El Rancherito

We visited El Rancherito Restaurant for the first time today, and did take out. We ordered half a chicken which came with two sides (we chose yucca, and rice and beans) and got a pork pupusa to try as well. It was plenty of food for two! The charcoal chicken was awesome and super moist. The yucca definitely came right out of the fryer and was so good. We really enjoyed the rice and beans, as well as the pork pupusa. We'd ordered it all again- we're stuffed and super happy. We can't wait until they get their alcohol license to go for dinner and drinks!Oh also- the Amarillo sauce was my favorite, and my boyfriend liked the green sauce. The pupusa also came with a spicy tomato sauce that complemented it really well.

I really wish we had places like this in the San Francisco Bay area. I love all the pollo a la brasa places out here in the DMV. El Rancherito's exterior belies its cozy simple dining area ambiance. The chicken is falling off the bone delicious and tender with crispy well seasoned skin. The plantains were perfectly cooked, not mushy. Black beans and rice were flavorful without being overly seasoned.Very good simply done comfort food. If I lived here, I would eat here a lot!

Everything comes fast and the worker is very nice. BEST PUPUSAS IN RIVERDALE!! They are so hot and cheesy. the drinks are the bomb too!
