Compass Coffee

This Compass Coffee just opened up around the corner from its other Navy Yard location. I stopped in for a quick drink. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. The space is brightly lit and spacious, with both counter and table seating. I also spotted a few electrical outlets along the back wall, so this could be a nice spot to work remotely as well. The music was great as well, so overall I enjoyed the environment I got the iced maple latte. It was exactly what I've come to expect from a Compass Coffee - tasty and made quickly. All in all, I had a great experience here and will be back.

If I could give Compass negative stars, I absolutely would. First of all, their products aren't good. Their drip coffee/espresso drinks are bad and the flavored cold brews they're popular for just taste artificial, like overly sweetened chemicals. I rate this particular location especially low because of the way they replaced Slipstream. Slipstream is a FANTASTIC coffee shop with absolutely unmatched breakfast sandwiches, AMAZING and very strong drip coffee, great/unique espresso drinks, and wonderful WONDERFUL staff. Compass came along and bought them out, replacing them with one of their own stores -- despite the fact that they already have a location in Navy Yard, literally less than a 10min walk away. Hate HATE bigger chains buying out our smaller places so much and they didn't even bring on the Slipstream staff.

Coffee is decent but the consistency is off. Really enjoyed my first time there but the next two visits didn't taste as good, and the price was slightly higher (by a dollar or so) on the third visit.
