I kinda chocked back when I paid for my order of Chai tea and croissant, since the price was high! (((Keep in mind this was during the first and second week of their Opening last year)) I loved the indoor fireplace. I was freezing and sat right by the fire to have my 1st visit breakfast until I was warmed enough to head back outside.I often get their email newsletters. They have great events that are held in the amazingly huge rear bar and dine-in section. I want to attend some of the events in the near future...They also now have take-out and delivery services; I live about 2-3 miles down the street. Godfrey's Bakery and Cafe must be really good; they always have full seats capacity of customers every time I pass by?? This is a great place to meet and greet or have small meetings. I think they extended the Cafe space to the entire first, second , and rear (live music) bar sections. But, In comparison to Caboose Commons in Merrifield, VA, I would chose Godfrey's over. They have amazing full and friendly guest relations staff which enhances dining experience

Great ambience, pastries are beautiful. But I came for the scones and cream. The cream tasted like whipped cream, and the scones fell apart into crumbles when you lifted them. Definitely not a true scone and cream experience. What a mess!

They added full service dining upstairs. Got shooed away because I had orders coffee downstairs already. Can't I just order food here? Nope. Too loud downstairs to even think. They started skimping on their best pastry, the Paris Brest. It has half the amount it used to. Goodbye, Godfrey's.

Refer to my previous review. This spot remains my number one study spot!! Only one thing. I never quite know what to do. Do I clear my table or do the hostesses. Food is always perfect. Please bottle and sell your salad dressing. The ambiance is perfect. Feels like home. Today I spoke with Monica the manager, she's great!! She answered all my questions. I told her I didn't know what proper protocol was. Do I clear my table or do the hostesses? Also when there is no where to sit downstairs, it's unclear how to obtain a seat upstairs. I'm also interested in reserving a room for a lunch and learn, so I'll have to inquire more about that. Thumbs up!!

Ambiance: Very classy with earthy tones. Lighting was perfect to get some great photos. Service was great, very efficient bunch of folks.Enjoyed the cinnamon bun sampler.Food: We stopped by on a Friday evening for some coffee and blueberry croissant. Coffee was perfectly brewed(was not hot enough though)and the croissant was crisp and made to perfection. Will definitely stop by soon to try out their cakes.Parking: This is a very busy street, but there is ample parking on the side and back of the cafe.

Godfrey's! What! I have to say, the desserts at this place are so unbelievably good. The vanilla bombe was unbelievably delicious and there was a caramel with a dacois sponge and the mousse was so tasty... I could go on. The raspberry and pistachio ronde was even good too and so decadent! We went here after dinner for a late night dessert and I will say that I want to come for a lunch or even drinks before dinner. The atmosphere is super cozy and there is a fire place that really gives a nice ambiance to the cafe. And I feel like it would be a really great place to do homework or work at! I definitely will be coming back!

Loved everything about this place! First of all, there's ample parking, not like some of the other restaurants in this area. They recently reserved the upstairs for full service so I'll be back for that. Their bread is made fresh and gee golly, their almond croissant was probably one of the best I've ever had. You can watch them bake it in the side window. It was packed on a Saturday morning, but everyone still managed to find seating. I felt like I was in New York City except the bathrooms are much nicer here ha!

Falls Church has a hipster coffeehouse with decent morning pastries, (Rarebird), a kid friendly chain bakery (Panera), a locally owned stop and go bakery with a heavy bent towards desserts (Bakeshop), and even a Vietnamese bakery (Lee's Sandwiches), but Godfrey's marks the advent of a true neighborhood artisanal bakery with fresh bread, morning pastries, and showstopping desserts. Not necessarily fully committed to being a French bakery, but there are croissants that could be a tad more flakey, quiches that are less cloying, and a thick flatbread pizza that might be too bready. It opened to much fanfare due to the void of something in its class and the two story space is indeed beautiful with lots of natural light and Restoration Hardware catalog influence. They feature La Colombe coffee, beautifully crafted desserts which one can see being made through a corridor leading to the rear patio, and a variety of both healthy and decadent food options covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Price-point is a bit high compared to quality and service is a bit on the slow side despite the number of staff frantically moving about, but I do hope they maintain moving forward since some heavy hitters (Tatte Bakery and Paris Baguette) will be arriving soon so they will need to bring their A game to stay competitive.

Let's talk about the $35 wifi after your one free hour. I do understand that people using the free wifi is annoying and just loitering with one cup of coffee but it physically hurt my chest to pay for another hour. Don't work here, it's not worth it. Come for a vibe and a good convo with a friend.ANYWAYS, I've been here a handful of times. It's a great place, dessert is fantastic, coffees are never a miss, their parfait was some of the best I've had, and the quiche was delicious. Love the ambiance, the open fire ties together a cozy atmosphere. No complaints, always a great time here.
