Golden Star Chinese Restaurant

The food was IMMACULATE. I stopped eating Chinese food for a while after experiencing back to back disappointments at other establishments. I saw this restaurant on Uber Eats and decided to give it a try. Beef and broccoli lunch, sesame chicken, and two spring rolls. The food was piping hot by the time i received it, i live maybe 8 or so minutes away. The food was so good that it made me slow down and savor every bite. Beef & Broccoli combo: a great portion of food, worth the money. the right amount of savory sauce with the every bite. Beef texture, just a little bit fatty but i think that's usually how it tends to be no matter whose I've tried. No gristle, just different than say, a steak texture. Vegetables were Fresh and not overcooked/undercooked. I asked them to swap out the fried rice with white, which they did! And vegetable roll instead of shrimp roll. So good. Sesame Chicken with white rice: Not too sweet, just right! Hot, and asked for extra broccoli! Fresh rice. Everything was so tasty.Easily the best I've ever had.

There food is EXCELLENT & cheap but their customer service is ass. Im big on customer service.

This place is awful, I ordered for delivery and it took almost 2 hours then when I returned the food because it was awful probably sat for hour forty five, now they refuse to take my order for take out.Never ever again

I've enjoyed dining in 2 times and 1 time got take-out. The dining experience was good, friendly staff, reasonable prices and tasty cheese wontons.I could not give this location 5 stars due to the outdated decor. When you first walk up to the restaurant you almost have high expectations for the interior decor but you will be underwhelmed for sure...it is clean but a bit drab.The food is good so l have, and will continue to order take-out.

Best hot and sour soup I have ever had. I agree with other reviewers who say the decor is dated. I don't come here for the decor, though. I usually order the Crispy Thai Hing Chicken. Sweet, spicy, crunchy...awesome. They have the best egg rolls and spring rolls. Oh, and the crab rangoon, flaky and delish, not hard and tough like some places. My food experience has been consistently better than other chinese restaurants, leaving this my very favorite chinese restaurant in Charles County.Edited because I forgot to mention the staff. (Give me a break, my dinner was getting cold while I typed!) They are always kind and welcoming, frequently asking how everything is or if I need anything without being invasive. Perfect combination of courtesy and timely service. Bonus: My beverage is always refilled before it becomes empty.

So I did not have high expectations for this place. And after eating a meal....my expectations were right. I have to agree with one reviewer...the shrimp in my shrimp fried rice was mushy. There was no bite or snap. Just mush. I also tried the Crispy Thai Hing chicken. Well it wasn't crispy but I did get this meal to go and the steam in the bag probably caused most of the damage. However the chicken coating tasted mealy. I recognize that this a little restaurant in a little town but that type of quality was just disrespectful.

I love their food. It feels homemade and always delicious. I always get something different and never disappointed. They give a lot of food too. My boxes are always packed. They have cute koi fishes in their restaurant too.

Don't eat here! We ordered the lunch special takeout. They got the order wrong and only one meal was the luch special. My husband wasn't paying attention, so he didn't notice the extra cost. I got the twice cooked pork. It was the full sized dish. It was just thin ribbons of pork with a ton of cabbage. I have had that at other restaurants and it was never made that way. That wasn't the worst part. It tasted gross! It was inedible. My husband and I both agreed that the pork tasted like it was spoiled. The sauce had no flavor either. My husband got Hunan beef and it was meh. The sauce was odd. The egg rolls were small and barely had any filling. The only good thing is that we were able to return the twice cooked pork and we got a refund. This place is not worth trying.

I've been eating at this restaurant for well over 10 years, but unfortunately, the quality of their food has been going downhill. I've seen their portion sizes get smaller and their prices get higher, which is understandable. However, the food that I received yesterday was inexcusable.I ordered my regular meal which is a beef and broccoli combination platter. It comes with fried rice, wonton soup, and an eggroll. The side items were cooked perfectly. My only issue was with the beef and broccoli. Every piece of beef in my meal was raw. I cut a few pieces open, and the meat was completely pink in the inside and not even warm. When I contacted the store, the person that I spoke with said that he "was not sure what to do" in this situation. However, I came back to the restaurant and exchanged the food for a refund with no problems. The service at Golden Star is okay, but I would not recommend eating at this establishment until they hire a better chef.

Simple, cheap, Chinese food. I enjoy it occasionally and it's better than most fast food places.
