Earlybird DC

I never knew a place like this existed here at the Yards, especially a place that allows you to order ahead. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the breakfast burrito was. I ordered the Simply and added the carne asada and the avocado smash. I think next time, I'll do a different meat, as the carne asada was kind of tough.

Giving this location a 2 star because of the weird setup of a "restaurant" this is. It reminds me of a ghost kitchen. They sell burritos, coffee, pizza and sushi. My friend and I went in to try "earlybird" which is breakfast burritos. The sign is on the door. Once we ordered, we were told that it was to-go only, that if we wanted to eat in we would've had to go inside for formal sitting. The restaurant with the formal sitting has a different name called "Scarlet Oak." On Saturdays and Sundays you can buy "earlybird" food in the "scarlet oak" restaurant and sit down. My friend and I ended up having to eat our breakfast in the cold outside because there were no signs or reviews indicating this. Otherwise, the food was decent 3/5. The sauces were the main attraction. The early bird latte wasn't great. I supposed in the warmer months it would be nice to eat outside on the picnic tables they have. Overall, not much to write home about and the whole set-up is bit weird to me.

finally stopped in to try earlybird recently - where else can you get a breakfast burrito at 7am? not perfect, but it was big, filled with eggs and potatoes as well as fried chicken, it was tasty and a solid breakfast after a workout. Order was ready on time. Will be back to try others but this is a great breakfast option

Earlybird does not get enough attention as a breakfast option in DC, but it's solid for breakfast burritos and now breakfast tacos. I usually try to stop by if I'm in Navy Yard. I had a burrito that was good during a previous visit and I recently tried two of their breakfast tacos - the Simplistico and steak tacos. Plus, you get two choices of sauce. I got the dark red and green. I ordered at the single self-order kiosk inside the tiny store. It took a little less than 15 minutes to come out with two tacos. I took them both home after, but there's a few tables that make up their outdoor patio seating if you want to eat it right away. The Simplistico was my favorite and close enough to what I can get back in Texas. The steak was okay for me. Both the sauces went well with the tacos. Not too spicy. They also have fried chicken tacos, which I want to come back to try.

Grabbed the Carne asada burrito and the chorizo burritos recently. They definitely needed to be accommodated by their hot sauce. The hottest sauce wasn't too hot. I can't comment on the service or the ambiance because I just picked up the food. However, with as many places to order from around the city I'm afraid to say I won't be returning.

Fried chicken breakfast burrito was cold and lacked flavor. I placed my order at the digital kiosk and waited 30 minutes for it to come out cold. The fried chicken itself was the coldest thing in the burrito. I wouldn't recommend. Hashbrowns so greasy it leaked through the foil and onto the paper bag, ultimately giving me greasy seats in my car. With so many good options in DC for quick breakfast eats, I'd spend my money elsewhere. First time going in.

Good concept. Not sure if I would get the burrito again. Definitely want to try the pizza next time

Quick, good, friendly. Portion sizing is great, coffee is above average, and the food quality is fantastic l highly recommend

This is a hidden little Jim! The food is outstanding. My husband had the Carne Asada burrito and I had the chicken sausage egg sandwich. Both were very well priced and the flavor was truly amazing.

Food was bomb!!! I highly recommend the egg sandwich with bacon! Drinks were delicious and costumer service was on point
