Duffy's Irish Pub - Dupont Circle NW

On a cold late night in DC my friend and I looked for some bars that were open late and he thought of this one. We had a great time here for a number of reasons - all the staff were from Philly, which I could hear right away. It seemed many of the patrons were too based on sports logos and accents. The bartender was super welcoming and attentive so we ordered some beers.They also have a check-in offer of a free drink, so be sure to use that if you come in.I had a local DC beer and of course had to have one Yuengling on draft, a favorite beer growing up. It was a welcoming and happy place. I'm sure the bar food is good, we weren't hungry on our visit. If you're in DC and need an Irish style pub to have a drink or watch a game, this is a convenient one near Dupont Circle.

I'm generally not into Irish pubs but I swing by here sometimes as it's right near my office making it extremely convenient. The service is always good and the atmosphere is basic. I've had the wings a few times and they're ok. Apparently, people rave about their wings but they're no better than any other place you can get wings. They also have a pretty decent whiskey selection.

On 1/13/14, exactly one hundred and seventeen friends who've met in an online game met at this pub. Our group was very disparate, containing an airline pilot, a politician, a seven-time New York Times Dad Bod and Beard Award winner, a few lawyers, and a British Man who loves explaining how Harry Potter is the best movie ever and is a true representation of how British Society behaves. The point being despite us all being nerds, we were treated incredibly well by Duffy's staff and management, even to the point that during to our arrival, a group of entirely fake mother f*ckers were being rude to the staff. We expected the worst, but we got the best from them. Even the member of our group that owns a farm mentioned his Llamas were better behaved than those jerks, Duffy's Staff was unphased. Whereas they could have gone all Dante Hicks on us, they were Kings and Queens of customer service. The food was amazing, drinks were on point and cold, despite that our bearded leader ordered exactly 75 Bud Light Limes and Michelob Ultra's, their staff kept up service like Andre Agassi in his prime. Our leader's supply remained unexhausted unlike the Dallas Cowboys that night, he had them in hand faster than he could consume them. We will for sure return here next year, when we all meet again to celebrate our collective friendship. This place has earned our perpetual patronage.

Come for the Guinness, stay for the wings.We stopped in late night for some beers and snacks. Service was fast and friendly. We got an order of wings and some shepherd's pie. The wings were top notch! We just got the standard buffalo wings and they were just the right size, well cooked and very saucey. The sauce is great because it's a bit of a unique twist on buffalo. It's nice when every place does not have the same mix of Red Hot and Butter (this was not).So, wings fit the bill. Very salty and spicy if I recall (it was late) and want to come back again soon.My friends enjoyed the shepherd's pie, but it wasn't the best I've had. The beef was kind of mild and the potatoes were not crisped on the top. However, a solid home made offering that you can season as you like and I suppose you can order it "crispy" to make sure it comes out that way. Yeah, I'd order it again.

Some of the very best wings in DC can be found at Duffys. Originally found this place for delivery, but decided to go in one day and loved it. In addition to having great wings, the service is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I have decent heat tolerance but even the medium sauce had me getting a slight sweat, so when in doubt, go lower on heat level here

I enjoyed wings and two pints of Guinness with friends to celebrate my retirement. I enjoyed the bartending staff both M & F.Go have a drink or a . Fun to come.

Yes, the dominant energy at Duffy's is old man bar, but that's not the only energy here. Young 20 somethings hang alongside mothers cradling their babies -- it's everyone who loves good bar food and a convivial atmosphere.If you're traveling, Duffy's is a DC take on the Irish pub. Everyone is welcome -- long term DC folk and accents abound. You can chill, maybe make a new friend. Watch a game and set a spell

Cool little place close to my hotel. Will be back to try the wings and watch more of the Olympics.
