Where to start:I ordered Hot and Sour Soup and spicy Generals Tso Chicken. The hot and sour soup was unfortunately not just bland, but also had no complexity to it at all.Although there was some heat from a splash of pepper flakes, that just didn't make up for the very watery, unremarkable, boring soup.Since I like wood ear and mushrooms I always gravitate towards soups that use these ingredients well.I searched for wood ear and found one little strip. The mushrooms were so finely diced that they didn't even register with the dish. The saving grace to the soup is that they did not have too much cornstarch so I didn't have to deal with this thickened mess that sometimes you get with hot and sour soup. However, having a bland, thin unremarkable broth simply does not cut it. though it doesn't really matter, but it adds to the disappointment, the crunchy noodles that came with the soup were extremely stale. so that was the good part of the meal. The general tsos chicken, that I ordered, white meat only with, was cold, tough, stringy with an unremarkable, cloyingly sweet sauce. When the chicken is so horribly prepared, no amount of breading or sauce can compensate. Perhaps if i ordered dark meat, it might have been more tenderjust an overall poor meal, poorly prepared, and unremarkable at best

The food was okay and I don't know if it was a matter of freshness or a different taste that inwasbt accustomed to. I ordered chicken and broccoli.

Service pleasant. Super overcooked (grease seeping out) veggie spring rolls. No veggies, just no meat or egg. Ordered Hunan Shrimp lunch special. It was somewhat acceptable with smaller than expected shrimp. Friend had tofu something lunch special. Shared eggplant w basal sauce. The eggplant was the best of the order. I think I may not care for Chinese food anymore. I have not eaten it for years. Used to enjoy City Lights of China @ Dupont Circle back-in-the-day. Asked about the Yelp incentive for 2 free egg rolls and was told that was only offered at dinner. What? Why? Didn't matter really once I tasted the spring roll.

These items were all five-star: veggie eggroll was not greasy at all, spicy cucumber salad very unique, pan fried dumplings done perfectly, hunan lamb perfectly seasoned with fair amount of lamb vs veggies. This item was a one-star: the kung pao chicken was not spicy at all even though I requested extra spicy, but the main problem is that it was so sugary, yuk, have never had sweet kung pao chicken before, it should be named instead Candied Kung Pao Chicken, it was so sweet in fact we had to throw it away.If you want really good Kung Pao, like you would hope and expect it to taste, these other places all prepare it quite well, in this order: Meiwah in Friendship Heights, Yu Zhou Cafe in Gaithersburg, Mama Wok in Rockville.

We've been getting food from City Lights of China in Bethesda for many years, and I was surprised the reviews were not better. We love orange chicken sauteed lite and sesame chicken sauteed lite. They are always excxellent, but last night they were truly exceptional. We also got won ton soup, and it was top notch. They deliver their own food, which means that they really care about getting the food to your house fast, when it is still quite hot. There is no middle man.

Ordered from DoorDash so take that into account, but it was bad. We got sesame chicken and lo mein, and the lo mein was bad lo mein like mostly an odd assortment of vegetables but somehow only one of each? And the noodles were all short and it left a bad aftertaste. The sesame chicken was all fat and the only pieces of chicken were dry as hell. Left the same type of odd taste in my mouth.
