My partner and I came for brunch, making a reservation like 3 weeks in advance. The service was very smooth and we felt well taken care of. Our server came a number of times to check on us. I really liked the yuzu soda! The food itself was definitely good for DC and middling for all dim sum ever. I felt like there could have been more veggie forward dishes since a lot of them were dough and/or meat heavy. The dan dan noodles were alright, but the wider flat noodles (the name is escaping me) were my favorite. I wish the soup dumplings came with sauce, and we were too full to try the scallion pancake but maybe on a return trip.Truly I've paid more for worse in this town, and yes I'm grading on a curve, but I truly think there's some promise here! Hoping we get a menu refresh and then I'll come again.

I'm going to go ahead and say it.... ChangChang is the best Chinese food in DC. I can't begin to tell you how amazing the whole experience at ChangChang's was!!!The inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It's very sleek, modern and open. It's very refreshing inside with massive windows at the from of the restaurant that fill it with sunlight. Mostly filled with four long rows of booths but there is some options for sitting at tables. They also have a beautiful bar areas that blends in perfectly with the restaurant of the restaurant. The staff is beyond friendly, smiles everywhere and they are smooth but not rushed. Take some time to talk to them while you are there and ask thee for suggestions as well. The food is the real star of the show. Two absolute musts are the soup dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. I've never ordered a dish twice while at a restaurant but I absolutely loved the soup dumplings so much I had to order them again. They also have a great cocktail program serving some unique twist on classic cocktails that pair perfectly with the food. ChangChang is a welcome addition to the Washington DC Michelin guide. Please go and enjoy as I promise you won't be disappointed.

Stopped by for dim sum on a weekend and this place was packed! I definitely recommend a reservation during the weekends. Interior was beautifully designed! Service: fairly decent despite some of the other Yelp reviews. My group was waited on pretty fast and the waiter came back every so often to ask if we wanted to put in more food. Food: overall, a mediocre place for dim sum. A lot of the menu items I feel like are frozen food that was heated up vs hand made like the chive and shrimp dumpling, spicy wontons and shumai lol the noodle dishes, Dan Dan and Sesame noodles, was okay, Nothing special. The scallion bubble pancake was super crispy and paired with a curry sauce (I do wish it had more scallions, but overall was great!). The founder crispy egg rolls and soup dumplings were also fantastic. I thought the red bean pumpkin fritter was an interesting concept along with the charcoal buns. I would prefer the red bean pumpkin fritter out of the two (and this dish mimics the sesame ball concept) One thing to know here is that the food was a little bit inconsistent every time we ordered. For example, we order the scallion bubble pancakes twice and the first time it came with a curry sauce and then the next one didn't have the sauce which we had to ask for. Same thing with egg rolls. You only get 75 minutes to eat even though it's all you can eat. This flew by so fast since you are limited on how much you can order each time so be very mindful of this when you come with a large group.Again overall mediocre place. I don't think I would be back as there's better dim sum options in the area for the price of this place but it was fun to try it at least. I wouldn't recommend this to super large groups since you are limited in the food and time you have here if you're trying to get your moneys worth lol unless if you're coming for the ~vibes vs the food then maybe.

Came to Chang Chang for their unlimited dim sun for a friends birthday brunch and ran into a lot of issues.First, they had limits on the number of plates a table could get which was understandable, but there were times where the limits did not make sense. For example an order of custard buns came with 1 and because we had ordered other food, our waitress told us we could only get one order of them but because we were 9 we could get 2 orders... so only 2 custard buns came to the table. The table next to us got a custard bun for everyone...In terms of the food, the food was good but not outstanding. The highlights were the har gow, shrimp and chive dumpling, and beef chow fun. The other stuff were fine or missed (like the pork bun did not excite me and was sadly a miss).Timing was also an issue here as it took asking about 4 times over the course of an hour for the har gow/shrimp dumplings. We also had issues with payment where it would randomly split payments by person into half which made it confusing. Our server also could've been friendlier throughout and timing was a bit rough overallHoping Chang Chang can get a better handle on this.

Came here for the year of the snake lunar new year special dinner and the food was exceptionally delicious. We were treated to a 13-course dinner and I was stuffed to the brim. Before the main dish came along, I feel like I was already at 70% full and I had to expand my capacity to 200% to complete all the dishes, with ample leftovers. Dined with a group of strangers and we had a great conversation together. Chef Peter chang was here today and he came around to say hi to us. Would love to return to try out the weekend dim sum menu.

