El Pollo Sabroso

El pollo sabroso is a very authentic hole in the wall restaurant located in a nice neighborhood near Target, Marshall's, and Lidl. Most servers speak Spanish so it may be useful to have some Spanish handy when ordering. The food was decent. It was fresh and very hot when I received it, but it was satisfying to see the cheese pull of the queso lol. The pupusa itself wasn't very flavorful, but when I paired it with the two sauces they gave me, it gave it an extra kick of flavor. My friend was satisfied with her 3 steak tacos, as they filled her up by the end of our lunch date.

Love the tasty YUM chicken with yucca...and their homemade green sause is a huge MUST MUST for me..I love to dip chicken & yucca in the verdi sause...I order a huge container to bring home!Counter person is always kind and welcoming.Usually..I am the only non-Spanish speaker in this modest YUMMY place.. I get a whole chicken with 2 yucca side and a tub of green sause to bring back home to Alexandria Virginia!

Some of the BEST and most authentic Latin American food in the DMV. Their fresh pupusas are INSANE (especially when you have them fresh!). Definitely recommend supporting some of the only authentic Latin American cuisine in DC!

I ordered a 1/4 chicken meal with dark meat (the only way to go honestly). I asked for plantains and rice on the side, an extra side of black beans and two pupusas. The pork pupusa was amazing as well as the plantains and beans. The rice and chicken could have been a bit more flavorful but I still enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the combination of the green spicy sauce and the sweet white sauce. So delicious when dipped with a pupusa. I paid $16 for all of this which is super reasonable for the amount of food. This is definitely enough for two meals (for me). The man taking my order up front was friendly, patient, and helpful. I'll def visit again to try more of the menu.

One street off the main drag and a few storefronts down is this underappreciated gem. Most everyone seems to come here to order the roast chicken. Personally, I was hoping for pollo saltado but they don't serve it and so I settled on the chicken and chorizo combination plate instead. This was one of those times when Plan B turned out even better!The chicken was good, tender, nicely seasoned, juicy...but the CHORIZO was the real star! If you know Mexican or even Portuguese style chorizo, you'll have to erase that from your thinking. This chorizo is made of seasoned ground pork (?) split lengthwise and grilled to perfection. It's much leaner and not cured. It was delicious! I'd return just for this dish.

The food was amazing and fresh. I really enjoyed every part of this meal. I'm a sucker for authentic pupusas and this place didn't dissapoint. I will definitely keep this book marked for the future and eat here again. Everything was fresh and well packaged.

SO GOOD. We happened on this place on our way to another restaurant. The Peruvian chicken was seasoned exceptionally well. I got the black beans n rice, which were quite tasty. We also had the lomo saltado and it was amazing. The yuca is cooked well and it's delicious. If you weren't careful, you'd walk right by the place. We went right back the following week to test if it was a fluke. It was not. Just as delicious the next time!

We ordered take out from here and the food was ready pretty quickly. We a couple orders of rotisserie chicken, it was great. The yuca and plantains were cooked very well. Would def go back again. My only 2 complaints are very small. I didn't like the rice but Im a bit picky when it comes to rice. The other thing is the green sauce had great flavor but was very watery, which is a real shame bc it was hard to eat.

Found a chicken bone in my beef torta Mexicana. NEVER AGAIN. Also, as a Peruvian, there was nothing Peruvian in that place. And it was overpriced. Zero stars.

Waste of money on this food. They can't even fry yucca right. The rice is too dry as well
