I feel like Chinese carry-out spots are like comfort food--everyone has their own interpretation of what is 'good.' I've been coming here for over 20 years and really wouldn't consider any other spot for my occasional cheat meal. If you're a DC native you know what to expect from these hole in walls. They're unassuming, unpretentious, expeditious, and if you get to know them, pretty friendly. They make an effort to remember your order preferences and they are willing to make adjustments to the dish should you request it. Mind blowing? No, but if you're looking for that in a carry-out spot you're in the wrong market and possibly state.

I was craving spring rolls yesterday so ordered 2 since this carry out was on the way home. I also noticed steak and cheese egg rolls on their menu so ordered two of those, too. The spring rolls were tiny and just okay but the steak and cheese egg rolls were really yummy, packed with steak and cheese. The actual shop is nothing to write home about but in a convenient location. They charge 50 cents extra if you are paying for an order under $8 on your credit or debit card. I paid $7.35 for two egg rolls and two spring rolls which I think is a bit high especially in this area.

My husband and I live around the corner from China Taste, and it's true, it's a dependable place if you want to order something quick and fast, for a hangover, for example! They even deliver within a reasonable radius, in the Brightwood area (upper Northwest D.C.).Try the fried chicken wings, or the General Tso's chicken wings. They're both excellent. You can also get "mumbo sauce," but it's not necessary (very sweet, goopy sauce). You really can't go wrong here. Oh, did I say they deliver?

After getting burned a few times in a row by my go-to chinese delivery place, I sought greener pastures. China Taste was close enough for me to have seen with my own eyes that it didn't look like a roach motel from the outside, like so many other delivery joints in my neighborhood. The menu is pretty typical for the area... chinese food, fried platters, subs and some basic pizza offerings. The pizza is pretty much on par with school lunch pizza, the chinese food is a solid choice and the subs elicited no complaints from my husband. I will say that one stand out menu item is their singapore rice noodle, its very spicy with loads of meat and veggies. Oh, and don't forget to try the philly cheesesteak eggroll... kind of weird, kind of delish, completely perfect hangover food.

Ordered delivery from China Taste and was pleased. Food is decent - we had egg rolls, lo mein, and Szechuan beef - and service was fast. Food arrived within 30 minutes of ordering. Will order from them again.

Still on the hunt for good Chinese food in the Brightwood neighborhood and this was not it! Pros: friendly and quick delivery Cons: Ordered General Tso chicken and shrimp, shrimp basket, and shrimp egg roll. The sauce on the General Tso was disgusting, too much salt, and too much breading. The chicken was dark meat...we pulled it apart to make sure it was really chicken because the texture was weird. I ate two bites and trashed the food. It was a waste of money. The fried rice was decent. The shrimp basket has 18 decent size shrimp and fries, the fries were fried twice and extremely greasy, shrimp was meh. The only food I would recommend is the egg roll and fried rice

It's good and it's cheap. After our last place burned us too many times as well, and this was the next most convenient choice that delivers. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality. China Taste has some unique flare to it too! For example, instead of your traditional bland wanton soup, the soup has a slight kick of pepper in it. The crab rangoon is excellent. It comes in both square and triangle shapes with yummy (although somewhat thin) homemade sweet and sour sauce to dip. The philly cheese steak egg rolls are great hangover food because they are just the right amount of greasy and filled with meat. The crispy orange beef is delicious with tons of orange punch. Plus they always give us a free soda with our order :)This is our new go-to Chinese food place, and it should be yours too!
