Golden Skillet Fried Chicken

The best fried chicken. Seasoned just right and customer service is A1. I highly recommend. The building doesn't look like much but I guarantee you will love that chicken.

I have been a long term customer of The Golden Skillet for over 20 years. I always go to get the chicken liver box. I bought one today 12/26/24. Decided to taste it on the way home. What a disappointment. I called told the person that the livers were hard and bitter. (They can't have the bile packet left on.) I went back, told her I wanted another box, cooked soft. Checked the top but should have looked all the way through. Those on the bottom could have come from my old order. Not a good experience at all. Used Drive in initially then went inside to return/replace my order. There was a bucket of dirty water just before the counter.

Golden Skillet has been a hole in the wall staple in PG County for over 20 years. The chicken used to taste very diffrent that the big name fast food chicken. Unmatched! Unfortunately its diffrent now. I shouldve known when i went to the drive thru and didnt see the guy with all the rings. I spent $25 for flavorless chicken. The chicken tastes like a change in ownership. Very dissapointed!

I only get a fish sandwich and French fries... both was hot and fresh but really didn't taste the same as I remember from back in the day.

I've seen this place so many times, but it was dated and appeared to be a place I didn't feel compelled to stop and go in and visit.Well @mrchimetime was doing a DMV food tour and said the place was legit and had the best mumbo sauce. It was only right that I finally stop in and find out for myself! I pulled up and don't ya know ....this place has a drive thru!! Hallelujah! I had to get the chicken sandwich and wings. I'll be more adventurous and try the gizzards another time. The chicken sandwich was good with the mumbo sauce, enough crisp and soft sesame seed bun; no tomato, only lettuce and pickles. Fries on the side were thick cut fries, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The party size wings are great; no complaints. I forgot that I got the old bay wings, they just had a tasty heavy dusting of something on them. I'll have to try the full size wings another time. I had two sides that were very small-- the plastic containers fit in the side portions of the to go plate. Collards are ok as a green (better than any other drive-thru!), the mac n cheese you can pass on. Now, people debate mumbo sauce all the time. There are so many variations, mumbo sauces are NOT created equal. I forgot what's real. I simply stick beside Capital City mumbo. Trying the sauce from here, I'm familiar and it's the real thing! They've stayed true all of these years. Great customer service to boot! If you're like me and have passed it for too many years, go ahead and stop in or slide thru the drive thru!

I stopped by via drive thru one early Saturday afternoon because i seen a review of this place and i wanted to try , so i ordered a 2 piece white (breast and wing) with collard greens and mambo sauce , the chicken was good and not dry but it was very greasy , the greens were good also it also came with a dinner roll.

Hey everyone, no I did not recommend this establishment even though the lobby and sitting area was clean and the cashier was friendly. The service was good chicken gizzards that I ordered taste horrible like they was cooked and old oil and freezer burnt and totally disgusting so now I don't recommend this establishment at all. I have a terrible experience.

I was leaving the area and looked up and saw this place. I had just saw someone do a review of how great it was. I ordered the 2pc dark with greens and a side of whiting. The 2pc was $5.99 and the fish was $3.59. For those prices alone they get 5 stars!!! Lol But as far as quality and taste that's a different story. The chicken wasn't bad, again for 5.99, not bad and it was seasoned. The greens were meh, glory greens taste better than those. The fish was SOAKED in grease. Maybe it was worst because it was wrapped in foil. But when I opened it, it just didn't look appetizing so I did NOT try it. You can't beat 5.99 for a 2pc and a side.

Went there Saturday evening ordered fried livers, Chicken Sandwich and some wings... when I seen the Cook and she seen me and not smiling I knew I was doomed.... lol.....Everything taste not fresh and old... this not the Same Golden Skillet like back in the days.... Want be going back...

If I could give this place zero stars I would! Ate here in the past was very good. Tonight we ate there got a 5 piece dark meal with greens and potato wedges. It was absolutely horrible! First of all the chicken was so greasy hard and tasted old. The greens came from a can and were tasteless and don't get me started on the potato wedges that were as small and over cooked. To top it off they showed no love with the portion of the sides. This meal was a waste of money. If you want to have heart burn and indigestion like I did all night eat here. There are better chicken joints in the area to choose. Run or proceed with caution from this place.
