Duke's Grocery is a great spot for drinks and socializing with friends, especially during happy hour. The pub has a classic English pub vibe, making it a fun and lively place to hang out. The happy hour menu offers some good deals on drinks and food, making it a budget-friendly option for a casual outing. However, I found the food to be a bit overpriced for what you get. I paid $22 for a BLT, which was decent but not exceptional. The service was also a bit slow at times.Overall, Duke's Grocery is a decent spot for drinks and socializing with friends.

Duke's Grocery is good for burgers. They even have good brunch. I'm not entirely wowed by it, but their British breakfast was enjoyable, and I believe better than their chicken & waffles. However, I will admit that a breakfast plate with sausage can be better had by another place nearby.Still, you can't go wrong here, and in the winter, with the numerous indoor seating they offer in this renovated location, it's a safe choice. Staff was friendly although a bit uncompromising when it came to making substitutions. Prices were decent. The renovation makes the vibe a bit better - as there's no longer creaky floors, and the floors seem to be nicely polished. It essentially looks and feels like a new restaurant rather than a rusty dive-joint it used to be.

Unfortunately, service was extremely slow when we went on a Sunday afternoon. Despite there not being many tables, we had to flag down multiple servers just to get our order in and our check. In terms of food, what we ordered was ok. Bangers and mash: bangers were good, mash was too pureed and thin for my liking. I wanted their Sunday Roast but they said it was still marinating and wouldn't be ready until 4pm - which was disappointing. Sunday Roast should be served all day! I did order the Yorkshire pudding which is available as a starter/shareable dish served with butter, which was a bit weird to me because I'm used to having it with gravy (preferably as part of Sunday Roast), but I was down to try it. Unfortunately it was so overcooked that it was slightly burnt and hard and was way too salty. Overall, I was really disappointed. Maybe stick to their full English, which others have enjoyed, and their burger.

I had been to Duke's before but another location. I prefer my first experience. This one was okay, our waiter didn't provide very good service but I liked my brunch "meal" choice of hummus with extra veggies. This and the salad were the only two healthy choices on the menu

I went with my friend and it was loud. The place is small and it can quickly be filled and be super loud. I got a little overwhelmed. The food was really good. I enjoyed the shakshuka that came with naan. I like my shakshuka with the texture of the veggies but this was all blended like a sauce. It was good. My friend had the chicken and waffles and the waffles were a little too crispy for my liking but the chicken it was pretty good the honey chilli sauce. For dessert we had the sticky toffee bread pudding and omg it was so good. I may go back to enjoyed it with coffee. It's huge so you can share it. The service was pretty good, and kind.

I was there for the Narnia pop up and the wardrobe entryway was really cute! The drinks were okay. We got the Lucy and Aslan themed drinks

Recently reopened location (the original Dukes) needs some work. Went for brunch. Shakshuka was watered down and lukewarm. We eat them in many restaurants & this one was very average. Bottomless mimosas only available if the entire table orders. This isn't reasonable and isn't in line with other DC restaurants. We had one mimosa to try and it was meh - they must not use fresh orange juice and lower quality sparkling wine.No kids menu - this makes the restaurant not family friendly. The owner needs to correct that. On the plus side the chicken and waffles and French toast were good. If the owners fix these issues, I'd return, but not until that.

I've been to Dukes for both brunch and dinner, and honestly I haven't been as impressed as I expected. The food is good for a typical meal, but I just found the menu slightly limited and the dishes were a little bland. I will say the bacon and brisket sandwich were the best items I've tried!
