I can only rate the China House lunches, which are above average for the neighborhood. The portions are generous, the sauces flavorful, and the spicy options have a kick. It's reasonable, too, about $6 for a combo of fried rice, a main, and a drink. The place is well-lit and spacious, with tile floors, bench seating along the walls, and the usual panels of scarred bullet-resistant glass to put you at ease. Their Gen'l Tso's special is typical of their offerings: good but eccentric. It comes in a big portion, with plenty of glossy, thick sauce mixed in with the chicken. They ask if you want it spicy when you order, which no one else around does, and it has a nice kick to it if you do. But the traditional broccoli and hot peppers that would complete the dish are absent. It's partly made up for with the bits of bean sprout and onion in the fried rice, but this place really could be a contender with a tiny bit more effort. The special comes with a can of soda, which, unless you are explicit, defaults to whatever house brand flavor they have too much of that day. You don't get a vote by default. Despite everything, this carry-out is still better than virtually all of its bretheren in the area. More so than the others, China House is not afraid of a little spice. As with most places, you have to ask for hot mustard and duck sauce if that's your thing. Parking is easy on the block next door or the lot across the street.

I judge Chinese carry out by their general tso's chicken and this place does it right. Most people in the neighborhood come in here for 40's and swisher sweets... sucks to be them, more chicken for me!!!

Delicious food. Sesame chicken was tender and flavorful. White rice was made perfectly. The steamed dumplings were the best I ever had. I would recommend this place if your in the DC area. If you order uber eats make sure to put include plates and utensils if your on vacation.

Food is good for the most part however prices keep changing, with no explanation. I come here often and will get a lunch special of $4.95. With that that should rounded off be $5.25. I always get back $.50 (never complained since I like the food and for the portion I won't cry over a quarter). Today I give a $20 (cash only establishment) and only get back $14? I get my food and explain I got incorrect change. What am I told? "Lunch special $4.95" My reply "I know. I gave a 20 and got no quarters back. Only $14. His response. He Walks away. The lady said "oh it's $6 after tax" I just walked away. Will be my last time coming. I'm all for small business however do it right.

They don't have that $3.75 lunch special anymore, it's now a whooping $4.99!!! I live off benning so when I'm not in the mood to wait 30 mins for H& pizza lat night munches I just stop in here. You can get 3 wings and an order of fried rice for $5 bucks! Downside is I guess they actually cook the food, so it takes like 10-15 minutes.. but it's totally worth it.. drunk Chinese food = heaven in your mouth. Their fried rice is pretty plain, but seasoned well-- has beansprouts in it, you can add shrimp for an extra $2. It comes with ample mambo sauce as well. Great for durnk food!

Well, I love the food, but it seems like every time I call, there is an issue. "What? Wrong number." *click* Or they just don't pick up until like the fourth time calling. I get it, we are in the Northeast, no one is expecting much, but get your stuff together and answer your business phone during open hours!Once you do get the food though, it's pretty tasty and is right on the mark in terms of portions and price. It'd be nice if they accepted credit too, but they do have an atm in the shop.
