My own fault for not checking yelp first before coming here. I ordered the shawarma lamb and beef combo. The meat was dried out and lacked seasoning. The veggies were fresh though. Served with a side of pita chips and perfectly average hummus. For $13 I expected better. There are too many good spots within Union Market -- red apron, fishwife, and dosa to name just a few -- to come here again.

Both of the kids decided on this Mediterranean spot inside Union Market. One got the Falafel Salad Bowl and the other got a sandwich. I tasted both and they were both just ok. In a building with so many other options, I would recommend trying something else.

Never in my tenure as a Yelper have I assigned an establishment 1 star -- it just seems unduly harsh. However, DC Mediterranean Corner (I keep forgetting the name of this spot, given how nondescript it is) provided such a deplorable customer service experience that I must assign it a sole star.Yesterday in the late afternoon, my friend and I were wandering around Union Market when the triangular pies sitting in the glass case at DC Mediterranean Corner caught our eye. For only $3, they would be a good snack, a.k.a. "linner." But I diverge. My friend, who is a vegetarian, ordered a spinach pie and a couple stuffed grape leaves, while I ordered a meat pie, which they microwaved until it was tepid. Sigh.Anyway, upon returning to our table, my friend took a bite of his pie and was disappointed to find that he had been given a meat pie, rather than a spinach pie. Mistakes happen. So, he went back to the restaurant to explain the mistake to the cashier and her mother (this place seems to be a mother-daughter operation, as others have commented), but the mother said to him, "If I give you a new pie, then I lose $3."What. The. Everloving. Hell. (1) That pie probably cost 25 cents to make, not $3; (2) Regardless of the price, it was her daughter's fault that my friend had gotten the incorrect pie, so it was her obligation to give him a new one -- otherwise, my vegetarian friend would've wasted HIS own $3 on a pie that he couldn't even eat. When he told me about this exchange, I decided to accompany him back yet again to fight for justice. Again, the mother told me that she would lose $3 -- and this time, the daughter accused my friend of ordering a meat pie in the first place and that she hadn't made a mistake at all. Of course he didn't erroneously utter the word "meat" in his order -- he's a veteran vegetarian! It's pretty bad to accuse one's customers of lying. Let it be known that we were also being very polite.Awkwardly, the mother began to berate her daughter for not writing down customer orders and therefore messing them up. "This isn't the first time this has happened!" she scolded. (Props to them for working together because lord knows I would never want to work with my own mom.) Finally, the mother tossed my friend's meat pie into the sink and grumpily re-heated a spinach pie.The customer service, as demonstrated, was heinous. The food was okay. My meat pie wasn't heated enough and was filled merely with ground beef. My friend's stuffed grape leaves were hilariously thin and limp (see attached pic).Given that this restaurant has 2.5 stars, my experience is far from unique. Though I typically research places on Yelp before eating at them, I accidentally neglected to do so at Union Market because I assumed everything was decent. Lesson learned. Customers beware!

Full disclosure: I was pretty hungover when I ordered from this spot in the Union Market. I was seeking something to fill my stomach fast, and DC Mediterranean Corner was the only open business that didn't have a line. I gave myself no time to review the menu. I ordered the first item I saw on the board, the falafel, and prayed for a quick assembly. The cook followed through, but when I unwrapped my foil covered-bundle I immediately kicked myself for being so rash. It was a sad-looking pita with a pink slice of tomato, wimpy lettuce, and lukewarm balls of falafel with a splash of white sauce. WOMP WOMP. As someone who prides herself in her food choices, I was a disappointment to foodies everywhere.Don't make the same mistake I did. Suck it up and stand in line for an extra 10 minutes at the biscuit place.

Not bad. If I could write two reviews for different aspects I would...Food:They operate with a George Foreman, and microwave. I ordered a chicken shawarma (no clue how to spell it correctly) and it took a long time.... The pita bread was fresh, but the chicken was a little dry, the sauce was a little too salty, and so were the pickled vegetables. The falafel and everything in the display is already made and just heated to order... So it's not really fresh. Fresh out of the fryer is always best.Desserts:Amazing array of desserts, and staff was very knowledgeable and informative when asked questions. The traditional baklava was amazing, and I also got a Burma pistachio one doused in honey. AmazingShop:They also have good looking hummus, baba ganoush, pita chips and fresh pita for purchase. I tried this yogurt drink which was pretty good. Overall:Definitely will stop back to try some more sweets and other goods, will not count on eating my meal here though.

Here's what you need to know: Terrible! The shawarma tastes like boiled chicken with mayo on a pita. The only reason this place is in business is because it's in Union Market. The food is flavorless and the texture of the meat leaves a lot to be desired. I cannot imagine more Americanized and unimpressive "Mediterranean" fare. The food was served fast and the woman at the counter could not even pronounce the word Gyro. Once the food is ready, they shout out the order ticket # and repeat it with increasing frustration till somebody picks up the food. Just an overall very shabby franchise.Avoid! A gyro is about $7.

I visit often and have a special salad made with extra hummus. The hummus is delicious and better than most other varieties I've tried around the DC area. The tabouleh and stuffed grape leaves are also delicious and fresh!

After reading every ones review I decided to come and try this place myself because it's next to my job and I'm huge fan of Mediterranean and middle eastern food. I ordered a falafel sandwich and my coworker ordered chicken shawarma sandwich. The falafel is fresh and above the expectation. The pita was a gyro pita but still was a good experience and my coworker said the same about the her chicken sandwich. We are definitely going back to Union market and this corner place.

I went here on a Friday evening while attending a drive-in movie event at Union Market. It was really packed in the market overall and I was looking for something quick and fairly cheap. Overall, the chicken shawarma wrap I got was decent. Nothing to write home about and a bit too much garlic, but not horrible for the price. Unfortunately, like others have written, the service is pretty bad. I think the lady making the food was overwhelmed, but to take it out on the customers was pretty unprofessional. For that, I can't recommend this place and I wouldn't doubt they'll go out of business if they continue down this bad customer servi
