I'm late to the party but so glad I stumbled upon Death & Co! After dinner a few blocks away a few friends and I were looking for a night cap and after doing a quick search for some nearby speakeasies up pops Death & Co! When we arrived in Blagden Alley we walked in circles for a bit before discovering the door (it's there - keep looking) but eventually found it. Once inside we climbed the stairs and found some warm Christmas decor and were greeted by the most amazing host - Khalil! He told us there was a wait of about 15 minutes but we could hang out up front. While we waited in the heated area Khalil brought us some Prosecco shooters and let us peak inside to see what was on the horizon. When our table was ready we walked in to the bar which had an elevated swanky vibe which was both cozy and warm. Very NYC vibes - IYKYK. The menus were filled with epic drinks and the mixologists were working hard to provide delicious drinks. Bonus - we were there on a Monday which happens to be the day they offer $13 modern classic cocktails so we all decided to order those. I tried the Silver Monk with a little spice which was refreshing with the cucumber but still had a nice (minimal) kick. Others opted for the Old Fashioned and the Negroni which both received stellar reviews. We didn't have any bar bites since we just left dinner but we will indeed be back! They even have mock tails for those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages!Needless to say we had a wonderful time at D&C and were provided with excellent service and drinks. A true 5 star experience.

In 2006 my boyfriend (now husband) used to drag me to all the cocktail bars and we loved Death & Co over Pegu, Employee's Only, etc. This is a pale substitute that just seems like another place trying too hard with too many procedures. Like we almost didn't get a seat at the bar (reservations for bar seats? sorry i'm old) because the host didn't think we could be done in 90 mins? We may be in our forties but can still down two $20 cocktails in under an hour and a half...

Stumbled in here without a reservation and the outdoor patio was so cozy! We had the option to sit anywhere, and open a tab at the bar. The menu has tons of options and the host was great, he gave me some tips on the best time to visits and their signature drinks. I can only imagine the next time we'll visit we will make a reservation, to be on the safe side. Great drinks, decent prices and very sexy lounge vibes!

Death & Co. is a cocktail bar located in Blagden Alley. Reservations are recommended. I liked how they had several options for Dry January. The service was alright - had to remind our server about our drinks. The Painter's Palette (Pisco Sour) and Invisible String Theory were delicious. We weren't a fan of the Tuna Crudo or Marinated Olives. Regarding the Tuna Crudo, it reminded us of a tuna taco. It was heavily tangy (from the lime), salty, fishy, and not worth $22. Regarding the Marinated Olives, I liked the combination of ingredients (Spanish olives, aged cheddar, lemon zest, rosemary). However, we were surprised for $12 that the olives were not pitted!

This is a nice, moody cocktail bar with a sexy and discrete ambiance. We had a larger table and our server was great- helping us with any questions and explaining flavor profiles etc. The service is absolutely amazing, they had a sweet birthday note for the birthday girl and even gifted us free champagne. I chose to indulge in their non-alcoholic mocktails instead of the traditional cocktails. They have 3-4 options to choose from that are just about as complex as the rest of the menu. The Mutual Butterflies was very tasty, not too complex and easy to drink. I also had the non alcoholic sparkling wine which was more similar to a dry apple cider. The one thing I would change is the presentation of the drinks seems a bit too simple and plain for the price point.

Death & Co has all the qualities of a speakeasy without calling itself one. It's located in an alley (a nice and well lit alley), has discreet signage, is intimately lit, and has inspired cocktails. We went on a Thursday night and the place was packed, requiring a reservation. Service was attentive and our server spent time to ask questions about our favorite flavor profiles before making suggestions. The cocktails were deliciously unique, but if you favor traditional cocktails, they care more than happy to deliver. For those who arrive peckish there's a solid menu of snacks.

Rating 4.5/5 starsI recently had the pleasure of visiting Death & Co in Blagden Alley, and it was a great experience. From start to finish, everything was top-notch.The cocktails were nothing short of spectacular. I tried the Mutineer, a delightful blend of bourbon, rum, cinnamon and mango. next, I had the Lost Cause which was really refreshing. The warm cookies served alongside a cold glass of milk were a delightful surprise. They were SO delicious!!! Unfortunately, the chocolate mousse fell short. It was overly salty, making it nearly inedible. However, the generous gesture of more cookies to compensate was appreciated. The service was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about mixology.Overall, Death & Co is a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts. The sexy ambiance, creative libations, and warm hospitality make it standpoint. I will definitely be coming back in the future to try more.

Loved the atmosphere of this hidden spot-- when I say hidden I mean, there is a black door that is very unassuming. A bunch of other people were looking for it as well! Dimly lit for a sensual feel. Fun for a first date or catching up with friends. The cocktail menu is fun and beautiful. They have tons of choices. I enjoyed cherry bomb gimlet! Delish! Service was lovely and our waiter offered great suggestions. They have some bites. The Burrata was very tasty and came with huge slices of bread.I'll be back to try more drinks and dishes!

Went to death & co dc when it first opened for my birthday. They've assimilated the Columbia room decor into this establishment but kept the concept of fancy curated cocktails. They don't have too many food options - just snacky things to complement the food. I think our cocktails were good- sweeter than I anticipated but good. The servers were attentive and the ambiance outside was nice. Inside bar area was just too dark and loud. For a seated cocktail bar , the music volume definitely needed to be toned down a smidge and there was a need for more than a candle at the tables.
