I see why reservations are needed and the line was long! I heard about this place on TV and never thought I'd make it. On a visit to DC, our friends had made us reservations. We had a late afternoon reservation and that was perfrct timing as the crowd showed up shortly after. The atmosphere was nice with some old school RnB playing in the vackground. It was a bit loud which made us speak a bit louder than preferred. The drinks were great! She had the peach martini and I had the old fashioned after i had my usual. For appetizers we shared the fried green tomatoes. They were good. Others at the table also had them and enjoyed them. Our entrees were excellent! I had the lambchops at med well temp with greens and mashed yams. Wow! She had the jerk catfish with greens and mac n cheese! We both enjoyed our meals. Nene was our hostess. She checked in often but wasn't annoying. She got all of our orders correctly and made suggestions where needed. This place is a bucket list item checked off and I'd definitely come back if given the chance.

This was my first time going for Sunday brunch. The live music was a nice addition. We had 11 people in our party for a birthday. The waiter did the best he could given how many tables he had, well that was the perception. The "three course meal" is a nice departure from other brunch spots. I ordered the fried green tomatoes, and chicken and waffles. Both were really good.My only issue is the bottomless beverages (Mimosa or Bellini). If all 11 people chose the bottomless the most efficient process is to place at least one carafe at the table. Not only does this save the waiter the hassle of trying to refill everyone's glass but it also ensures that patrons get their money's worth. Additionally, forcing folks to get the same flavor should not be the standard but I obliged so that I wouldn't have to wait longer for him to come back around. Regardless, I would go back but probably not with a large group.

Georgia Brown's is a true soulfood gem! I stopped by with some of my colleagues and we had a grand ole time! For my drink, I ordered a thirst quenching Southern style sweet iced tea. It truly soothed my soul and tasted like pure bliss. For my appetizers I ordered calamari and also fried chicken livers. Unfortunately, the calamari did not make the photoshoot! It was simply too delicious! The fried chicken livers were like dynamite with each bite! So flavorful, especially dipping into the honey mustard! The seafood penne was filled with scallops, shrimp, and crab meat! Wow! A medley of scrumptious goodness! Hints of lemon juice? olive oil, and other goodness. After a while I realized all of the food had simply disappeared. The ambiance is classy and relaxing with dim lighting. Our waiter was on point and tended to our every need. Cheers to good eats!

Nice ambiance. Good service. Not worth it food. We went on a Wednesday evening because of the jazz music. Reservations recommended.$32 for a gin and tonic. $20 for the Steel Magnolia cocktail. Crazy prices for below average cocktails.Deviled eggs were bland and boring. The devils on horseback were yummy. Our dining mates likes their fried chicken and gumbo. Both of which were $30-some dollar entrees. The $65 jumbo lump crab cake and $41 devil shrimp were completely not worth it. The best thing was the aoili sauce that came with the crab cake. Neither dish has much flavor. And both were rather dry. The mac and cheese was meh. The fries were ok. The other sides went basically untouched. Very disappointed in those massively overpriced entrees. In sum, not at all worth the cost. If the prices better matched the food quality, it would've been ok. Thankfully, the service and ambiance helped. So it evens out to 3 stars.

I was recommended GB by a family member who loved their happy hour specials. I visited during restaurant week, so I tried to give as much slack as I could to the employees. It was PACKED with people and good conversationsThe good: FOOD. The food here saved this review ten-fold. I had the seafood penne and it was delicious. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The bad: Slow service. We had a reservation for 7:45 and didn't sit until 8:20. Once seated, everything took forever. The pacing was awful so there were lots of moments of us just sitting around. And I'm not sure why because I never saw a hectic employee running around. I just believe everything was slow, which again, might've just been because of restaurant week.I'd love to come back another time and see if the wait times are better. Because the food was really good, and I'm from Southern Louisiana!

Visiting dc for a quick weekend trip. Wanted to experience something different and not typical in DC so saw some good reviews for GB and made reservations for a Friday night at 8:30. The start was very slow. We were promptly seated on time but waited several minutes before our waitress came to greet us. Approx. 8 minutes. For more clarity we were seated at 835 and didn't get our drinks u til 9:06. We had to repeat our order twice to the waitress. Once for our entrees and another for the dessert we had already ordered. The food did not disappoint. Even with the slow inattentive service I have no complaints about the food. We had the fritto mixto fresh light battered seafood and veggies. Green fried tomatoes were firm and tasty. Fried chicken plate 3.5/5, chicken was seasoned well and fried good. Mashed potatoes could use help. Gravy was a nice addition. Devil shrimp was good. You get 3 large stuffed shrimp. It's basically mini crab cakes on top of shrimp 4/5. The drinks were strong which we never mind especially having to wait more that 30 mins for them. The banana pudding was spot except the bananas were browning beyond my liking. They are def overpriced but solid meal I would def come back but hoping for a different service experience.

Georgia Browns is the restaurant I bring friends and love one to from out of town. A staple in the DC community known for their twist on southern cuisine. The ambiance includes dim, yet warm lighting. It's perfects for groups, special occasions and date night. Each time I've visited the service is top tier. It is a bit competitive for reservations especially on the weekends. There's valet parking though you may luck up on parking nearby. Uber or carpool is recommended. The bar area has high top seating and can be quite crowded in the evenings. Often occupied after happy hour patrons and guests waiting on their tables. Overall, I recommend eating here at least once with a reservation of course.

Came by here with my team for dinner before the jazz club. Excellent choice. Georgia Brown's has been around a while and consistently serving up great southern comfort food. We were greeted immediately and seated at a high table near the bar. The dim light, lively music and awesome aroma in the air made for an inviting ambience. We ordered a slew of appetizers, my favorite were the catfish strips, crunchy outside and flaky inside. For my entree...The Devil Shrimp, crab stuffed shrimp with a side of spinach and macaroni cheese. Very flavorful and filling. I paired with a margaritas. We had a great time enjoying good food.

This was a must stop in our food tour. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Went with the whole red snapper, gumbo, fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, collard greens, and more. The service was great and the ambiance was perfect. The only complaint is the 22% service charge they automatically put on your bill. A 22% tip means you got TOP NOTCH service. Service was good, but we should be able to tip by the level of service. Would definitely return for another visit.
