Enigma is a surprisingly fantastic vibe!The music is feel-good, the cocktails are creative, the service is personable, and the food is fantastic!Because of the colorful and artfully stylish decor, plush seating, and low seductive lighting, you would think this place is only good for drinks, but the food is A+++.The branzino (seasonal item), the duck fat fries, the U street burger, the roasted brussel sprouts, and the seared scallops were ALL sooo mouthwatering and delicious. Everything we had was amazing..but those few items were THE standouts in my opinion. The branzino, which we ordered twice, was so well seasoned and cooked to perfection!And Their dessert was phenomenal! -the warm brownie with ice cream. oh my goodness!! And this brownie wasn't some "regular-degular" brownie; it was the most moist, chocolately, not overly sweet, perfectly baked brownie...like how??? We attempted to order two more orders, because it was so good, but unfortunately our waiter did not know the kitchen was closed, so we waited and waited, then was informed that the brownie wasn't going to be in our mouths again that night...sigh!Their cocktails were creative spins on classic drinks, but could've been a bit more consistent with the taste-perhaps one of the bartenders was still in training? But overall, the cocktails were good.My good friend had the pleasure of hosting her celebratory dinner in the upstairs area-which was breathtakingly stylish, cozy, and bougie..just the way I like it ;) And after 10pm, the entire place turns into lounge w/ a bustling bar area...definitely a vibe.Parking---hahahahaha...it's U street, so just ride share there...or prepare to walk because you had to park so kinda far.Overall, highly recommend! And oh, did I mention this business is Black owned? Ethiopian to be exacted..congratulations!

This weekend was a little hectic in DC due to the Pride event all over the city but we made it to Enigma and I'm so glad we did. The atmosphere is inviting and mature. The food was amazing and the drinks were too. What made this place special was the service from Kareem to the bartenders who were so kind to us. They have valet parking. Get the snapper or the U St. burger.#HappyEating

9/1/24 BRUNCH EXPERIENCE:This time I convinced a friend of mine to order the Chicken & Waffles because it was SO tasty the other two times I ordered it. It used to have a chicken tender for every piece of fluffy waffle. This version of fried chicken had a breast and a leg. The service was efficient and friendly! You can't beat the vibe on Sundays for brunch! The DJ plays the recording get music to set the tone for a fun time!

First off, if you're in DC you MUST try this spot! You'll never know who might see tucked in this place.The food is EVERYTHING! Staff is amazing! This establishment runs like a 5 star restaurant and the food quality speaks for itself! Bon AppétitThis is going to be a staple! Trust that they will likely be on reservation only in months to come! Came to Enigma on a Saturday night for drinks and had a great time! We were greeted immediately by a manager who sat us at the bar and then were shortly greeted by the bartender at the bar.Service was on point! Super friendly, polite, professional, and attentive from both the manager and bartender.We had drinks and a couple small plates. I had the "sexy lady" which is a cute small but potent pink drink. The cocktail was enjoyable and well crafted.Overall liked the vibe and atmosphere of Enigma. It wasn't too crowded and there were plenty of seats both at the bar and in the restaurant. My only complaint is that around 11pm they turned the music up to an ungodly level and I was screaming at the person next to me in a mostly empty restaurant (didn't seem like a dancing place, more like a restaurant cocktail bar). We left because we couldn't hear each other and it was uncomfortably loud for us. I get that this place is right on U and maybe it gets litty at night but music doesn't have to be at screaming level to create a vibe, just my opinion though! Would come back but not late at night.

We had a great time at the bar on Saturday night. It was not overly crowded but was busy. The DJ played a variety of music and kept the energy up.It was nice to sit and have a conversation and catch up with friends! I totally forgot I was on u street since it was so nice in there. :) Definitely will go back!

The staff are so friendly and accommodating, great ambiance. The food was fresh and hot. Mimosas are wonderful too!! We met the chef he was so humble. We are glad we found this spot after our massage.

Great vibes. Great food. Good for large groups too. Will definitely be back sooner than later.

This resturant is literally closed. 9 people showed up for a reservation that I not only MADE but CONFIRMED. They reach out and literally confirmed our reservation. When we showed up there was a note on the door that they are closed for renovations and the inside looked like a mess. If they are closed, they should not have the ability to take reservations. 0 stars.

Have to come back and update my review after having a great event at Enigma! We had a 25 person reservation for an engagement party and it couldn't have gone any better. The staff was so helpful, attentive, and patient. I felt taken care of before the event and during and they really made an effort to make our bride and groom feel special. The food was excellent, I had the savory this time which I will definitely be ordering again. Looking forward to having another event there soon! Also they played music for us a bit so that we could celebrate!
