What a great experience. It was packed in a Friday night. We were promptly seated but Dina the owner came over and greeted us and asked what we ordered. We said the Eat Like an Egyptian special and she seated us at a larger table! She was really friendly and kind! The restaurant feels like a cozy cafe and really nice with artifacts from Egypt around the restaurant. The food was really good! It was hard to decide what was my favorite but these were the items that were part of the Eat like an Egyptian special:Falafel was amazing and delicious! Perhaps our favorite item we had!! 10/5!Susu's chicken was really delicious, crunchy creamy!Kofta was seasoned and amazing!Hummus and baba ghanoush were decadent. The khoshary was and interesting combination of pasta lentils and rice. I know I'm missing others but it was a special perfect for two people to share. You get a nice delicious spread of items that are amazing!

I came here for lunch a few weeks and it was as tasty and enjoyable as ever. It was crowded on a Sunday afternoon but we were able to get a table. The food is as enjoyable as ever. The large portion of koshary is hot a fresh, the tomato sauce is on the side so you can control how much to add. I was hungry and still brought some home. The bread and roasted potatoes were both hot and fresh and I'd get them again. The bread went perfecly with the well spiced hummus. The Zaatar with Olive Oil and Pita Bread was a unique blend of Egyptian spices on pieces of pita bread and I'll get that again.Service is always friendly here and I'll be back again.

I've been meaning to try Fava Pot for a while, and after one of my friends hyped it up, the three of us decided to stop by for dinner yesterday. This location is the OG, and my friend claims that it has better food compared to the other one in DC. The service was fast, and we shared a starter, a soup, and a platter between the three of us.FAVA BEANS WITH YOGURT & HUMMUS - 11My friend mentioned they're known for the fava beans, but we all wanted to try the fava beans with hummus instead. This is a chunkier hummus with various toppings mixed in, including fava beans and cucumbers. There's a lot of different textures in each bite: smooth and creamy from the yogurt, gritty from the hummus and beans, and a bit of crunch from the cucumber. However, the flavor was a bit bland and underwhelming, as it lacked salt and seasoning. It also came with a piece of fresh pita that we ate the hummus with.RED LENTIL SOUP - 10The soup came in a large pottery bowl with unique designs, covered by a piece of pita. Initially, we assumed the portion would be huge, but upon uncovering it, we saw that the soup filled less than half of the bowl. They provided three bowls and spoons for sharing, which was nice. The soup was on the thinner side, but it was packed with lots of seasonings and ingredients like onion, carrots, and garlic, which blended together nicely with the red lentils. Each bite was warm and homey. It was a solid red lentil soup, but I'm not sure if the price justified the portion size.MIXED GRILL PLATTER - 36This platter comes with a lot of food, definitely more than one person could finish on their own. The star of the platter is the variety of grilled meats: two lamb chops, four pieces of chicken kabob, and two pieces of kofta (ground meat with garlic and various seasonings/herbs). On top of the meats was a small piece of pita, garnished with some red onions and herbs. It also comes with a generous portion of Egyptian salad, featuring fresh vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions, all tossed with parsley and a light, citrusy dressing. For carbs, we could choose between roasted potatoes or Egyptian rice (and of course, we chose rice). There is also a couple sauces to accompany the platter, including garlic sauce. The meats were incredibly well-seasoned. I don't usually like ground meat, but the kofta was my favorite of the three, since I really enjoyed its texture and flavors. The Egyptian rice was fluffy and a bit sticky, like a stew, instead of individual, dry grains I expected. It paired well with the garlic sauce, which was creamy and smooth with an intense garlicky flavor and left a lingering aftertaste, and the meats. Overall, the highlights for me were the flavorful meats and garlic sauce.Overall, the food was incredibly flavorful and delicious, with the exception of the hummus. While it's a bit on the pricey side, I'd definitely return for the mixed grill platter.