TL;DR: Our Asian Mom would have yelled at us if we took her to @changchangdc for Dim Sum. SERVICE: 2/10 Reservations were at 1:45PM and we were seated by 1:50PM! If you've ever stood in line at 11:00AM hoping to get a table by 1:00PM at the now closed Oriental East in Silver Spring, MD--you get me. Once seated, a bottle of water and one glass were dropped off at the table. I asked three people for another glass and was ignored. About 30 minutes later, at 2:20PM, our server finally shows up to take our order and informs us that the kitchen will be closing for brunch in 40 minutes. Ok, fine--annoying, but Brother and I aren't newbs to Dim Sum. We can make 40 minutes work. We start ordering all the dishes we wanted to try and the server stops us to let us know about the 5 dish limit--per order, for the table! It's Dim Sum and AYCE! FOOD: 5/10Beef & Truffle Pastry Buns were my favorite dish of the day. Pastry was flaky and buttery. Scallion Bubble Pancake was fun to eat. Brother enjoyed popping it. I wanted more scallion flavor and hoped the creamy mustard sauce would help; sauce was watery and tasted more like cumin than anything else. Sweet N Sour Osmanthus Pork Ribs were cold, hard like they had been sitting out for some time, and overwhelmingly sweet. Peter's Peking Duck Buns were terrible. It was covered in what I think was supposed to be hoisin sauce, but was so salty I couldn't take another bite. Where is the delicate crispy duck skin, the juicy duck meat, the scallions?! I would have asked my server if she brought the wrong dish--if I could actually find her. Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings were not very soupy; dipping sauce tasted like just soy sauce. Where is the rice wine vinegar and ginger?! Crispy Roast Duck Rolls were the worst dish of the day. I bit into the roll and got a mouthful of gelatinous un-rendered duck skin that slipped completely out of the wrapper.

I think this restaurant is appropriately rated about 3.5 stars but because you have to pick whole numbers, I went with 4 stars. Overall I thought the food was good, but not necessarily exceptional. We tried about 3/4 of the dim sum menu; my favorite was the spicy dumplings. Service was ok. Had to ask for some items multiple times because they had been forgotten from the order; asked for soy sauce multiple times and never received it; and they seated us 30 minutes late. I did think the dim sum menu was a good value and would go back, but I'd go much earlier in the morning and avoid the afternoon brunch crowd to hopefully improve the service issues.

Amazing service and even better food! These chow fun noodles are SOO darn good! Love the flavor of the noodles and the crispy charred beef put this dish over the top. I will be back and bringing more friends. The dumplings have good flavor too and come with a side of soy sauce&vinegar to accompany the dumplings and loved it.

Terrible service. Food is good but not great.Came here for a celebration. Party of 9 as one friend couldn't make it last minute. We sat down at 1 PM. We received water after a few minutes but no server approached us to order drinks or food. After over 20 minutes of waiting one of us approached the hostess. She said she thought we were waiting for the 10th person. The hostess apologized for this miscommunication and sent over a server. We were immediately told that we could only order five items at a time. This was a bit tricky as we had several people in the party who had dietary restrictions and were hoping they could order separate items. The five item limit was reiterated so we ordered what we could for everyone to share. I'm not sure what the communication breakdown was but we had several issues with what we ordered and received. 1) We ordered vegetable dumplings and asked for 3 orders as it's 2 dumplings per order. We received a plate with 4 dumplings instead of 6. When we asked the food runner and waitress both seemed confused and just shrugged in response. 2) There are 3 kinds of noodles on the vegetarian menu. We asked for "Cantonese Veggie with Rice Noodles." We received 3 portions of "Dan Dan Noodles" instead. When we explained to our waitress that this was incorrect she said "Well we have several kinds of noodles so you have to be specific." So if it was not clear what we were asking for why did she not clarify this with us? The Dan Dan Noodles were just sitting on the table untouched because we did not order them. We asked if they could be taken in a box since it was a mistaken order and untouched. We were told that was not possible. Ironic considering their menu says they do not believe in food waste. I assume those noodles were thrown out. Maybe a staff member ate them? 3) We ordered "Charcoal Lava Custard Buns." The menu says they come in sets of 2. We asked for 5 portions as we had 9 people. The waitress said no, and we could only have one portion, 2 buns. Our party of 9 had to share 2 buns. But we saw the table next to us, party of 6, eating the buns and each person had a bun. These restrictions seemed completely arbitrary. 4) We ordered har gow (shrimp dumplings) and it took about 90 minutes to receive them. We had to ask our waitress several times. She kept going to the kitchen to ask so I'm not sure what was happening. By the time they arrived half our party had paid their portion of the bill and left. None of us expected to still be sitting there at almost 4 PM. Especially because we were told the brunch service stops at 3. The final issue was paying the bill. Scanning the QR code allows you to pay online. We chose the split bill option and entered 9 for the number of people. Each person's portion was about $50. Three of us entered our credit card information and then received receipts that said "Recipt for $25." And the emailed receipt said "1/2 brunch entree - paid." We scanned the QR and it said "bill paid" and no longer had the option to enter any payment information. This was very confusing and we had to give the waitress a credit card to pay the remaining balance as the QR code was no longer working. Favorite items:- Beef chow fun: Flavorful noodles, tender beef, crispy vegetables. - Shrimp and chive pancake: Good size, crispy bottom, nice flavor.Least favorite items: - Crispy roast duck roll: Looked like a spring roll but there as only duck meat inside. No veggies/noodles/sauce inside. I don't believe the duck had any seasoning/marinade either. - Bubble scallion pancake: A bit difficult to share as you have to rip it apart. Not sure why one came deflated. Decent flavor but barely any scallions in it.

This is our fourth time at Chang Chang and it's normally a wonderful experience but I felt the need to leave a review because the service this time was very poor. My partner and I waited over 20 minutes for a drink order from our waiter who looked bothered that we were even there. We ordered food before she left and the food came out quickly and was excellent but we again waited 30 minutes after finishing just for a box and are currently waiting another 20 minutes since then for our check. The ambiance and food were excellent as usual but the service was some of the worst I've ever had. I have a lot of patience and have worked in the service industry myself but this has been an unpleasant experience and isn't the standard I'm used to at Chang Chang.
