Choong Man Chicken - Fairfax

Cousins wanted to come here since their local Korean Fried Chicken place closed and it was such a good choice! Upfront, parking is really limited, it shares a lot with other businesses. The restaurant is medium sized but the service was excellent. Sat down and ordered two orders of fried chicken and some truffle fries, wings and rice. Everything was delicious and really filling! I haven't had Korean chicken in a while, so I was really excited to come here when we don't have many choices in Michigan. Definitely recommend for price and taste!

It takes about 25 minutes to get your order because they want you to have it 'just made' and not sitting under a heat lamp (thank you very much chef ;). You get a LOT of food: 3 crispy chicken legs, a bunch of crispy waffle fries, and pickled radishes that taste exactly like coleslaw (to tell the truth, I wasn't sure about the radishes until I tried them - wow! Glad I took the chance- delish!) The chicken spices were surprising and really good- a little hot but just enough.The food to $ ratio is worth the price. I couldn't even eat the last chicken legs because I was so full! Boasting to be the 'best chicken in Fairfax' is debatable. I ate it 3 hours ago and it's still with me - REALLY with me.

A buddy of mine and I went after work one Wednesday November 13 after work. I really enjoy the Korean chicken spots around NOVA. Choongman was the destination. The place is small inside, only maybe 10 tables. It wasn't a problem as it wasn't busy. A couple dudes having the chicken and beer. We grabbed a seat near the back wall of the restaurant. The smell of the food cooking is great. Hard to decide on the menu...lots of flavors...mmmm...yummy smell. The waitress comes over and we decide on an order of the red pepper chicken (wings), an order of the garlic spicy chicken (wings), the dirty fries and Korean corn cheese. I have never had corn cheese before. The corn cheese is first to hit the table. It's really good. Definitely something to try if you have never had it. Next it's the fries. A generous serving of fries, bacon, chunks of chicken, cheese...so good. It covers the plate. We're drinking beer on tap. I'm not sure the brand but it was ice cold and good . The wings go with ice cold beer. Next both orders of wings arrive on the table. Spicy, tasty, hot and really good. I don't think I have ever had wings like this before. Meaty, seasoned and spicy. Very good. We eat basically until we bust. He took wings home and so did I. I took the fries in with the wings. Made the car smell like wings. I noticed it the next day. Bonus. The next day in the oven I reheated the wings. Still super tasty. Definitely a return visit is coming.

Decent but not great Korean fried chicken. The texture; quality of ingredients; spice index and flavors; variety; breading and breaded ratio; and quality of execution in cooking the meat are all satisfactory. Price and quantity-wise, this place performs very favorably. Compared to local offerings, this place likewise performs quite favorably. However, compared to fried chicken I have had in Korea and in other major cities, I would place it slightly beneath the median.

I don't love their chicken cuz I feel like there is better korean fried chicken around, but it's good for its price.

Great Korean Fried Chicken, best when eating them fresh from the store. A popular dish served at pot lucks and I get happy when I see them there. The chicken is always nice and crunchy and the soy garlic sauce is great. Glad this spot is here and its fast and convenient.

Another Tuesday night visit for a friend's birthday! We were a group of four and got seated right away. We opted for chicken skin and seasoned waffle fries appetizers which came out delicious with a side of sauces to dip into. We ordered the red pepper chicken wings, creamy onion chicken wings and soy garlic chicken wings. All were super tasty and the chicken was piping hot. The chicken was delicious and we were deciding to order another dish, but behaved. When we got our check, the waiter informed us there was already an 18% tip included (just so you know), but the waiter was attentive and really generous with giving us radish and plenty of water.

I've never dined in but have grabbed take-out several times from here. Their chicken is freaking DELICIOUS. I always get the soy garlic spring onion style. The spring onions is addictive & fresh, especially pair with the delectable crispy chicken. The soy garlic sauce is perfectly balanced between salty, spicy & sweet & I find it less sweet than the sauce at Chi Mc or Bon Chon. The most recent time I picked up, there was a big ol' rat just prancing around the dining area. Other people waiting for pick up saw & mentioned it to the waiter & he didn't seem to care much (meaning they obviously know of the issue!). Yikes. Love their food but likely won't be back. As I was leaving, I noticed the large dumpster for the shopping area right behind where Choong Man is situated so I don't think the issue can be properly controlled because the trash will just continue attracting rats.

I had been craving fried chicken for a while but had grown tired of eating at normal fast food chicken spots like Popeyes. A friend suggested we try Korean Fried Chicken and I must say I was skeptical. We ordered the following items for take-out: chicken skins, waffle fries, and soy garlic chicken tenders and wings. It was all very good. Everything was fresh, had great flavor and was fried thoroughly. I would try it again.

Best KFC in the DMV area I've had so far. Not many places do whole fried chicken; it's easy to find places offering wings and drumsticks but that's not truly korean style. Here, at CM, you get the real deal, and the chicken's fried to perfect crispiness. The service is top notch, as well. My toddler made a big mess after dinner but the owner was super nice about it.Women's restroom was super clean, too. 100% would return for the chicken. Next time I want to try their other late night special menu items.
