My partner and I were invited to a gathering of 8 here this evening. We arrived early and were greeted warmly. We were promptly seated at the table, and they filled our water glasses and brought over bread/butter to munch on. I went to the bar and bought a glass of wine and cocktail ($24 for the two). Brought the drinks back to the table and waited for the others to arrive. My partner and I were both impressed. The service was great. Throughout the evening, our water glasses were filled a number of times. When the bread ran out for the group, it was immediately replaced with fresh bread and a new supply of butter. I had the spinach and veal lasagna. It was a healthy portion of lasagna and tasted good - I would have liked a little more spice in the sauce, but it was ok. My partner's pork chop looked and, they told me, tasted amazing. Accompanied with carmelized apples with a hint of balsamic, green beans and potato wedges. All excellent. I wish I had taken a picture of the entrees. Back to my lasagna, it would have been nice if the lasagna had come with a few vegetables, like the green beans my partner's came with. We didn't do dessert, but "the table" ordered one spumoni with 8 spoons. It made its way around the table and the small sample I got tasted rich and flavorful. A decent portion for sharing (maybe not for 8 though!). : )The atmosphere is old school, a little dark but not off-putting. We would come back snd try some of the other items on the menu. Definitely a good experience and good food.

This is a place that everyone in DC should know about. It is the perfect setting for an intimate dinner, or to gather with a group of old friends and relatives for a special occasion such as a quiet birthday gathering. The elegant white tablecloth restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Westchester complex. Service is impeccable and waitstaff are in tuxedo like uniforms. The clientele is older and the decor has a grand and country club like feel. Wonderfully high ceilings with incredible painted wooden columns and ornate moldings. There are large arched windows that are typical of 1930's sophistication. The prompt waitstaff immediately brought some martinis which felt right at home in this space. There are a number of appetizers and salads to choose from as well as a variety of seafood, steak, and Italian pasta dishes. As expected with this type of place the food tends to be on the milder side as far as spices. Started with an artichoke appetizer and an arugula salad with hearts of palm, oranges and pine nuts from the daily specials. For the entree I had the trout dish which came topped with spinach and some crabmeat and a lemon white wine sauce with a side of linguini. They offer valet parking so it is a perfect place to host your cherished grandparents, parents or old friends for a private evening where they will feel spoiled with attention far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It's amazing how you can get veal, mashed potatoes, and zucchini to taste exactly the same. Service ? Really ? Ask me about missing food. The room is very nice and comfortable. Only gave it a star because I had to in order to warn you. We used to love this place when it was at its previous location.

Through lack of planning on my part, we were in DC on a Saturday night and had not made dinner reservations. Graving Italian, we found DeCarlos with availability. First, we almost left the restaurant as it was not readily identifiable at night. We and the Uber driver were confused. Upon entry, a quaint room but we were seated in the most uncomfortable wooden seats. The house salad was tasty. The dishes are hard to type but the pasta with lobster, shrimp and crab, I am told was delicious. Creamy, buttery and flavorful dish that did not skimp on the ingredients. The chicken meal was tasty. As I've seen in other reviews, we were easily the youngest people in the joint. It was an enjoyable experience but not one that would take me out of the way again.

DeCarlo's is an old breed of refined dining that you don't see often anymore: moody candlelit interior, high-backed leather booths along the walls, white tablecloths, and formal waitstaff. Autographed celebrity photos on the wall and a salad named for Diane Rehm. It is quite the neighborhood establishment and we were excited to finally visit, only to find out that it will be moving locations soon! We ordered the Agnolotti alla Crema and the Frutti di Mare. I would love it if there were more vegetarian options to try, as the fresh pasta was excellent and the sauces well made. Make sure to save room for the decadent desserts! I love the covered patio dining as well, to enjoy good weather as well as to stay COVID safe. During the pandemic they stopped lunch service but I hope to see it resume!

I have just been to Carlos'1) When asked for the customary bread and butter served in all restaurants, the waiter answered they were out of it. Not the first time it happens 2) The chicken limoncello: the bland rubberish chicken with tiny mushrooms were coated with a bland lemony sauce. The tiny mushrooms seemed canned. with no savor. The mashed potatoes as accompaniment are what you could find in schools dining- halls.

We had not been to DeCarlos since they moved to the Westchester complex. The room that we were in was lovely, with high ceilings and tables spread far apart from each other that insured privacy. Our dishes were delicious, although the linguine alla bolognese was more like a child's portion than that for an adult. Our waiter was very attentive. We did find it outrageous, though, that they now charge $3 for breadsticks! We thought that was pretty cheap of them.

Loved it. First time at new location. Great service and really good food. The pacing of the meal was on point. Not rushed. Reasonable prices. Skews older but that's fine with me.
