I give them 3 stars cause i didn't expect that much from a food truck in a very touristic neighbor.it's just ok food for a food truck.he totally messed up our order but i was too hungry to go back and ask him to change it. we got beef gyro over rice and beef shawerma sandwich. it wasn't that bad, but you should lower your expectations. If you're not as hungry as me, and you're willing to walk like 10-20 minutes, you can find some better food in the area.

We ordered chicken shawarma and hummusChicken was from a frozen cylinder. Plopped on the grill. We saw "chef Alex" sawing it with a knife to get it properly sized. Dry and tastes like frozen meat. IckHummus had lot of lemon and no other flavor. It's not chef Alex. It's assembler Alex Not coming here again.Stay away.

Great find while walking around the Smithsonian. They're located on 7th street next to some other food trucks but Alex's DC bright blue food truck stood out to us. :) The lamb gyro was nicely seasoned and they had a bottle of sriracha to add as much as you want! Now that's my kind of place. I also appreciated their generous spirit b/c when a homeless woman asked for $1- the gentleman in the truck gave her a plate of chicken and rice. That's my kind of business.

Decent quality in a sea of kabob trucks.I guess that kabob trucks are a thing in DC more-so than in Atlanta, because there were at least ten selling about the same things. That being said, I chose Chef Alex because of the smile and apparent cleanliness of the truck. I wanted something a little different than the usual gyro/shawarma and I didn't want something that I needed a fork to eat so no plates and no wraps today. That being said the tacos that we ordered are technically just little wraps (yes, I get the irony). We ordered the falafel and lamb tacos which were good, but not great and that was due to something missing, which is likely something along the lines of salsa or cilantro which would have helped immensely since they are called "tacos".I'd try this truck again because the folks were nice, the food was quick, and they weren't all in-your-face when it came to drawing us in.

Both Coco Loco (adjacent truck) and this truck are same owner and work together. Family in DC for weekend and wanted a quick bite between museums. No such thing as quick with this tandem. As per the time on my receipt compared with the time they finally completed my order, we were there for a half hour....with no one else in line, no where to sit, and no sincere apology. It's funny when you rate the food as a side note, but when the service is that bad you have to. The food was typical truck-fare, not wonderful but not horrific. The chicken sandwich was mediocre but stay away from the disgusting hummus, super salty to the point I could not finish. No redeeming qualities.

This food truck is lined up on the side street right in front of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. We got a gyro and falafel.. just the sandwiches, for $7 each, and they were slammin! They were so good that we circled the car around the block to get another gyro. We're from NY, so we know what a good gyro is, and this is the real deal. The falafel was also awesome. We also got a side of grape leaves, and they were really good too.

Heard great things about the DC food trucks and decided to try Chef Alex. We had the lamb shawarma over rice and it was delicious. Seasoning was excellent, portions generous. We also tried the baklava and enjoyed it very much. Great find.
