No frills, great deal, all cash.Fillets for everyone, but whole fish for the real ones - fish in the(neighbor) hood looks, smells, and tastes like a staple in the community. You already know the fish is juicy, but the catfish has a tenderness you expect and the red snapper had the thick juiciness that makes you shake your head after your first bite.Collard greens are generous and surprisingly juicy, hush puppies are like if a funnel cake already had sugar in the dough.I like the yellow thin sauce and the tartar sauce, not a fan of the last one

Aite I took y'all's suggestions, & I got some fish to put Capital City Mambo sauce on!! This time I got their 12 ounce Sweet Heat flavor!! You can still get their 32 ounce off of @instacart & @costco or both!! .Where I am: with @capitalcityco.Location Reviewed: Fish in the Neighborhood *No Social Mefia presence, or website* with @capitalcityco.Items Review:Their Crinkle Cut Fries (with salt pepper, & Sweet Heat Capital City Mambo sauce $4). Reminds me of those back in the day fish plates off H street, with a spicy Mambo twist!!Their Half n Half ($4). STAMP!! Get it!! That's it.Next up!! I'm going home!! Generally the food is excellent when you can catch them open. Everything is slamming except the crab cake!

Before it was "Fish in the neighborhood," it was "Fish in the 'hood." Before that, it was "Bill's seafood kitchen." Yup, that's how long I've been coming here. So needless to say, review well overdue. The neighborhood has definitely changed over the years. But this place stays the same great and crispy way. Spending all my summers in Maryland meant I spent every summer in Maryland, DC, Baltimore, and Virginia, too. A family full of foodies with a van full of hungry kids means we always ate really good, and I ain't talking about McDonald's or Hardee's either. Places like this, Fish in the 'hood was introduced to me by my brothers/cousins in Howard years ago. We always run through the entire DC and MD areas when I come through. Fried Catfish, Shrimp, Scallops, Mango sauce, Hush puppies, and Broiled snapper is what we came for. Truth is, I really missed this place and wanted the nostalgia of it. My crew could not stop talking about how crispy and well seasoned everything we got was. After a few drinks, we started to wonder why he ain't selling the mango sauce by the gallon because-yeah-its like that lolFish is always well seasoned. Crispy and light. The Shrimp are battered properly, and the oil is good to go. The Hush puppies are something I don't get everywhere but always got here. The slightly sweet but somehow still savory taste is one of the better combinations here on earth. If the Scallops weren't so pricey (market priced) I'm sure I'd get 5lbs worth. Very tender, right natural sweetness, just the right amount of briny and crispy but delicate. Broiled snapper was fresh and well executed. We loved whatever hotsauce they gave us. I'm glad to say that the flavors are still the same. The service is still great. The place is still clean. Bills Kitchen might not be simply Fish in the 'hood no more. But one thing I'm grateful for is Bill is still most definitely in the kitchen!

Catfish and hush puppies were excellent and fried well and fresh! Service is prompt but note it is through a walk up window on the side.

Let me just say that the boiled salmon is on point, but the crabcake is not. There was too much filler. I'm not sure where the lump was since I didn't have much. Next time, they need to clean their grill so the crabcake will not look blackened. Will not return for the so-called lump crabcake.

The fried catfish is just out of this world. The fish is so buttery and soft and the coating is flavorful and crispy without overpowering the fish. I also got the hush puppies which I found just fine. Super crispy, which is nice, but I didn't really taste the corn - just the frying oil. Probably won't order those again but I'll definitely be back for the fish. A few sauces were included which is nice. Glad I didn't order extra sauces. But really the fish doesn't even need a sauce.

Im very upset. it's 1:00pm on a Tuesday and the place says it supposed to be open but regrettably, the establishment is currently closed. It appears that the information listed on Yelp is inaccurate, and I traveled all the way from Wheaton in anticipation of my visit!
