoy the food. All the Ethiopian food usually dishes are on the menu and there's always a buffet of dishes too. The beef tibs were delicious, especially with the grilled onions, jalapeños, and sauce. The injera is good and more than enough. The back room decorated in a mural wrap has many tables and outlets for charging phones.

I'm a big fan of Ethiopian food, and have been trying a lot of Ethiopian restaurants lately. Habesha Market did not disappoint, and in terms of serving size it was probably my favorite. I got the veggie sampler with 10 sides, and they delivered in a HUGE aluminum pan. I had a good portion of it for lunch, and then saved the leftovers, which ended up lasting me at least three more meals. All the food was delicious, and I think given how much food they actually provided, this is probably my go-to spot for Ethiopian food now.

This is the best Ethiopian place hands-down in DC. Their food is always fresh and it comes out fast. Everything is authentic, and you could even buy some spices and injera for the house. Service is always great. The people are always nice and explanatory. I usually always go for the taste of Aisha or a sampler so I can get a little bit of everything.

I love getting takeout from here! I've never eaten in the store but there are tables you can sit at. You really can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. If you want to try a bunch of items, I'd recommend going with the vegetarian combo or the taste of habesha combos which come with meat dishes. Highly recommend the lamb stew especially if you're not good with spicy food. They do not skimp on portion size!

The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. And service is quick. I especially recommend the Taste of Habesha specials which can each feed 2-3 people and allow you to try many meat and veggie dishes.