You are going to pay a considerable amount to eat here. Can't lie and say there wasn't some sticker shock. Yet the falafel, chicken, and other dishes here are delicious. Rent probably is part of the cost aspect, as is location, location, location. This is an impressive Egyptian place, and you'll enjoy a variety of dishes. Their menu is extensive, so much so that a picky eater will find a good meal. My goodness the kabobs are grilled so well.Parking is a cinch. Once inside you will feel valued and welcome. Fava Pot employees are exceptional. Have seen tremendous service each time. Good date spot, or for a family meal. Nice interior and very comfortable. If you are in the area, and want a solid experience, by all means go here.

I tried breakfast at father pot today and everything was delicious! The goat cheese omelette, or with homemade pesto was my favorite. It was filled to the brown with goat cheese. I also tried their cheesy Kunafah with their mint tea set up! Perfect on a cold day. Their breakfast platter comes with two eggs, falafel and sauces, fava beans, spicy cheese, and they're freshly baked pita. The service was really welcoming, and the ambience was really warm. I can't wait to go back to try their famous sandwiches! Plenty of on-site parking as well!

My friend was raving about this restaurant, so I thought I'd go check it out. He had previously had a chicken wrap there that he really enjoyed. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away in the outside patio area. We were greeted when we walked in, and our server provided us some good recommendations. To start off, we went with the chef's appetizer platter. We got a mixture of the dolmas, fava beans, and baba ganoush. Although this was all really tasty, everything was mushed together so it was hard to tell which one I was eating. I probably would've preferred them to be somewhat separated on the plate. For our entrees, we went with the Grilled chicken and kofta platter. Both of these were really good, and I liked the sides it came with. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were decent. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here either.

Decided to come here after seeing the reviews. I ordered the eat like an egyptian, chef's selection but it just wasn't to my taste. The pickled eggplants were very sour. Half the items on the selection I didn't particularly enjoy- one of the dishes (top left) was just macaroni pasta on top of rice with tomato sauce on jt? I've also had moussaka elsewhere before that I enjoyed more. I was unimpressed by everything overall. Again, could just be me and my tastebuds lol

I've been here 2-3 times now and I enjoy each time. The drinks are amazing and with the cozy establishment you can see them making them right there. The food is hearty. Admittedly I have no frame of reference for Egyptian food elsewhere but the food is rich, full of flavor, and something you want to prepare to come hungry for. I believe it's the owner of the business, but there's a woman who is always there and very friendly. She'll usually come around to make sure your meal is right or suggest something if you want a recommendation. It's a great place for people with dietary restrictions - I've come here with vegans and people with gluten intolerance and both parties have been able to find several options.

Been wanting to try this Egyptian restaurant for a while now, and was excited to find the time to try it out. A cozy atmosphere with less of a sit-down vibe, and more of a to go vibe with its to go screen by the door and QR code menus on the table, but it seemed owner was present so we felt sufficiently welcomed by her warm and friendly service. She was able to identify what would suit us as first-time customers and really helped us navigate this menu. She also took our order for us, which was kind.We were able to take advantage of their weekday happy hour (ends at 6pm) where all alcohol was 50% off, including full wine bottles. Thoroughly enjoyed the red we ordered, Avalon. The hummus was excellent and we were excited to try the falafels that were made from Fava beans. We were provided extra naan too!The mixed grill platter was an excellent introduction to how well they grill their meats. The chicken was flavorful and tender. The beef was tasty and juicy. The potatoes were good enough as a meal of their own. Would definitely come back to try more of their menu!

Loved the food. Had the Lamb Fattah and Kunafe. The Lamb dish consisted of Lamb Shank, rice with a garlic tomato sauce and crispy pita bread. The lamb is cooked to perfection and flavor is on point. The rice itself was quite nice. I wasn't a fan of the sauce and wish it came on the side. Personally I am not much of a sauce person. The crispy pita added a nice crunch. The Kunafe was quite good, the portion size was huge - can easily suffice 2-3 people, if not 4! It was very fresh. The inside is well decorated and there is a very nice seating space outside as well. Would love to try coffee/tea and other menu options in future.
