A spacious hotpot place at Annandale. Came here for lunch - $35 all you can eat, they also have $17 lunch options. Food - awesome, the all you can eat menu has a variety of selections, they bring out small dishes and you can refill as much as needed, each person gets his own pot. You can request the restaurant's special sauce or go to the sauce bar to mix it yourself.Service - fast, they have an on call button so you can ask for service easily Ambience - modern setting with kpop music blasting in the background, the restaurant is clean, restroom has changing table for young kids. Price has definitely gone up since 4 years ago. The good old days of $25 all you can eat is gone. Next time if I go back I will get the $17 option to see what they offer. Will recommend to people who love hotpot!

Gom Shabu serves shabu/hot pot where you can order AYCE or a la carte. Even though we don't eat a lot, found it was more cost effective to order AYCE. This is a popular place so service was a bit lacking. Due to lack of servers, don't expect them to come around and clear empty plates. Though there is a bell at each table that calls servers when you need. It was weird that the menu show different broths you can order but when we sat, broth was already there. Perhaps too few servers? In any case, food was adequate. Beef portions were plentiful, seafood okay. IMHO, key to good hot pot is making a good sauce for dipping. They have an adequate bar where you can make your own sauce. Suggest you experiment and combine sauces together (i.e., hot sauce with peanut sauce). You can also order eggs for dipping Tip: don't wear your finest to hot pot as your clothes will smell afterwards. Overall, okay place for hot pot but minus points for lack of servers.

I came here with a big group this past Saturday evening. The service is fast and attentive. We got all our ingredients, toppings and meats within 5-10 minutes of ordering. There are not a lot of options here compared to Chinese hot pot places (like lotus root, quail eggs, fish tofu, etc.), but this isn't Chinese hot pot! Also, you can order a signature sauce with your hot pot, which I enjoyed. I got the less-spicy option for a slight kick.DINNER AYCE - 34.99You can get your personal hot pot here, so I went with the tonkotsu broth. Each hot pot already has some sort of broth -- anchovy based? After ordering, the server will bring a small sauce plate size of the broth concentrate you ordered which you then pour into your broth. Unfortunately, I did not like the broth because I did not enjoy this particular flavor of fish and creamy pork mixed together. Also, it was pretty salty, so don't dump the whole thing in initially (and try it throughout)? They split our group up by tables of 4, so our group got a good amount of food. I'll list my recommendations:+ Angus beef, fatty brisket, prime ribeye+ Bokchoy, watercress (!!), taro, king oyster, enoki mushroom+ Beef tripe, bean thread, wide noodle (?)+ White fish balls, scallopsFrom what I remembered, the napa cabbage was bitter. Maybe it was just an off day? Overall, it was just OK. I've had better AYCE hot pot in the area for similar price range.

Four of us went to Gom Shabu for lunch. The ambiance is modern and clean. There is plenty of seating and it wasn't busy on Wednesday afternoon. We ordered their lunch special and each of us ordered a different meat/seafood. So we had chicken, seafood, beef brisket and pork. Each order came with a choice of noodles and a big portion of vegetables. We got our individual pot with our chosen broth. There is a sauce bar where we can make our dipping sauce. They provided good quality meat and fresh vegetables. Our waitress was attentive. The beef brisket was my favorite. We all enjoyed the hot pot.

Atmosphere: Gom Shabu has a clean, modern interior. There are plenty of tables and a sauce bar in the back to customize your own dipping sauces. The restaurant was packed when we went on a Friday night. Service: We waited around 45 minutes for a table, but it was definitely worth the wait. They texted us when our table was ready. The service during our meal was good! Food: Wow were we impressed with Gom Shabu once we sat down! The personalized hot pots give you complete control of how you want your meal to be. We ordered both the house veggie and house spicy broths. We ended up receiving another house veggie instead of one of our house spicy broths, but they brought out a side of the spicy sauce which we actually preferred because we could adjust the spiciness to our taste. The sauce station had good variety, and the selection for meats, veggies, and seafood had everything we wanted. The quality of the meats, especially the prime ribeye, was amazing! Overall: Gom Shabu is probably one of the best shabu shabu restaurants we've tried in terms of quality, and on top of that, it's all you can eat! We came in hungry and with pretty high expectations because of its popularity, and they impressed us. This is a must try spot if you are in the DC-Virginia area!

This is my preferred choice for hot pot in Northern Virginia. With its ample seating for large groups and an extensive selection of meats, veggies, broths, and sauce toppings, it offers a great variety. The flavors are impressive, particularly considering the all-you-can-eat option. The mala broth is my go to for its intense spiciness, which delivers a perfect blend of flavor and heat. The ambiance is a balance between casual and pristine, creating a comfortable dining experience. The nice staff ensures prompt and friendly service.

The place was very clean and spacious. I like how there is a base broth and you can put different flavors in it. The sauces and meats were good, but very limited. I was disappointment that there weren't more meat or veggie options to add to my hot pot, compared to KPot with many more items.

Whenever my friend and I are craving hot pot, this is our go-to place. We used to go to the one in Centreville but now that Gom Shabu is in Annandale, we prefer this location. It's located in the same shopping center as The Block and K Market grocery store. The staff here are very nice and attentive. If you need anything, you just push the call button and they'll come to your table. The restaurant is pretty spacious and has lots of seating. The tables have individual hot pots so you don't have to share one pot with your party. The ordering is pretty easy, they hand you a slip and you mark off what you want such as broth, dipping sauce, meats, seafood, vegetables, dumplings, and noodles. I usually get the mala soup base and it is really good if you like the numbing Sichuan spice flavor. You can also pick your own dipping sauce which is based on different spice levels. I like the medium spicy which isn't too spicy but has enough kick when dipping the meat/vegetables. There is a utensil station and sauce bar in the back so if you want more toppings for your hot pot you can get more. Overall, I've always enjoyed my experience here and I've never been disappointed with the food. It always hits the spot when I crave hot pot.
