I absolutely love an unassuming, locally-owned spot serving affordable yet delicious cuisine! Frederico's quaint atmosphere, kind servers, and most importantly delicious food had me very impressed. I got the meat lasagna, and also had some calamari. I also got to try some of their stuffed chicken. All of the above were absolutely delicious, with hearty but not stuffing portions, at pricing that was difficult to beat! If you're looking for a more homey vibe and some solid Italian food, Frederico is the place to go.

In crystal city for a conference and decided we wanted some pasta. Found this cute little place with a lovely patio atmosphere. Greeted by a lovely lady that I'm SURE was a Nona. Ordered calamari it was fine. Veal Sorrentina - delish! Cannoli: delightful Service was good.

What a surprise to find a restaurant open on New Year's Day! The interior is cozy Italian decor. Maitre D was welcoming and recommended dishes since it was our first visit and the menu was extensive. Server Todd was friendly and attentive.

First time dining at Federico Ristorante Italiano in Arlington, VA.The restaurant has been at location for over 50 years. The atmosphere gave the authentic Italian feel. Our server Gino, made some great recommendations and everything we ordered was very delicious!! We had the following dishes:- Chicken piccata breast sautéed in butter with lemon topped with capers 5/5.-FBI (Full Blooded Italian) homemade lasagna with meatball and Italian sausage 5/5. - Salmon dish stuffed with crab and shrimp on top paired with a fresh vegetable medley and pasta 4.5/5. -Chicken Alfredo pasta 4/5. The cream sauced needed a bit more butter, Parmesan and garlic. Dessert's:- Cannoli filled with homemade ricotta cheese and chocolate chips lightly dusted with powdered sugar 5/5.-Crema caramel. Similar to a Mexican flan but with Brandy liquor 5/5. -Small pepperoni pizza 4/5. -Calamari appetizer 4/5. Definitely going back everyone was so nice to us and our 15 month old baby enjoyed eating a bit of pasta. Give this place a try when in the area.Happy Yelping :)

I was in Arlington (Crystal City) on business and came here for dinner. Italian cuisine is usually a safe bet if I'm unfamiliar with the local food scene. Federico is located on 23rd street, which is lined with bars and restaurants. The decor is old-school Italian with red and white tablecloths throughout. Very laid back vibe, and is the sort of place ideal for a group meal. I was dining solo and ordered:* Godfather Cocktail: My bro-in-law is the Scotch connoisseur in the family, while I'm a novice. I do think that Scotch and Amaretto go well together for a bold, refreshing drink.* For entrees, the Chicken Cacciatore was great. Chicken meat was silky smooth and soft, as was the spaghetti. Sauce was simple but divine - basic peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes. Equally good on both chicken and noodles.* I somehow saved room for dessert. For Italian, it has to be Tiramisu. A single order was huge, like a small brick. Yet, the texture so soft and creamy with tons of rum and espresso flavor. I like this dessert 50/50 bitter and sweet.Overall, excellent food and a nice intro to the Crystal City dining theme.

Really had high hopes here - especially when the photos online made it seem like it was solid old-world Italian food. You'll see with the photos things look good - but check my account - I know great Italian and this was out of the can grocery store Italian. It was awful. Things did not go well on our trip. At all. Between the group of us, we ordered 9 items. NINE. And I would say they failed on 8/9.1.) Mozzarella Caprese - mozz ball slices, with tomato slices, on top of regular lettuce. There was ZERO olive oil, no basil leaves, not enough balsamic, no seasoning. This looked like something an amateur would make on a TV show. (0.5/5) 2.) Bruschetta - old garlic bread, topped with diced tomatoes, and melted cheese. This tasted old? Not like that it sat out but just a weird taste to it. Like it was made in a dirty oven and that smell got on it. Also I remarked it had a taste like I was eating cologne. (0/5) 3.) Mozzarella Napoli - fried ravioli stuffing covered in "cheese" which looked like melted donut glaze. And that's being diplomatic. Inside was cool, not hot at all. Came with marinara sauce - watery. (0.25/5)4.) Margherita Pizza - This was awful. It was a cheese pizza WITH NO BASIL that resembled and tasted like the pizza a buffet makes and sits under a heat lamp. Dough had no flavor - was cardboard and not seasoned at all. SAUCE WAS SAME AS DIPPING SAUCE. (0/5) 5.) White Pizza - Crust was ok looking - terrible large onion petals on top - just tossed on no real rhyme or scheme to it. No taste as well - just flavor blended into everything else we ate. (0.5/5) 6.) Salad - had a house "salsa dressing" which was serviceable and was the highlight of the meal to this point. (2/5) 7.) Spaghetti Carbonara - sauce was thin and watery. The spaghetti was cooked properly, but that was it. No flavor, no creaminess or thickness to anything. Flavorless. (0/5)8.) Chicken Parmesan - Shocking - the sauce was the same as the pizza sauce, same as the dipping sauce. Chicken was just a brick of breaded sand. Spaghetti was cooked right but again - sauce was flavorless and watery. (0.5/5) 9.) Fettucine Alfredo - pasta was done properly but again the sauce was AWFUL. Sweet Alfredo?!?! Cmon man what is going on in the kitchen?!?!Our waitress was nice but as absent as it came. The hostess ended up filling our drinks. Several times. When the bill came, a convenient 20% tip was already added. LOL. What?!?! Then there was a line for an additional tip. Yeah ok. If tipping isn't voluntary then it's a fee, not a tip. That's criminal.Time has obviously passed this place by - as I should have known when no one was there on a Saturday at 8:30pm and we showed an hour early and had no problem getting a table. BUYER BEWARE. They need a serious facelift or they're done.

Authentic Italian restaurant close to the DCA airport. We went mid afternoon on a weekday when the restaurant was pretty much empty. The service was wonderful. The food was delicious - I had a lasagna, which I had been craving for for a long time. A good lasagna is hard to find. The restaurant was kid friendly and accommodating for my picky so . And the restaurant had a true European atmosphere to it with huge kitchen utensils decorating the ceiling and walls.

I very much enjoyed my meal here. Had a Godfather cocktail (refreshing on a boiling hot evening), and for dinner their dish called The Stromboli, which is squid with either red or white clam sauce, served over pasta. Delicious. And a nice house green salad. With a glass of house Chianti to complement. Great service, very attentive, nice homestyle atmosphere - very casual ambience, no pretenses, which I like. I will eat here again!
