The (free) bread with the herby-olives-olive oil spread was so good, I'd come back just for that and an appetizer and/or salad! Soup of the day (lentil) was very good, and arancini also great. It was also cool that they offered a 1oz sample of several wines for $4+.Be aware for vegetarians, there's limited selection on the lunch menu - mozzarella sticks, a mushroom appetizer, burrata caprese, salads, broccoli with gnocchi, eggplant parm, and 2 pizza options, and soup of the day if you're lucky. Dinner menu has a few more options.

Really awesome spot. Great, old school feel. Mature and experienced waitstaff and a classic menu. The portion sizes are massive, so we split a seafood pasta dish that was phenomenal and still had leftovers for lunch. Great history and great experience.Highly recommend.

Tip: Make reservations Filomena has been on my radar for some time and I finally got to check it off the list. I called ahead to make reservations for a party of 3. Although spaces were limited, I managed to get a reservation. The restaurant was decorated nicely for anyone looking to take photos during a memorable meal. The waiter greeted us immediately and offered drinks to start. He brought complimentary bread and olive oil. The bread was perfect. Our food was delicious. For our appetizer we ordered the calamari. Not overly cooked or battered, it was a good choice to start. I got the carbonara. It was perfect. The noodles were al dente how I like it. The food came out promptly and everyone gave a thumbs up on their meal. The dessert menu looked great, however we were too full to try some. Perhaps next time. Yes, I'll be back. Overall the experience was good. The service, food and restaurant offerings is a plus. There's a coat area to hang your large coats during the winter. The waiting area is open, not cramped. The bathrooms are ok. There's a hall at the bathrooms that shows well known people that have visited the restaurant. Pretty cool to look at who was walking the restaurant you're in. The service was great. One thing to note. There are stairs inside the building upon entry that you must walk down to get to the actual restaurant.

Have come back multiple times since our first visit, always taste amazing and is consistently a favorite of ours. We did try a new dish, the lobster ravioli with ricotta and while it wasn't as much pasta itself it was still filling due to the lobster and cheese.

This place is wonderful. It's a classic DC institution everyone should go to once. For me, it's not my favorite pasta place though. I prefer Il Canale, Giovanni's or Caruso's Grocery. This place is definitely not vegetarian friendly. When I was asking the server about vegetarian options to share with my vegetarian friend, even their vodka pasta, which is a favorite of ours, had meat in it. They couldn't even have marinara sauce with pasta on the side. We did get the pesto pasta in the end, which was wonderful, along with the cheesecake. The reason to come here is their wonderful decorations for each holiday. My friend and I came here for galentine's day, and the decorations were wonderful. Overall, if you're a vegetarian, this place may not be the best but for meat eaters, you'll love it here!

We had an excellent dinner at Filomena! We did have some unique experiences- first, we came for restaurant week, and second, they were decorated for Valentine's Day. And boy, do they decorate for Valentine's Day! Please excuse the pink and red food photos! The Restaurant Week menu is a steal. We each paid $65 for our own appetizer, entree, and dessert. It was a massive amount of food easily amounting to two meals per person or more. We also received free bread at the beginning and everyone got a free shot of either amaretto or sambuca at the end. The food was delicious, with strong classic Italian flavors. We agreed the best appetizer was the arancini, which came with two giant arancini balls and an entire gravy bowl or sauce. The best entree I think was the seafood cannelloni- the lobster sauce does not miss! My friends preferred the veal in Marsala sauce, but that's okay, everyone is wrong sometimes. The staff were very friendly and warm. My sister was delighted to get to talk briefly with one of the "pasta mamas" and see her making pasta after our meal. Filomena is a DC classic for a reason!

I finally tried the famous Filomena! They still had their Christmas decorations up, which was A LOT, but it made the place feel so warm and festive. It felt like stepping into someone's cozy home. The prices here are definitely on the higher side, so keep that in mind. I ordered the Linguine Cardinal with lobster, and it was absolutely delicious, rich and full of flavor. Our meals came out very fast, which was great, but about 10 minutes after they arrived, we were asked if we wanted boxes. That made me feel a little rushed. After boxing up our meals, we checked out the dessert menu and decided on the Cookies and Cream Mousse. It was light and fluffy, but nothing too exciting just a simple, solid dessert. A nice touch was the complimentary shots of either Amaretto or Sambucca. I chose the Amaretto, which was very sweet with a bold kick! This isn't the kind of place I'd go for a casual dinner. It's more of a planned experience because of the prices. I'd consider coming back to try other dishes, but it's definitely more of a special occasion spot for me.

Filomena is a DC staple for a reason! We were here a few months ago celebrating our anniversary and then we went back again this last Friday. The food is fantastic! It is definitely pricey, but the quality is simple and delicious. The service is also outstanding. The restaurant is coated in red lights and the decor is no frills. We were definitely surprised when we made our way downstairs to the dining room. We ordered the crab purse to start (MUST ORDER!) and then had the lobster pasta, ravioli, and tiramisu. Our waiter offered us sambuca to finish our meal which is not my favorite, but we decided to try anyway! They were so friendly. We will definitely be back!

Our very cool Uber driver (and a bunch of online websites) recommended this restaurant as a must-do in Georgetown. My family and I stopped in for lunch on an early Sunday afternoon. We got sat down immediately and our server, Mouna, was quick to get us drinks and bread (super yummy and warm). I got the Gnocchi Della Mamma and it was SOOO much food! I definitely recommend sharing portions because wow! It was super good, though, and the sauce was perfect. My dad got the ravioli and meatballs and my sister got the vodka pasta with chicken. They also enjoyed their food. I think it's up there with some of the best Italian food but I also live in California and we have super good spots in OC. However, the service was top-notch and the decorations were lovely, which adds to the ambiance and makes this a spot to check out!

I don't know if there are any words that can describe this experience. This is by far the most delicious food i have had in a restaurant. Service is impeccable so professional and timely. Our waiter was the able best! Portions are huge so for 7 people we ordered 4 entrees and we had plenty leftover. Deserts are also to die for, i have no words. The entire experience was surreal and absolutely indescribable! I highly recommend! Ambiance is relaxed but people come there dressed nicely so expect higher level of professionalism. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not the stars reflect that.
