Prior to eating a meal from here, I didn't understand why people in DC always seemed to rave about Ethiopian food. However, after eating the veggie sampler ( through toogoodtogo), I finally understood. It was a very scrumptious meal, filling, and fresh. On a separate occasion, I had the beef firfir. It wasn't my fave just because I do not like tough cuts of beef. However, I enjoyed the overall taste of the meal and was keen to try other items on the menu. Definitely a good restaurant to visit! I cannot speak much on the ambiance since both visits were takeout.

Excellent! A very small establishment but very clean and efficient. The food was very very good and the atmosphere cozy. We had an Ethiopian breakfast with coffee served in the traditional manner. I recommend highly.

This is a brand new Ethiopian cafe opened just a few months ago in the sixteenth street heights neighborhood by Georgia avenue. Just 3 blocks from Fitzgerald Tennis, it's a perfect place to stop by for a morning coffee or after your hike at Rockcreek park. The restaurant is really clean and cozy, well decorated with all the Ethiopian arts and crafts. The seating area is small but that's pretty much okay for a cafe. I got a chicken salad sandwich and a 2 layer smoothie. This is one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I ever had. No kidding. The salad was super creamy, the layer of lettuce and finely chopped onions added a nice crunch. The owner, Gueny, who the place is named after is such a sweet lady. She even gave me a few mini panettones to go. I haven't a chance yet but I will definitely try their traditional breakfasts next time I'm in the area. Every 6th drink is free. Ask for their punch card.

I am giving a five stars for the service. The food is just okay so don't use this review for the food. The coffee is pretty good actually.

Enjoy a delicious lunch. The awash panini is really unique and delicious, the presentation and comes with salad, which combines perfectly. The ambiance and details of the place invite you to be there.

Stopped in for the first time today and genuinely enjoyed our visit. My husband and I came with our 1-year old for breakfast and coffee. We got the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant. I got mine with tomato and "basil" which turned out to be basil pesto and was super delicious. The cappuccino and latte were great as well. Portion sizes were generous. There is a small ramp in front which made it easy to access the café with a stroller, and a changing table for babies in the bathroom. The owner was so sweet with our little one. We are looking forward to returning to try more of the menu items!

Tiny spot with 3-4 tables and some counter seating. Coffee is excellent, and is STRONG. Ethiopian Breakfast is delicious and enough food for two people. Breakfast sandwiches are very good as well.Since it's just the owner and one other person working usually, the service can be a bit slow, so don't expect the Starbucks speed here, but we'll worth it for the high quality coffee and food.
