So many delicious dishes! The standout was definitely the labneh -- the pita, the creamy texture, the taste, all ten out of ten. The croquettes were a surprising hit! Amazing flavor and sauce. Also tried the lamb meatballs, halloumi, pork belly and patatas bravas. These were all pretty good as well. The prices are totally fair for the quality and portions. Will absolutely be back!

Went to Gypsy kitchen for a friend's birthday brunch. The menu has a little bit of many di cuisine and the setting is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing and had space for our group of 12. However, service and food we received was exceedingly mid so this seems to be yet another unimpressive DC restaurant with all frills and whistles and nothing underneath. I ordered and eggs Benedict my food was cold by the time it got to my table. The salad was plain greens with like salt and pepper?? I asked them for hot sauce to add flavor and it took over 20 minutes to get some homemade tomato paste thats not even close to what I was looking for. Not super psyched to come back.

My most visit to Gypsy Kitchen was for a friend's birthday brunch and we had a great time! We had a reservation at 11AM and were seated upstairs, which only had one other table filled. It's pretty upstairs and I can definitely see why it's so popular when it's warmer out. Our server, Andre, was great. He was really attentive and personable. We ordered the chef's board for the table and it's a good amount of food for a starter! There's not a lot of variety, but that's not a problem for me. For my main, I ordered the Tunisian hot chicken sandwich and it was near-perfect. The chicken was crispy, but still juicy, the slaw created a good balance, and the bun was soft. I just wish it was spicier, but that's definitely a personal preference. The side salad was a bit sad-looking and barely had any dressing, but I didn't have high expectations for it. Lastly, they brought out a complementary flan for us because we were celebrating a birthday which we weren't expecting. They even lit a candle and everything!

Went on a Saturday night with some friends. Had reservations and were sat promptly. Place has a great energy/vibe upon walking in. Menu is small plates/ tapas style. We order a lot of different things. Standouts were the lamb shank, hummus with lamb, the bread was so good. Service was very attentive and recommendations were on point from Dylan our server. Only knock is with the high energy the place is loud. Definitely will be back.

Lunch with a friend. About less than a 10 min walk from U Street metro. I had the Spanish Benedict* fried eggs, serrano ham, spanish mollete, hollandaise, garden salad $15 - Really good! I didn't eat much of the garden salad (because of my braces) but it had a tasty /sweet sauce on it.My friend LOVEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD the Steak & Eggs* 8oz. new york steak, scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, chermoula $27Andres was the best waiter!

I visited for my mom's bday and would recommend this spot for any locals or tourists. If you're going for drinks, I think 2 tapas ("small plates") per two people is perfect. If you're going for more of a dinner style, I would recommend 1 tapa and sharing two large meals family style. I definitely recommend trying the Hummus Bil Lahme. The Branzino and lamb were also great. Their orange flan is AMAZING and probably the highlight of the night. The true star was our server, Andrew. He was kind, attentive, and patient. I will definitely be returning.

We came here with a large group who had varying allergies and they're were able to accommodate us without a problem. It was very busy and a bit loud, but that was to be expected. The seating was plush and the atmosphere felt warm and cozy. We got a variety of plates to share and even ordered more of the dishes we loved. The mocktails were also fantastic and hit among the group.

This place has sentimental value to me. I have frequented the place a few times over the years with prior experiences being stellar. However, the recent experience was underwhelming. The braised lamb shank had no depth of flavor. The meat on the outside was tougher than what one would expect from a braised meat. The chips and the aioli were very ordinary. The octopus was under charred and lacked the flavor of the ocean, the salinity and the umami you would expect from an octopus from Spain. It was akin to eating rubber. The croquettas lacked depth of flavor. They were crunchy on the exterior for a second, but turned into a splattered mushy mess when you tried to cut into them. I'd be more generous if it were not for the exorbitant prices for this caliber of food. The food clearly only has visual appeal but lacks gastronomical merit. Additionally, I had reserved a table, but had to wait for a table to open up when I got there. The restaurant was crowded and tables were placed close to each other. This setup made it hard to talk to one another without raising one's voice, compromising privacy.

Excellent food, amazing service.Im out in DC looking for a nice place to eat and drink as a solo diner (eg bar seating). Checked out some reviews and found Gypsy Kitchen. And I'm very glad I did!Food: excellentService: second to noneTo start I ordered the beet salad and the labneh. Now, if you've read my reviews, you know I'm dead serious about my beet salad. This was a decent variation, but I've had better. But again, it's a bit unfair, I've had way too many beet salads to compare against. I'd give it a B. Quality ingredients. Just not my favorite composition. It was made with yogurt and micro greens.Everything else was an A+.Next I got the labneh. It was amazing. I didn't even know what labneh was but it had a bunch of yummy ingredients (pomegranate, citrus, pistachio). But what really stole the show was the bread that was served with it. O m effing g. Dip it in the labneh and enjoy. Fantastic! For dinner I had the lacquered chicken. Again, read my reviews, I'm hella picky with chicken. This was almost perfect. Flavor was fantastic. Only complaint is the skin could be crispier. Drinks were good they had a reasonable selection of brandy. Now let's talk about "above and beyond".When I ordered my drink I told the bartender I wanted to try both varieties of brandy. I ended up engaging in conversation with another patron. As I was eating bartender sensed that I was sucking ice, and lowkey filled my glass with the other brandy as I continued talking to the lady. It was impeccable timing and low key wingman behavior. Super considerate and thoughtful. I asked his name and focused on memorizing it but after a few more drinksI'm struggling. Lari or Lati or Rali. Something like that. You were awesome thank you!I had a great tile at Gypsy kit he. And highly recommend!
