Coastal Flats

I have been to coastal flats many times in the past at this location as well as the one at Tyson's corner. Here you have any issues finding parking. Me and friend were greeted warmly and seated to our table in no time. Our server was amazing too. We had grilled chicken sandwich over ice boxed grilled bread with havarti cheese, as usual super fresh and tasted great. My friend ordered hickory grilled chicken over angel hair pasta and it was delicious too. We finished off our meal with warm white chocolate pudding with vanilla bean ice cream and that was insanely good. Ambiance was great too. I highly recommend this restaurant as is all great American restaurant chains.

Our go to for a good dinner. They do have options, but three out of four of us got the chicken entree. The thin noodles, green beans is just right amount of everything. It's in the middle of having a healthy salad and entree of just protein. If you're had it, you know what I mean. Sorry, forgot to take a picture before eating.Their baby back ribs is my next favorite entree. Cole slaw is yummy and their French fries are thin, which is the type I prefer.Waiter was training, but he was attentive and seemed like he would do well. It was mid-week, but the place was busy. It always is. Although it was busy, its open an enough that we all had our own space to enjoy.

Okay, so this is not my usual Coastal Flats location - I usually dine at the one in Downtown Crown (Gaithersburg area), but I was over in the Fairfax area visiting my bestie, and we decided to get some lunch here since we were already out this way, and we both quite like Coastal Flats.This location I think is actually a bit nicer than the one I usually go to, but not anything crazy. I think the set up is a tiny bit better (on the inside) - the seating makes a bit more sense. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant as well. The food came out hot and fresh, no issues there, either. Our waiter was quite nice and attentive, and overall we had a good experience here. I would certainly visit this location again - my only qualm with it is the parking. There isn't a dedicated parking lot (I don't think?) so you kind of have to work around that and catch parking where you can if you want to park close. Even the handicapped spots aren't particularly close to the front doors (something to keep in mind for folks with disabilities).

Always a great place to stop in and sit at the bar for a lunch and drinks. Service is always prompt and they make consistently good cocktails. Surrounded by a cool coastal vibe and murals that provide you with a seaside feel. Today we had the crispy two noodle salad with tuna instead of shrimp. One of the things I like about this place is that you can substitute your proteins.

Almost every time I visit my corporate office in Fairfax, VA, we visit Coastal Flats. This is my first review though. First and foremost you must get the bread basket for the table and next is the cauliflower mash you can't go wrong with these two items.

This place is amazing. I love how big the restaurant is. It was well decorated with a lovely ambiance. The service is wonderful - friendly and quick. The food is delicious. Fresh with bursting flavors. I got the Lobster Cobb salad and it was delicious! I also tried the Tuna Salad, the dressing is tasteful. A must stop place every time I'm in Fairfax!

I wish I remembered our waitresses name she was so lovely! She had beautiful curly hair told us had a daughter and my daughter liked her so much. What a busy day it was here and she was able to maintain all her tables. I got the hickory chicken it was soooo good! I will be back for more, this was our first visit and I loved the ozzies.

Coastal Flats still going strong. I have been enjoying this restaurant for over 10 years. Food is always prepared properly and service is always friendly and efficient. Many other restaurants have come and gone but Coastal Flats has remained top notch. We typically order salads and seafood including crab cakes. We have always enjoyed the diversity of the menu - something for everyone. Service is consistently great - management pays close attention to be sure all diners are happy.

Just had dinner here last night with a party of four. The server, a sweet young woman who was patient and had great advice on menu items. We had drinks, we had apps, we had soups, we had entrees and we had, possibly the best key lime pie for dessert. Two hours from beginning to end. Food, fun and fellowship. Highlight of my week. As an almost 40-year patron of the Great American Restaurants, it still confounds me how they do it and do it so well. Whether Italian, American, Seafood, Steak eats, you're in for a treat. The consistency, the value, the tastes as well as their impeccable service seem to always stand up to time. Coastal Flats proves my thought of their ongoing appeal, therefore their growth in a difficult industry. Our most recent visit did not fail us. Throughout my visits to Coastal we've had the opportunity to sample and enjoy such offerings as the Yucatan Shrimp Cocktail with gulf shrimp, mango, jicama and avocado in a traditional tomato, orange and lime sauce, a very unique and flavorful rendition that is well above par to any other similar seafood resto offering. They offer the best Hot Spinach, Parmesan and Artichoke Dip with fresh tortilla chips served anywhere in the country that I have visited! Whenever at any GAR resto, we order this appetizer - it's the bomb!They offer their superb Crispy Sweet and Spicy Point Judith Calamari that is "tossed" with really, really thin beans and a tasty tangy pepper jelly. Their Crab and Corn Chowder is to die for; and the Lobster Bisque in a subtle yet delicious Sambuca cream with fresh chives is like nowhere else. Last, yet placed first, is their uniquely fantastic Community Breadbasket with your choice of Best Buns (an incredible GAR bakery) bread Ozzie rolls or an assortment of each and served with the best honey butter anywhere - we got the assorted to enjoy their array of fantastic and perfectly made dough. And for desert, you'll never go wrong with GAR's Warm Flourless Chocolate Waffle with vanilla ice cream along with toasted almonds - superb! Unfortunately, we are no longer Virginians, but with every visit to the Metro DC region we visit at least one of GAR's places which now stand at 9 restaurants with 18 locations. This visit was Coastal Flats Fairfax Corner! We miss your great foods while we return home to Phoenix, and hope someday, the Valley of Sun may have a Great American Restaurant. Kudos to Management, Staff and Cooks as well as Randy Norton and Jim Farley, founders of, and provisioners of excellent hospitality and simply terrific food - also your fab server Deshawn.
