This is my favorite ramen place in DC. The spicy miso ramen is my absolute favorite, not too spicy, great flavor and rich. The noodles are the perfect texture, and all the toppings are perfect!I have been here more than any other restaurant since moving here 3 years ago. I've taken every friend that visits - sometimes more than once. If you like ramen and want a good meal stop by here! It's also conventionally close to the metro, almost always has seating, and I've never needed a reservation. Servers are always very friendly, and you can see part of the kitchen while you eat, so fun to watch!

One of the best Ramen spots in the city. The vegan Ramen is some of the best I've ever tasted, certainly flavorful and quite authentic. I love that you can taste the freshness in the texture of the noodles and the depth in the veggie broth rather than just some soy soup. The veggies are incredibly fresh... So be sure to add extra veggies and the vegan spice bomb. The space is very small so be prepared to wait or come ready to stand. I wish there were more vegan or pork-free options, especially as much as I love dumplings but I understand tradition is the way. The gyoza look incredible and the feedback is awesome. Especially if you're a dumpling purist, like me, the texture on those things is top-tier.

This is one of my favorite places to get ramen. You can either sit at the ramen bar, in a booth or in the community cafeteria seating area. If you're going for lunch, prepare for is to be really busy. I usually get the spicy miso, but this time I chose something different. The shoyu ramen was packed with rich flavor. There are a lot of bean sprouts and onions, which I normally don't enjoy, but the it was still delicious. I also had the gyoza which were also great and crispy.

Came to Daikaya on a cold mid afternoon for lunch and it was so worth it. We had a group of 4 of us and ended up waiting about 15 minutes to be seated. They only have a small waiting area so prepare to stand outside if you do not have your car nearby. Once seated our server was super attentive and quick. We tried their daily cocktail which was passion fruit and vodka if I'm not mistaken it was delicious. I ordered the Shoyu ramen and it was a depth of flavor and the warmest hug to my heart and stomach lol. My sister got one of their spice bombs with her ramen and after tasting it I ended up getting one too. Not only does it back some heat but also a punch of flavors and spices I loved it. Will absolutely be back. Appreciate this authentic ramen spot right in Chinatown and I can see why it's so busy in here.

It's been years since I've been to Daikaya and it's still incredible! The no reservation system moved fast - throw your name in and have a drink next door at their sister restaurant Tonari. The ramen wasn't spicy even when marked spicy so I'd get extra heat if you want some kick. The total was ~$20 after tax.

Really glad I stopped by this Ramen Shop for lunch when visiting Washington DC's Chinatown! Daikaya had been recommended by a few friends that live in DC as a favorite for Ramen. I ordered the Super Spicy Shoyu and really enjoyed this bowl of Ramen! They are really not joking about it being super spicy though- I would only recommend if you enjoy very spicy food. The food came out quickly even though they were very busy at the time when we stopped in. We were able to grab a table outside and had great weather. The service was very good, but minimal interaction and overall relaxed. I would recommend giving this place a try! They also have a second floor that offers Izakaya/sushi during the evenings after 5pm that I am planning to check out next time I'm in the DC area!

Visited Daikaya for dinner and was immediately seated at the ramen bar as a solo diner, which was very convenient. The interior is charming, with a Japanese Izakaya vibe, and the staff runs a tight ship. Daikaya operates like a well-oiled machine in the DC ramen scene, and it's easy to see why it's a favorite in the area.I ordered the Shio Ramen, and it was outstanding. The broth was perfectly balanced and full of flavor, the noodles were cooked to perfection with the ideal bounce and bite, and the chashu was tender and flavorful. For the price, this dish is an easy 5/5.On the other hand, the Gyoza didn't quite hit the mark. They were completely deep-fried, which detracted from the pleasant chew and crispy bottom typically found with pan-fried gyoza. I'd recommend replacing this downstairs appetizer with a stronger option from their upstairs menu.Overall, Daikaya lives up to its reputation for exceptional ramen and delivers a great dining experience. However, a few tweaks to the downstairs appetizer selection could make it even better.

I have been on the search for the best ramen in the DMV and this place has always come up. I got the Bonito Red Miso Ramen that was very umami. The broth was rich, little bit salty and had a prominent bonito flavor. The pork was tender, but a bit cold. Definitely good ramen, but I think there could be better. Service was nice and quick. Little bit crowded, but that's expected for DC.Apps: Fried GyozaEntrees: Bonito Red Miso and Mugi Miso Ramen...

"I don't know why I bother with DC ramen" - after a year hiatus of eating ramen in DC, I came back to give it a try. I don't know why!! I think Ramen is different in DC people's minds. I'm extremely biased having just come back from Japan not too long ago and eating ramen in the train stations in Japan and most US Ramen is just not up to par. So my very biased starting statement aside....PARKING: street, come by public transit if possibleAMBIANCE: standard, casual but not too casualSERVICE: standardBATHROOM: two stalls that had an interesting vibe. I was a little disturbed though bc when the guy came out, I don't think he flushed. This normally has no reflection on the restaurant review bc you can't really monitor others' behaviors, but this was one of the workers! I wiped down the seat and it was just not the cleanest TBH. Food comes out pretty fast. However, I was not happy with the clumpy noodle (see photo), and it was pretty salty for spicy miso - also not really a miso flavor. My friends got the tomato curry and the vegetarian ramen and they didn't seem very impressed either. Overall a bit of a miss unfortunately, but I think this really appeals to the greater DC palate.

A week prior to coming here, I was told the ramen here isn't the greatest....and I'm soooooo glad I didn't listen to their advice.Daikaya has AMAZING ramen. I've passed by this ramen shop for years and always wanted to stop by but it was crowded. On a rainy holiday weekend, I stopped in and the hostess said it was a 30 min wait for two. So I proceeded upstairs for drink at the bar. I had the Big Kitty with Rose and it was soooooooooo good. Simple and very yummy with a house made ginger beer. After about 15 min my table downstairs was ready and Jess kindly greeted us. I had the tomato curry broth and it was so so yummy. As a pescatarian, I only seek out veggie ramen, and I totally appreciated the wok veggies. You could totally tell they were freshly made plus they still had a slight crunch with a light char And the curry broth was great. I really hope they keep it in the menu. The spring rolls were also greatThe space is tight, but what ramen bar isn't.
