Why yelp - why are you giving this guy 2 stars? The owner/proprietor of the place is simply awesome and goes out of his way to help you out. You are obviously not getting an 'artisinal' experience here, but its open late, carries a good assortment of the basics (booze, beer, wine) and some reasonable craft assortment.Look, you're here because you failed to adequately prepare for your friends dinner party in the neighborhood - and in a last ditch effort to not look like a douche for showing up empty handed, here you are. So in this case - perfect.Maybe your bros are looking to pregame before hitting U-Street but its 10:00PM and Streets Market, Yes, and D'vines are all closed. Well, guess whose savings your ass with a rail of Coors?I found the prices average, the staff/owner extremely friendly, and just a simple/nice experience.

Yeah, it's a little pricey and has some "interesting" clientele, but what were you expecting from an open-late liquor store? The owner is fantastic and friendly and they're open till 11. What else could you ask of this place?

To me, bulletproof glass means cheap alcohol inside. I practically bounded in when I moved to the neighborhood, hoping for a place to buy...not great beers, I guess, but "do the trick" beers for not a lot.And then I paid $12 for a six pack of Fat Tire. The other beers weren't cheap, either, AND they didn't have end-of-the-paycheck favorites (like Natty Boh). Skip.

the selection is slim, the teller is behind bulletproof glass, and there's always someone standing out front panhandling until they have enugh to wander in and buy another lottery ticket.but it's still a liquor store and they even had sake once when i asked. no good craft beers, either, but they usually have at least some sam adams or something other than just bud and corona.

I went in looking for a bottle of champagne for my mother's birthday brunch and the owner was extremely short and dismissive of my questions about champagne and even suggested I buy her something less expensive. I walked out of the store!

I have lived in the U St Corridor for 5 years and this is the best liquor store in the area hands down. Fish has gone out of his way to make conversation and get to know me as a customer and make my experience great whenever I shop there. Give this man your business!!!!
