Genki Izakaya

I dream of this house salad! It has sashimi and a ponzu vinaigrette that keeps me coming back. I only recommend if you enjoy a citrus vinaigrette. The key to this restaurant is the fish! I would skip the ramen, fries and overpriced stuff and stick with the skewers and fish. Genki Roll - one of the best rolls I've had. The smokiness and truffle reminds me of the winner from Yume Sushi. Volcano Roll and Lava RollSashimi - great quality but wish they included more varietyToro Bowl - I'm glad they have this one the menu but needs a crunch component. If they added fried onion might add some nice crunch Grilled Saba - small size but tastes deliciousIf you absolutely have to get something other than fish enjoy the Skewers - i love the momo, gyuharami and anagoTornado Omelette Fried Rice - delicious but mentions chicken in the description and doesn't include much. This isn't my first time at Genki Izakaya, and it probably won't be my last. The variety of Japanese dishes/cocktails you can get here is amazing, in addition the quality and consistency of the food really makes you wanna come back and try more things! The Torched Sea Fatty Salmon is a must-get for sushi lovers, the Tornado Omelet Fried Rice (Omurice Style) is some of the best I've had in the DMV, and you can't go wrong with the savory Yakitori Skewers.

Just take all my money! I'm so glad we decided to eat at Genki today. The food is amazing! The Tonkatsu and Spicy Miso ramen were very flavorful. The Spicy Miso here is definitely in my top 2-3 to date. The ramen bowls had a very generous amount of noodles. The Cheesy Shrimp roll was a perfect sushi roll pairing to our ramen and was very good. We also had the chicken thigh skewers and pork belly skewers. They were both good, but I would opt for one of the other hot apps next time. Our server was attentive and we weren't left waiting for refills or an opportunity to place additional orders. The decor and layout were good. There is also a bar inside with seating. The music is at the right volume that you can enjoy the songs without feeling the need to speak loudly during your meal. It's located in a strip of restaurants and shops that is attached to a parking garage. Bottom line, I can't wait to come back.

I had pretty high expectations for Genki since a couple of my friends recommended this restaurant for a nice family dinner. However, I was quite disappointed with the quality of food. Every menu item is overpriced compared to the actual food which tastes bland and flavorless. Service also need improving, he only came to get our orders and drop the check.The ramen was the worse ramen I've ever had, the broth tastes like water and the pork had a weird smell. The waygu beef fried rice was just so oily making it difficult to enjoy, it barely had any meat considering it's a $35 dish.

Everything was good but not great. The food and prices weren't amazing enough to want me to go back again. The mentaiko udon was extremely creamy and portion size was small. Skewers and curry were mediocre. Fries were good. The fatty salmon was really good.

I came back here again with my family and Genki was still just as amazing as the other times! Highly recommend the grilled squid. My parents loved it so much we ordered a 2nd one! We ordered 3 rolls: Lava roll, Genki roll, and Super Wagyu roll. All of them were delicious! I like that Genki doesn't douse their rolls in eel and mayo sauce. The tonkatsu ramen had a rich broth yet wasn't too heavy. It came with tonkatsu pork slices and soft boiled egg. I usually don't like ramen, but I would order this again! Yakitori platter was great as a starter. All of the meats were well marinated super and tender. Of course, the hand rolls were amazing as always. I've never eaten here and NOT order at least 1 hand roll. The whole family each ordered a hand roll and everyone also loved them! Our server Warren was fantastic! He explained the menu in detail for my family and was very attentive throughout the night (even though it was very busy).

Food was great! I enjoyed the Ube fries the most with the mustard dip combo. I am pregnant so I opted for all the cooked sushi options. All rolls were very tasty! I can't wait to come back to try more of the raw sushi dishes. My husband enjoyed his matcha drink and describes it as very earthy and strong.The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Love the aesthetic of this restaurant.

Very nice modern environment. I love the food, really good and impressive fish and grill. The price is a bit high. Service is good.

Amazing food, perfect for a special occasion! The drinks were delicious and refreshing!
